I guess I'm in the minority, but I really enjoyed spending 24hrs in Civitavecchia. Some pleasant shops, museums, not at all touristy and loads of great restaurants and bars. I don't know if it is only on Fri/Sat, or every night, but while we were there, there was also a great street food vibe on the seafront by the big wheel in the evening. 

It is lit but not very well. I would recommend a torch (or phone light) and go carefully

A huge thank you to everyone that has contributed to this thread, especially the wonderful contributions of @Sthrngary, I have learned so much from this thread. We are on our first day of Breakaway haven today. If anyone has any questions let me know. 
Pre-cruise concierge was a bust - none of our requests were actioned on the ship. 
FYI American Diner is no longer available to haven on embarkation day on the breakaway. 
Everything else has been fabulous, haven restaurant, butler, steward, bar staff, all wonderful. 

Does anyone know what rate of tax/duty they are charging?

I will be cancelling my plus package tomorrow. If they add back a half decent (non rosé) champagne I will upgrade again once onboard.
