  1. There is the option to send your checked bags ahead and pick them up at the port of NO.  There are several companies that do this, and it may be worth the $100 to not stress about baggage claim with such a short time frame.

  2. The wives may not drink alcohol much (I don't either), but they may like mocktails, Starbucks, and bottled water.  They should calculate if they would drink enough of those items to make up the difference or not.  (Assuming the husbands are upgrading to plus)

It is marketing...and you have to look at the offer instead of "what it was before".

    I could have a $1000 cabin. Guest A $500 + Guest B $500.

Market that cabin at "50% off"

    Guest A $250 + Guest B $250

Market that cabin at "2nd Guest sails FREE"

    Guest A $500 + Guest B $0

    Which "sale" is better/legit?

Well if you are Guest B, the last one.

    😂😂

  4. I have items in my cart it won't remove.  I have deleted the app. I have logged in and out.  I have erased cookies, and reset the phone.  I have tried loading the app on 3 different devices. The items are always in the cart.  I have talked to the app chat and they claim there is nothing in there.

I am not a fan of their app!

It is ligit. Supply and Demand is driving costs up right now for all things (eggs in my grocery store went from $0.79/dozen to nearly $3/dozen).

The Second Guest Free is similar to the 50% off offer that has been running until now. Just another marketing effort (also disadvantages solo passengers). Which is similar to the 40% off offer prior to that. Prices have been on a steady increase, as expected.

The 50% off sale was cheaper than this Black Friday sale 😂

That used to be what NCL would do, and you'd also be able to use the OBC on that same cruise. NCL has changed its practice.  It is now giving (only once per reservation) an FCC in the amount of the price difference. The FCC is not issued until the end of the cruise with the price drop, and it must be applied to a cruise that sails within 12 months.   So, more generous in amount,  BUT with the 12-month deadline, some folks won't be able to use it.  Clearly it's intended to stimulate new bookings, and I understand that.

This is good to know.  I was looking at booking a cruise for 2024, but would make sure it is either on the same dates or slightly before the 2023 cruise so I could use this credit.  Thanks!

Is it 12 months from the last day of your cruise or 12 months from the first day of the cruise?

  7. When you call, you may want to check on your Prima package too.

The FAS+ package normally does not include streaming.  Maybe they are making an exception for Prima, or maybe the package is changing Jan 1st, but I would confirm it.  Normally it is includes unlimited wifi w/o streaming. Other people have been able to upgrade the + package to include streaming (for an additional fee ofc).

Today was check in day for our Dec 11th cruise. They have an option for priority items:

    Priority Check in

    Priority Disembarkation

    Priority Tender

$50 spa credit port day per passenger ( who knows if this is off a $200 or higher service or what)??

Has anyone does this? Is the "normal" onboard time for a low level returning customer, BRONZE, about 15-30 minutes later than HAVEN and elite guests?

    Thank you!

If you thought about heading to the spa anyways, and had an early flight home, and were not using NCL transport (which sits and waits for passengers before heading to the airport), I would think this may be worth it.

It does say you are limited to use the spa credit only face and body treatments, so you still must pay $50-100+ for your spa treatment.

Personally found that travelling with Gravol and Gravol Ginger very helpful. However, since 2018 always travel with the Reliefband and it is the best solution for all types of motion sickness. It is a non drug and side effect free solution: https://www.reliefband.com

I have looked at these but haven't found any personal testimonies. I am glad to know they work.

Which model do you have?  I wish their website had a comparison chart, although the waterproof sport one seems to be the top option to have on a boat.

You can re-price all you want, BEFORE final payment.  The one adjustment limit is AFTER final payment.  Just be aware that if any of the perks change between when you booked and when you re-price you will then get the new perks and give up what you had at the time you booked initially.

Thank you!  I guess the agent was not well informed.  Unless Southwest has an amazing sale, the only perk I don't want to lose is the BOGO airfare.  There's no way right now I can match that discounted fare since I must fly across the US.

So since final payment is not until Feb, I can call for an adjustment every time the room drops?

  11. I booked our first NCL cruise in the last few hours of the 40% off sale. Of course, hours later it dropped several hundreds of dollars. :classic_blink:

I would have cancelled and rebooked, but since you only get ONE price adjustment, I wanted to wait for the Black Friday sale. (ALSO, I was told I booked the last room in that category, so cancelling the first reseevation and trying to rebook wasn't the best idea.)  Now, it's only $200 different. Is the Cyber Monday sales better than the Black Friday sale?  I would like a price adjustment but I would like the greatest savings, ofc.

If the cruise price drops after final payment, I can use my one time price adjustment to get OBC instead?

You can ask for your daughter as a reasonable accommodation based on disability. If you frame as an accommodation request they may allow it if you can show disability related reason (would regular pool deck mean sensory overload so to enjoy the cruise as a non disabled person would, would a quieter space be beneficial?)

I hadn’t thought of this.  We don’t vacation generally and never remember to ask for accommodation requests.  I have just begun to read the disability boards so I do not know what NCL offers for accommodations.  Thank you for the idea!

I was agreeing with mjkacmom and www3traveler and didn’t think she would have much luck.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.  Just wanted to mention that the Thermal Spa is not always quiet.  I did a Caribbean cruise on the Escape in February and that Thermal Spa was the noisiest one I have ever been in.  I like going for the peace and quiet but many of the passengers in there that day (it was the afternoon of a port day, which is usually empty) thought it was there own private party area.  The pool was packed, heated tile lounger 'hogs', lots of yelling back and forth. It was just as bad on a sea day. I had a spa balcony cabin and this was the least amount of time I had ever spent in the Thermal Spa.  Hopefully if this is what you chose, the passengers will be better behaved.  And before I get flamed, I am pretty laid back and realize that everyone who pays for it can behave as they want but I had just never experienced this on any other ship (and I know it can happen on any ship).

Whatever you decide, I hope you and your family enjoy your cruise.

Thank you for the welcome and thorough answer!  We were looking at a spa balcony room since it is cheaper to get a spa balcony room than a balcony room + Thermal Spa pass.  But then I started questioning the decision, and started wondering if I should stick with a balcony + Vibe pass.  I have never been on NCL before, but went on Disney years ago and RCL as a child.

Ofc I expect that any location may have the rowdy people that come.  Do they keep the level down at Vibe more so than the Thermal Spa?

  13. I am looking at taking my son and daughter on the Escape in June ‘23 for a Caribbean cruise. The trip will be for my son’s 21st birthday and my daughter’s high school graduation.

If I upgraded to only one place, which one is a better choice?  I sunburn easily so I was leaning towards the Thermal Spa. But maybe the padded chairs and private drinks on the quiet sun deck is better?  I am not a big drinker, but I like mocktails. And I love fresh sea air.

Also, my daughter will be 55 days short of her 18th birthday when we board the ship. Is there any way they would let me pay to get her a pass to either place? She has autism (with sensory issues) and fibromyalgia and would love a quiet space away from the main pool deck. I am afraid they would be very strict on the dates, but she would be so close in age that I was hoping they may have a grace period.
