I agree still not clear how and where you might get test should you not fall with this bogus 24 hour window.  I guess when you are onboard you would need to make your 'appointment' and whoever is in charge of that might be the one to 'determine' if you are within that window or not?

If not then what happens?  Terminal test?  on your own at airport/pharmacy?  Purchase a PCR test to take with you? If staying over one night then at least less stressful to get test done and results in hand?

I think Celebrity needs to clarify what ALL the options are for international travellers given many of us booked based on previous/old information!

That is exactly what I am going to do!

The Healthy at Sea webpages now state the following:

Effective November 16, 2021 - Fully vaccinated guests requiring a COVID-19 test to return to their home country will be provided the option to receive testing onboard prior to disembarkation. Proof of return travel scheduled within 24 hours of disembarkation will be required. Testing will be available at the rate of $55 per person for Antigen and $95 per person for PCR.

There is no mention of testing in the terminal, so I believe that this possibility no longer exists. Consequently, barring further changes, your only options at this point are to seek a location in Fort Lauderdale for your test or purchase something like the Switch Health RT-LAMP test kit and do a self test in your hotel.

If I am unable to receive a PCR test onboard prior to disembarcation, then I will book a test at FLL T2 for 0700 on the day following disembarcation, prior to my flight from T2 at 1120!

Will your new return flight depart within 24 hours of disembarkation? Unless you disembark after 11:20am I’m not sure you’ll be able to get your test from Celebrity. Hopefully they’re not too sticky with the timing because usually everyone has to be off by 10am at the latest. We’ve booked the 7am flight for the day following disembarkation hopefully we’ll be on it with negative test results 🤞

Hi Barwick Cruiser, (fellow Kingstonian), no my (re)booked AC flight 'technically', is 'slightly' outside the 24 hour 'window', but geez louise, so CLOSE!  Yes, I (briefly) briefly thought about booking the 0700 flight, but, although I am an 'early riser; post-cruise, I wanted to give myself a little more 'wiggle room' for time!

    PS  We should meet sometime!

  4. Once X changed the procedure to have the RT-PCR test done, (at cost), after disembarcation, in the Cruise Terminal, I (re)booked my return flight, FLL - YYZ, for the following day & booked a hotel.

Hopefully, that will reduce the stress level!  I'll even wait in the terminal for my results, insist upon a hard copy as well as having the results emailed to me!

My return flight departs FLL at 1120, so I will be at the airport by 0800, (having completed the ArriveCAN documentation before heading to the airport!

So not impressed at all as things are still not 'working' for me.  No confirmation email this morning so called the Celebrity Flights #....asking them about 1) emailing me the confirmation and b) why is the locator # provided not working on the AC site (asking me if I want a refund??? and nothing happening when clicking on the 'add seat' option).

So Frank said he would FIX IT - seeing as I had made full payment and all was good - he was going to get my 'ticket' issued and to try again in a couple of hours and I would easily be able to access my booking and purchase/add seats - well Frank is a liar LOL.

I did get the email confirmation he promised, but it is now evening time and I just tried to log in again - and still getting the weird messages about do you want to 'continue with your refund"?  and no luck clicking on the 'add' seat option....

Will try to call them again in the morning - but it shouldn't be this hard - should it?

This is one reason that I would/will NEVER book Cruise Air!  I stick with AC, Direct Flights, Premium Economy, Aisle Seat, all booked by/through by TA!

Can I be snarky and say that I am not surprised that Shoppers would make a mistake like that? 🙂

Seems they are having some issues with politics. They are also the only place that does not allow online booking for flu shots and antigen testing.

Clearly they do not have good customer service.

This is incorrect, as my go-to SDM, (only a 10 minute walk from where I live), does allow online booking for flu shots, because that is exactly what I did), and received it the very first day that it became available on October 13th.!

$95 for a PCR isn't too bad in the overall picture.  Have seen airports and resorts in the $200-300 range for PCR.  We were going to Rome this May and were staying a couple of extra days.  The $95 is about right for what we were going to have to pay.  I'm not surprised the cruise lines will probably start passing the cost to the customer due to costs, although doing it to currently booked guests is wrong.  I firmly believe you are going to see the PCR tests fall by the wayside in the relatively near future for the friendlier optigen test.  But how soon is the key.  Friends recently returned from Florida and got a neuro molecular test (?) for free at a CVS.  Met Canadian requirements instead of the PCR, had results in less than 4 hours, and they were good to go.  Good heads up to keep an eye on things as they continue to change.  Thanks.

Evidently, for example, the cost for a (Rapid) PCR at FLL T3 is $149, with the results available in 45 minutes!

Many thanks, very much appreciated as I start gathering information.

Fouremco, I think that I will book an appointment, online, for a PCR Test at FLL T3, for 0700, the morning of my flight from FLL - YYZ, (at a cost of $149, with the test result available in 45 minutes); providing I am unable to have it done onboard, prior to disembarcation, for $95!

I'll get a 'take-out' breakfast at my hotel;, taxi to T3, get tested, head to T2 & Check-In, (after I've taken the time to 'upload' my ?negative result, etc. to the Arrive CAN App)!

I just received an email today for my upcoming December 11 sailing on Celebrity.  It appears they are now passing the cost of home re entry testing onto the traveller.

Great, another 'wrinkle' (and added cost in USD)!  I just had my flight (re)booked, FLL to YYZ from the day of disembarcation to the following day; technically 'outside' of the 24 hour 'window'!  I guess that I should plan on being one of the last cruisers to disembark & enjoy an 'extended' breakfast instead!

