Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. That is EXACTLY what I have already done before I made this post 🙂 We think alike!
  2. No I'm not asking to stop all junk mail ever. I'm asking for NCL specifically to stop sending me mail. Please only reply if someone knows who to reach or how to stop NCL postal mail.
  3. Hi folks, I went on 1 NCL cruise this summer, to be honest I did not enjoy it, and I don't plan to repeat. Unfortunately, NCL has been bombarding my mailbox quite literally every single WEEK with flyers and postcards. It is a real nuisance. Does anyone know how to get removed from the mailing list? Part of my dissatisfaction with NCL includes being unable to reach anyone on the phone and unable to find any kind of form on the website for this purpose. I've been marking these things "return to sender" and putting them back into the mailbox for a while, and no success. I also went online to my NCL account and changed my mailing address to an invalid address hoping they would start sending the mail somewhere else and that didn't work either. It has really become a thorn in my side, to see these mailings every week and be reminded of a trip that I didn't like. Thanks if anyone has an idea.
  4. So I booked in May for a July cruise, sounds like it doesn't matter then
  5. My credit is the platinum perk from American Express travel I guess we'll find out!
  6. And follow up q- I have an onboard spending credit can I use that for service charges?
  7. Sorry if this question has been asked and answered already but is there any financial benefit to prepaying the service charge? Is it any cheaper or more expensive, prior to boarding versus at the end? Someone on my group thinks it's cheaper to prepay but I don't really see why they would think so.
  8. a bit of a nonsequitor question about the thermal suite but - is it steamy/humid in the main lounging area? I'm wondering if it would be safe to bring a laptop in there and get some work done from the loungers.
  9. I also noticed the same thing and am annoyed. A while back the price was 199 for my upcoming cruise and then when I went to book it closer in, it's 299. ouch. it better be a good time because I paid it.
  10. this info was particularly helpful thank you! i just signed up for the kayaking with them. very well reviewed on tripadvisor, i'm psyched!
  11. Thank you everyone for all of the wonderful suggestions. Still all ears for anyone else – I am doing a lot of the suggested research and I will report back with the outcome :))))
  12. thanks, yeah i'll just see what happens. i did peel off the labels from some of the other larger containers i am consolidating just in case. i guess i'm mostly nervous because the TSA actually does pull out my powders from the carry-on security scanner, every single time. not sure if the NCL onboarding scanners are the same as what TSA uses but TSA sees my powder as a threat and runs one of those litmus paper tests on it.
  13. thanks everyone for those of you telling me to get little serving sizes - i just don't want to. i prefer a very specific brand which only comes in a huge jug. not all protein powder is the same - lottts of critical differences which probably seem silly to most but not silly to me – and i'll take my chances with the ziplocks. will report back!
  14. I'm about to depart on my first Norwegian cruise and only the 2nd cruise of my lifetime....I recall the last one I went on (a Royal Caribbean charter), they pretty aggressively searched people's bags primarily hunting for alcohol I think. Are they going to be opening up my suitcase and rifling through everything? I'm bringing a LOT of stuff, like protein bars, protein powders, supplements, pills, etc., all just health nut kind of stuff because I don't trust my ability to find perfectly healthy clean-protein food at all times and especially for when I'm off on an excursion. But I'm worried if they are going to confiscate anything. I saw something on the NCL site that said "sealed" food items only, except my protein powder comes in an enormous jug which is just not practical to carry with me so I was planning to divvy up the servings in ziplock bags with my shaker bottle which is how I always travel. I also will have a ton of pills of all shapes colors and sizes and it's also not practical to bring each in its own fullsize unopened original bottle - I consolidate into a 7 day pill sorter with daily compartments. Please advise if I should anticipate any problems? Thanks all.
  15. I'm a first time cruise goer and yes I waited until today Sunday to start looking at excursions for the cruise that is departing in 6 days. I know I'm very last minute and please don't make me feel worse reminding me as such. That said - I am very eager to maximize the shore days and I am also looking to be as physically active as possible - rigorous hikes, etc, for a nature lover who is in pretty good shape. Sadly, the only things left on the NCL excursion list are whale watching boats (endless varieties of the same boring thing) and mediocre low-energy walks etc. For the Sitka stop, there is literally nothing, zero items listed, not even the lame ones. I called and she told me everything was sold out and tough luck I should have planned ahead. Not a great feeling ahead of a vacation that is supposed to be a trip of a lifetime. SO....I'm thinking it will be best for me to just plan my own excursions. I really don't need the company of others, anyway. 🙂. Does anyone have experience hiring non-NCL tour operators, or just planning hikes and outings yourself, during any of the Alaska shore days? All advice welcome, and thank you!!!!
