Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I will be on the WC 2023/2024 from L.A to London. I was told by my travel agent - who asked Viking directly - if I could use my SBC to book excursions before the cruise and she told me I could. When we went on the Homeland cruise last Sept 2022 Viking only allowed us to use SBC when we booked cruises on board. Does anyone know for sure? Are many of you taking advantage of the free shipment of luggage to the ship? For those that have done it in the past what are the pros and cons? For a WC you would think free shipment of luggage would also include return trip.
  2. I bought the Viking medical insurance for the 121 day world cruise so hopefully there will be some assistance from Viking. I saw a posting of a woman traveling solo who was told she needed to get checked out at a local hospital and no one at Viking reached out to see if she was O.K. She had to get a taxi back to the ship on her own with no help from Viking. I will make that one of my many questions for Viking. Does anyone have any experience with Medical assistance on Viking?
  3. I am not sure I understood the article discussing opting out or not of paying pre-paid gratuities. Is our fare increased (Viking 121 day WC) if gratuities are included in our fare? Is it an option to have the pre-paid gratuities added back to your account so you can pay the crew with a nice fat envelope at the end of the cruise. I always like to leave a big tip to the crew that takes care of me. So if gratuities are pre-paid or included in our fare, what % is given to the crew? I want to make sure I am giving enough extra. I do not understand how you can opted out of paying pre-paid gratuities when you have already paid your cruise fare. or why you would want to opt out. Thank You
  4. Thank You for clarifying info on the promotions. I live in Hawaii and I am. US.citizen. I would like to ship a 50lb bag to the ship. I am working with a travel agent who is helping me but is it normal for Viking to not want to answer question if I call them directly because I am working with an agent??? I am paying a 37,000 single supplement fee and feel like Viking does not have time to assist me. My agent recommends that I fly in 1-2 day early to L.A. Viking has a 2 day pre cruise for 899.00 which seems like a lot for two hotel nights, 2 breakfast and a tour on the way to the ship. If I go early and get my own hotel, I also have to find my own way to the ship. Does Viking still pay for air if I fly in a couple days early and do not do there pre cruise? What do most people do, it seems like it is too risky to fly in the same day the ship leaves. Thank You for your help. I really appreciate it. Maggie
  5. In reviewing what Viking has to offer guests traveling on 121 day Neptune ship: It looks like Visa serves are paid for by Viking and it also looks like free luggage shipment from home to ship is also included. Business air, transfers to and from airport are included if you book Viking air and free wifi and silver beverage pkg. and gratuities. This is my first solo world cruise with Viking. For those of you seasoned Viking world cruise travelers can you tell me if I am understanding the the promotions correctly. Also does everyone bring at least 4 passport photos and have at least 5 blank pages free for visa use????? Thank You Maggie.
  6. Hi, This is Maggie. I will be traveling solo on the 121 day Viking cruise from L.A to London 2024. I am going to use the Viking visa service. I will be coming back from Africa the end of Sept 2023. I have been advised by my travel agent that I need at least 7 blank pages in my passport and 4 extra passport photos for the world cruise. I have also been told that because I am going through a travel agent Viking d oes not want me to call them with questions. Has anyone else had this experience? Also do we send our passport into Viking for the visa service and if so how long do they keep it. I will only have 3 months between trips. I could really use some advice and I would like to call Viking directly but when I did that the last time Viking Rep called the travel agent and told them I should not call them. Any advice. My agent is very busy so I feel a bother calling her with questions.