Celebrity did very well. Looks as if it was rated highest overall of the non-luxury Lines. Best for the money; 6th for couples (the top 5 were luxury lines); 2nd for Caribbean and 5th for European itineraries (again, the top 4 were Luxury).

    not bad.

Disney was #1 for Caribbean but I’d not go on a ship that had talking rats.

    den

I've cruised Disney, (once) & surprisingly, it went quite well for an adult cruiser with no kids!

    Disney Cruises are EXPENSIVE $$$!

I know!  Both my TA and I were on hold on different occasions for 2 hurs plus!  And when I did get someone I could barely understand with their accent.  I may try calling really early or late.

When calling to change flights (not on Celebrity) with the same issue I thought it was hilarious that I could hear a rooster crowing continuously in the background.  Most people I get lately seem to be from the Phillipines!

    Or India!

We laminated our originals and so received a new card for our boosters.

Thankfully, where I live in Canada, I'm eligible to receive my (Pfizer) booster, 6 months after having received my second dose!

We're a little behind here in Canada!

I suppose one could hang around the terminal for an hour and a half or so and ask for a printed test result, if they in fact are set up to do so. As most people will leave as soon as they are tested and await the email heading to either the airport or their hotel, I don't know if Celebrity will bother with printed results. Hopefully Celebrity will eventually start providing details on their new approach.

I purposely booked refundable flights to enable flexibility. I've not looked at West Jet yet, but my preferred option right now is to overnight and bump my flight on AC by a day.

I booked (Premium Economy), refundable flights, with AC, as well, for the same reason as you!

It would be the cost, $$$, of a post cruise overnight, for $400+!

And , like you, my preferred option is to overnight, & fly FLL - YYZ, the following day, at 1120.  I have looked at the seat map for the AC flight the following day and I see that my preferred seat is still available!  I'll have my TA effect this change today.

I've looked at West Jet for flights & their flight, FLL - YYZ departs at 1200, so not enough of a difference in time to make a difference!  Also, West Jet appears more expensive in cost for flights when compared to AC!

I do hope that it works out for you. We have an 11:20 flight and will probably change that to the following day. That will take the time pressure off, and even better, they've added a direct flight!

Let us know how things work out for you. Bon voyage!

You must be flying AC as I have the same departure time from FLL!  The next AC flight does not depart FLL until 1720!

I'm thinking either stay O/N or (re)booked my return flight with West Jet, (if possible, without penalty)!

You can head to the airport, but you won't be able to check in until that email arrives, you have submitted all of your information on the ArriveCAN app, and have received your receipt.

And if one does NOT have ANY mobile device(s), what would be their option(s) for receiving the result of their Covid-19 PCR Test, while waiting at Check-In at FLL?

  16. My passport has my 'usual' name; middle and last; (omitting my first name); which I have always gone by my entire life!

All my (three) Covid-19 Vaccination Cards have my FULL name; (which only appears on my Ontario Health Card).

My TA has informed me that the fact that my FULL name appears on my Vaccine Cards but NOT on my Passport is a non issue as my passport is 'only' a Travel Document'!

I believe that they will open up to those under 70 starting in January. As the booster shots won't be given until 6 months after people's second shot, most younger Canadians won't be eligible for some time anyway. DW and I are in our mid-70s and the earliest second shot available for us was mid-June. That means that the earliest date we can book for our booster will be close to Christmas.

I received my second shot of the Pfizer Vaccine on June 16th., so will be eligible for the booster shot mid December!  What a great Christmas present!

I planned to go to CVS or Walgreens for a test for our upcoming cruise in 2022.  I checked and was told my insurance company will not pay for travel Covid testing.  Not sure about Humana, my current insurance company.

Read that if the testing facility gives you a test and your insurance company rejects it, you will be billed.

    Has anyone experienced this?

Recommendations for any reasonably priced Covid tests near Tampa?

    Thanks.

tbmrt, I live in Ontario, Canada, and WalMart provides Covid-19 'Rapid Antigen Testing', with an appointment, at a cost of $19.97, (with the results in 15 minutes)!

We didn't have to upload the results of the test into the ArriveCan app, but did need to be ready to show them if asked by the CBSA agent, so I kept them handy in my carry-on. When we filled out the ArriveCan form, we just had to check the box attesting that yes we had taken the PCR test and yes the results were negative.

We *did* need to upload copies of our vaccination record, but the app had the option to use your phone to take a picture of the actual cards; super easy.

We also didn't need to print the ;receipt' that the ArriveCan app provides once you're finished your submission; just showed it to the CBSA agent on my phone. She never asked for the actual PCR test results.

OrcaGirl, thank you you very much for your detailed clarification to my post.  I do appreciate it.

I have the ArriveCanada ap on my old Samsung phone and can do a dummy booking. I tried to add the ap to my tablet in order to have an alternative. It tells me that my signin failed- 4 times. I Uninstalled the ap and reinstalled it twice. Same result. Then I noticed in the upper right corner  the words " Alternate Format." I Will wait a few days and retry because we won't need it for a few  months, and maybe it will be finished. I just like to be prepared.

Since I do not, as yet, have a 'Smartphone'; (although I 'likely' will purchase the highly rated 'Samsung A32 5G 64 GB'); I have an 'old' Samsung Tablet, (16 GB), on which I downloaded the ArriveCan App with no problem!
