I took advantage of a very good offer and got not only the classic drink package, but OBC along with pre-paid gratuities. Additionally, since we took Select and pre-paid, that was to be put back as well. How do I check my reservation to make sure everything promised is on there?

Has no one been to a luxury hotel? You'll find these profit increasing snacks everywhere.
To the complainers: the more people that buy the snacks (and everything else), the cheaper your cabin will be.
Don't want the snacks, move them. NBD.

Since I'm a teacher, I have to cruise at Christmas and March Break. Security is always set up at the entrance to the club, scanning seapass cards (after a certain hour, which is specified in the dailies). Don't know if it is like that during non-peak season.
Because the ship has been sold we think things are being let slide!
I would highly doubt that. I'm sure that fitness is specified VERY clearly in the terms of sale contract. -
I've learned how to say "no kids" in a few different languages... ;)

I hope the balcony smoker and the "vaper" both get kicked off a future cruise.

Will the river cruise portion have the same smoking policy as the Celebrity ships?

I made a choice in life to not have kids. I also make vacation choices that involve options with few or no kids. I'm quite tolerant of a lot of things in life. Chances are I wouldn't be so tolerant of adults when they choose not to follow the rules established by the cruise line. Please don't place yourself (or your kids) in a position that forces the ship crew to act in a way that will only create hard feelings and a negative experience.
Same for me. Additionally, I don't have a problem reminding people of rules if staff doesn't bother. I cruise Celebrity specifically for rules such as pools and smoking, and if those rules aren't followed, I (and sounds like others) will take my business elsewhere.

I'd do the train. Think of it as an excursion!

Since it's non-alcoholic, perhaps one can bring on their own supply of NA beer (like soda or water)?

Anyone remember the proper cheese cart that they had at Olympic? When that cover went back, the smell was amazing. I remember seeing the cart, empty, sitting in the back hall on a subsequent cruise. Sad.

If they can get me to Europe, on a cruise, all in, for 1800, next July... I'll book now. More like, yesterday.

All unions think strikes are a good thing! A dinosaur institution that has long out lived it usefulness:).
Wrong, on both statements.

On our last stop in Coz, we rented a car right at the port. Circumnavigated the whole island. Stopped at many beaches, even did the ruins (which we wouldn't do again). It was inexpensive, fun, easy, safe, and very scenic. I highly recommend it. Walk through the port market, you can't miss the car rental places over by the right. Major companies you will recognize. Credit card was accurately charged the exact amount promised. Waived insurance, I have a Platinum card with coverage. Took pics of the car when returned, just in case.
We'll do it again, and will consider renting on other islands, too. Thinking about this for St Kitts at xmas.

The last time I brought wine on board was the first cruise with a drink package. Wine sat in my room, and came off the ship at the end. I love the drink packages, they have changed cruising for us.
-
I appreciate this heads up. I've had a great meal at Olympic, but I would be very disappointed with small pours on a tasting paired menu. I've been to some very good restaurants for paired tastings, and no pour was ever short.

thanks for the replys. Now its not the tip that is ridiculous but the fact that you are obliged to pay before the service is rendered, there is no service anywhere in the world that requires that. I think that my first cruise with Celebrity starts on a very wrong foot.
Without getting too far off topic, there are many, many services that are billed as gratuities included. If you don't want to pre-pay, don't pick Select.
-
No. If you want Select, you pre-pay the gratuities. Even if you think they are ridiculous.

Don't forget, if you have late dining, you can have anything from the MDR menu delivered to your stateroom during dining hours. Get ready for your late seating with some apps delivered to your room!
-
We've never done dinner in the buffet. However, we do stroll through sometimes after MDR, and some of the choices look pretty good! The staff does a nice job of adjusting the seating area lighting and dressing the tables. The people we see there are usually teens or people avoiding formal wear...
-
Chips and dressing and gravy is delicious.

There are good images on google of the lifeboats. You can look straight out. If you are in a chair, you will not see lifeboats. If you stand at the railing, and look down, lifeboat.

When you look at Ontario, and realize that Thunder Bay is still in the same time zone as Quebec... we are a little crazy up here.
Tonight, on CBC, at 9:00pm, 9:30 in Newfoundland!
Elevator etiquette?
in Celebrity Cruises
Posted · Edited by jayoldschool
I'll lighten the mood a bit with a story. On one of our cruises, there was a group of early teens that turned elevator riding into a sport. They weren't going anywhere, they just ran on and off elevators, riding around. It was difficult at busy times to get an elevator. One evening, on formal night, we were alone in one of the glass elevators. I could see that we were about to stop for the elevator sport team. There were no adults waiting to board. I decided to take action. I told my wife, "get ready", and she just looked at me with a smile. As the elevator slowed, my wife moved right to the door to exit before the group rushed in (they usually never waited for people to disembark). I stayed near the rear of the elevator. As the elevator stopped, I left a large, lingering present for the next occupants. Doors opened, wife disembarked, and I slipped past the boarding hoard. Doors closed, elevator began to ascend, and we both burst out laughing as the teens were making gagging faces as they rode the stink box, trapped, until the next time the doors opened. Revenge was sweet... just not for them.
