We cruised Europe in 2016 we were kidding the several Canadians on the cruise that we would be moving to Canada if our candidate lost , she did but we stayed in Texas 😁 anyway. We normally get a table for two anyway.

I'm still waiting for the insufferable 'celebrities' who promised to leave the US in the wake of the 2016 election to just leave already.  Speaking of Texas, I would be delighted to have that conversation with a Texan but I'll avoid embarrassing DH and stick with the weather and things to do in port. 😇

This.  I think the point is that if you're on the ship, you COULD decide to disembark once you've arrived.

And, honestly, why would you go to Alaska and not leave the ship?  How often are you going to have that opportunity?

In addition to your excellent points and the legalities articulated by @Ferry_Watcher, I would think one would want a visa or any other doc required to disembark at all ports of call in the event of illness or injury that would require treatment off the ship.

You're correct...my bad!  Great line regardless!

Thank you for your correct usage of you're vs your.  My nails on a chalkboard grammar faux pas is when someone writes "Your going to enjoy a wonderful meal in the Connie dinning room.  You're DH/DW will love there escargot."  Ackkk, I can't believe that which I just wrote.  🤣🤣

I can't even imagine buying clothes for a cruise or really any other travel. If it's warm destination I just pull out stuff from my summer 'wardrobe.' Honestly, what's up with that please?

Although live in Florida, I dress up more for dinner on a cruise than I would going out for dinner or cocktails at home.  Same with going to the beach; at home I'll typically wear a t-shirt and shorts but going ashore on a cruise I prefer a cute sundress.  Maybe it's just me, but I have a few wardrobe pieces that I only wear on a cruise but not at home.  Perhaps I need to up my game at home.  🤷‍♀️🤣

  5. We enjoyed our Ascent pre- pre-cruise so much that we booked the Xcel Inaugural while on board.  Sailed Ascent with zero expectations as far as service and food while they worked out the first sailing bugs and we were pleasantly surprised at how much we didn't experience brand new ship hiccups.

Very interested in your SV photos. We are booked on the Ascent in February and this will be our first time on X. We are booked in a SV which I think we were lucky to get. Would you please post a photo of the bathroom? TIA

Bathroom pics.  Shower door opens out but because of a lip on the bottom of the door it doesn't drip when opened after showering.  Toiletries made in China.

  7. I'm a $10 Cristalino gal; especially when it's on BOGO at Publix. 🤷‍♀️  Very surprised that Cliquot in an Ascent tin (Cliq is an anniversary staple as we received a bottle for our 'no gifts' wedding) is $69 in the onboard store.  I think that's relatively inexpensive because Cliq is $50 @ Costco and Publix right now.

  8. We're joining you for the first leg of your Ascent B2B to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary also on November 23 so Happy Thanksgiversary to you!  🎉  🎉  This was an unplanned celebration for our milestone as was our 10th when we participated in a group vow renewal and 75th celebration of the campus chapel of my alma mater (Heinz Chapel for the Pittsburgh folks).  Thank you for documenting this exciting journey of firsts!

  9. I've found stylish and inexpensive cruisewear at Venus dot com.  Word of warning, they do carry some shall I say "provacative" pieces that aren't my style (lots of cutouts, midriff-baring, very low cut) and/or too young for my 60++ body (too tight, too short, ripped jeans, backless).  And I still cringe when the UPS driver drops off my packages emblazoned with "S*xy Style."  🤣

That said, I have picked up cute and stylish tops (haven't purchased any shorts, pants, skirts yet) and a couple of chic night dresses for which I received unsolicited compliments. Also purchased cute 'cruise sandals' that I figured I would toss after the cruise, but again, received compliments on the style so now they're keepers.  Also bought a couple of swimsuits, coverups and casual dresses super cheap.  Best part is they have fantastic sales (ie, 30, 45, 75% off) and I've never paid full price.  Easy returns, too, so it wasn't a big deal to find my correct size and fit.
