Silhouette: Updating, Current on-Board Info?
Cruizin_PA replied to TLCOhio's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Just disembarked the Silhouette on Sunday morning. The ship is in really good shape. This is probably one of the cleanest ships I have been on and was impressed at how well maintained and clean all the public areas and staterooms were. Only comment would be that the cabins did feel slightly aged, but that did not bother us after the first day. All of the staff were very friendly and willing to help in any way possible. Our MDR waiter learned our names for the second night, and greeted us by name, along with having our orders of iced tea ready when we arrived. Food was very good, but the French Onion soup is not worth the order. Mostly just broth, with little to no onions present. The first night the flavor profile was good, just no onions, with the large piece of bread and melted cheese, it was nice. Second order of the soup again had no onions, but this time the broth had a slight dish water taste. Food in the Oceanview Cafe was very good, with a decent variation on American, Indian, Vegetarian and everyday a rotating selection (such as German, Mexican, Jamaican, etc.) Pizza was pretty good onboard, with the typical very thin crispy crust we like, with several selections from cheese, pepperoni, veggy, and a daily selection. Evenings (after 9 pm) the food selection was minimized so they could clean and sanitize the buffet. The desserts on the late-night selection are not worth the time or calories. Many are tasteless, have odd consistency with the cake, or had odd flavor combinations. We elected to do Le Petite Chef and Tuscon Grille. The entertainment and quality of food in Le Petite Chef was fantastic and kept both of our kids engaged. Our daughter (11) ordered from the main menu, and really enjoyed her meal, finishing off all but one course of the heirloom tomatoes. The short rib was very tender, feel apart with just a fork, and had lots of flavor. On the contrast, the Tuscon Grille was a disappointment. Everyone in our group though the food was just ok. The red sauce had an odd ingredient that many of us could not put our finger on, and the carbonara was not a true carbonara, seemed more like an alfredo sauce, and did not wow me at all. You can easily skip a meal in the Tuscon Grille. Current cruise director is Mike Gibbons, but this is his last cruise ending on Sunday June 29. The entertainment we found to be acceptable on the whole. The production shows put on by the dancers were very good, with two pairs of aerialists onboard. Other entertainment was hit or miss on the whole. The Beatles tribute with the house band was a disaster, and do not recommend going to that if offered. Plenty of activities and game shows, pool parties, trivia, etc. that could pack 2 or 3 cruises. Hated having to pick between 2 or 3 activities at the same time, but it was good to have that problem. This is only a few things off the top of my head. I have not had time to properly sit down and collect my thoughts or notes yet. If you have specific questions, please let me know. -
Not sure if they will keep the bookcases. From what I know, the books are left by guests, not Celebrity. It is a take one leave one type of library.

Library is slated to stay.

I'm sorry, it was the cruise that ended on the 18th. For the Beyond The Podium lectures, do you feel kids would enjoy them, if they are interested int he topic? I have an 11 and 7 year old, we will be on the June 15th sailing, and while I am very interested in the talks, wondering if the kids would find it as enjoyable?

We have done 2 European cruises flying in day of, and while we were fine, I would not recommend it. We were worried about delays, highway traffic, etc. Plus, taking the red eye and getting little sleep makes for a very long day on boarding day. Our next med cruise in 2026 we will be flying in 3 days early to enjoy Rome pre-cruise.

I'm assuming there are 33 total polls. There are many more areas to reveal yet, plus food options, so it makes sense that it will go out that far.

Enchanted Princess April - May 2026
Cruizin_PA replied to Abercrombie2019's topic in Princess Cruises
It appears that Enchanted will enter dry dock in Palermo Italy after the April 10 cruise. -
In that case, the cruise company always wins. Guess it doesn't matter what we do.

After much research, it appears many main line companies have contracts that give the workers a base wage, then a minimum wage. The gratuities are to make up the difference between base and minimum. With the company paying them additional to get to minimum if gratuities don't make up the difference. Basically we are paying for their wage, putting more money in the cruise companies pocket, not the employee. I plan to remove gratuities. Then hand out cash. Hopefully this will actually give the employees an actual tip, not just make up their "regular" pay.

I know right...lol. The more concerning part was being able to manipulate another guest's bookings.
-
Agree. Celebrity completely dropped the ball on this. Instead of putting out mundane design choices last minute, why not have guests help on the design before steel is cut for the next ship? With the guidance of their design team, a much longer list and more exciting options could take place. And it could affect all areas of the guest experience, not just a few "new" areas.

Has anyone else noticed issues this morning managing their reservations on the website? When wanting to change my dining reservation, it states that only the person who made the reservation can change it, but I made the reservation? Also, there was a slight glitch, and all of a sudden, I was in another guest's reservation, I could see their names, sailing, captains club number, everything. Even cancel? This is concerning if this is happening to others, as this could create a huge mess.

#6244 With partially obstructed view? how bad?
Cruizin_PA replied to 3red7s's topic in Celebrity Cruises
The deck plans for Ascent do not list cabin 6244 as obstructed. Did you type the cabin number wrong? -
Yeah, most ships I have sailed have now repurposed the space. It is really not a deal breaker for me as I only occasionally enjoy a cigar but do like to enjoy one after a good steak dinner and on vacation. We have looked at Silversea and may enjoy a cruise with them in the future. Good to know that I can pack my travel humidor when we do book with them.

Perhaps they will remove "The Meeting Place" on Ascent and replace with a smoking lounge. Seems like a likely spot to accomplish this. As an occasional cigar and pipe smoker, it would be nice to have a lounge where you can smoke without needing to go outside. It shouldn't be too much to ask for a space where you can get a good drink, listen to jazz music, and not get wet or freezing cold, or windblown when just wanting to relax.

Me too.

I think that following the bag has no bearing on whether you win or not, its all random based on code.

April 26 Transatlantic will end in Barcelona, and the fall 26 transatlantic will end in Miami

I know that Celebrity and ABT entered a partnership before COVID, but have they started doing cruises again? We are booked on the Silhouette to Bermuda next year and would love to see the ballet during our cruise, as our daughter is a dancer with a local company, and she would love to do classes with the ABT dancers.

Celebrity Silhouette to Bermuda - June 15, 2025
Cruizin_PA replied to hurwitz5's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We are currently booked on the June 15th cruise, and our children will be 11 and 7. We just returned from a 12-day Princess cruise, and we had 7 kids traveling with us. They were entertained, and never went to the kids' clubs, though many we heard from really enjoyed their time there. I would assume Celebrity will be the same. Our kids like to relax and swim, so I assume most of our time on the sea days will be at the pool, watching movies, eating ice cream, and checking out the other activities that will be on board. We are really looking forward to this cruise, this will be our 3rd time to Bermuda. -
My last cruise on Celebrity was 20 years ago, so never been on a Solstice Class ship. Are the interiors as dark as they look in pictures? Mainly the atrium area, which looks very dark, but most pictures could be in the evening vs. during the day. Just worried about the feel of the ship compared to other lines where they are more bright and airy.
