  1. Twice we signed up for this excursion - both times it turned out to be a great scenic helicopter ride. We got up in the helicopter but as we approached the landing site, the pilots determined that the fog was coming in and it was not safe to land so we went back to base. Both times Regent refunded 100% of the cost of the excursion. On each trip, our pilot was great and provided wonderful commentary and even though we did not get to the dog camp, we still have a wonderful time and if I ever again have a chance to take another Alaskan cruise, I would most definitely sign up for this excursion again. The groups that left earlier than us were able to land and from their pictures, if my memory serves me right, there was plenty of snow and the sleds were not on wheels. However, this was ten years ago and I don't know if anything has changed.

  2. It is a disgrace that in this day and age of really good Kosher wines, this is the best the Regent can come up with - all the wines listed can be purchased for less than $8 bottle when on sale. Many passengers have asked, begged, requested different Kosher wines and each time our requests have been ignored or told excuses that were so over the top that we knew immediately they were lying.

I have been on two cruises that embarked in Israel so there were a number of Israeli passengers who were horrified with the poor wine selection - this after procuring the finest Kosher food available.

I also know of passengers who bring on their own wine to enjoy and share during Friday evening Shabbat services because the days of drinking Manischewitz wines are long gone.

Please do not ask me to special request - that has been done and they have never been able to get it right

  3. The intensity and color variation of the fall leaves is very dependent on the weather - and as has happened more than once, just before peak is about to hit, we get a huge storm and all the leaves are on the ground. I lived in Vermont for a few years and each year the color change and timing was different.

I am also on the cruise but did not receive anything from my TA - interested in what type of cabin you booked?

So disappointing! This is an expensive cruise that had a vey interesting itinerary. Newport was going to be a highlight. I do wish they would give us an explanation. Not very interested in spending a day in New York, I wonder what other surprises await. NYC-London, see you on board

The stop in Newport was one of the reasons we selected this particular cruise - we had plans to meet up with friends who would also be in Newport at the same time as the Navigator was scheduled to be there.

    See you on board!

  5. Just received notification that the June 11th cruise from Montreal to NYC has changed - the stop in Newport, Rhode Island has been cancelled and instead we will arrive in NYC one day early and will overnight. I guess many people would be excited to have an unexpected stop in NYC but not me - I live in the city (I can walk to my apartment from the pier) and really wasn't looking for a vacation in my own backyard - I was looking to get away from the city, not vacation in it. I am curious to see what excursions are being offered at this late date.
