  1. but you also said "The ones I see, which are supposed to also open tomorrow go to 12/25 on Valiant, Resilent and Scarlet in Caribbean and NZ/Australia." You didn't indicate any European cruises being added. I'm just trying to find a cruise with RS cabin availability that is not Med in June-August, Caribbean during hurricane season, or in the Eastern Hemisphere. And if there isn't something like that appearing by December 28, then I just gave billionaire Sir Richard Branson an $8000 interest-free loan for a year, with nothing else to show for it.
  2. So hurricane cruises and cruises on the other side of the world. Sigh. I'm going to have to end up getting a refund, as the rebook offer seems completely useless to me.
  3. The current list on the rebook form stops at April 2025. So there are no dates to be released on the 11th that are for sailings after April 2025? A Sailor Services rep told me there would be, but I doubted whether what he was saying was accurate. I'm not interested in summer/fall 2025 sailings in the Caribbean, for obvious meteorological reasons.
  4. given the difficulties finding available RS cabins to rebook to with the current schedule, I'm most interested in knowing whether the 2025 Mediterranean schedule will be released on the 11th
  5. will there be new itineraries released on the 11th that are not already listed in the rebook form?
  6. At this point, I'm not sure if anyone is sure what is happening, especially VV.

  8. As far as I know, the problem is limited only to those who had a cancelled VL cruise. That doesn't sound like a load issue, more like a bug with how VV cancelled the cruises.
  9. same. Berkshire Hathaway told me it was Vv's issue ("operational failure", or something like that), not theirs.
  10. It doesn't have to be a b2b; my single 8-day trip was cancelled, and my account no longer works either. Presumably, everyone kicked off of VL now has a non-working account.
  11. Well, this is apparently "as good as it gets in the cruise biz these days."
  12. They took my boat, which works, and gave it to a group set to sail on a different boat, which does not work. How is that different than I describe? If customers are just supposed to shrug off getting screwed, "as good as it gets" is always going to be bad. I didn't use a TA, so that's irrelevant. Sure, except the terms of the rebook *require* that I "sail like a rockstar". Care to place a wager on >=8 day voyages roundtrip out of Miami being released on the 11th?
  13. Yeah, dude, I know about your $2400/$2200 scenario. You bring it up often. For those of us trying to rebook a RS cabin, their "offer" isn't very helpful because I can't find any cruises of a comparable or greater length with my cabin available. And more OBC on a cruise where I already have a bar tab and more OBC than I can use doesn't help either. If you can't understand why some people aren't happy, let me explain it in one sentence: they cancelled my trip, gave it to somebody else, and gave me a replacement offer that I can't actually use, along with OBC I can't use. Does that help you understand at all?
  14. Same. Apparently just canceling my trip so they could give it to someone else wasn't punitive enough.
  15. It's this kind of attitude that enables poor treatment of customers.
  16. where did you see that it was 14 days? Virgin's PDF says it's 8 days.
  17. yeah, this whole thing has been a real, um, shipshow
  18. yep, I never even read the refund option, because I really don't want to do that. I just got off the phone with Sailor Services who said 2025 Med cruises will be added to the rebook list on the 11th, so I'm just going to sit tight until then.
  19. Where did you get the December 28 date? A refund is the last resort for me, and would mean that I never consider Virgin again. I just want a Brilliant Suite for a non-Australia sailing that is more expensive than my cancelled sailing, and I don't think that's possible with their current schedule.
  20. I had an 8-day VL cruise wiped out. Since that's the longest VV Caribbean itinerary, and there's no real benefit to rebooking the same or shorter cruise, I looked at Med cruises. But RS cabins for 2024 Med cruises are a bit hard to come by, and the 2025 Med schedule was not released. Australia is really hard to get to, so my options seem a bit bleak. What happens if I don't do anything and just wait them out for 2025 Med before I rebook, so I can get the right cabin class and an attractive date/itinerary? There doesn't seem to be a "rebook by X date or else" in the cancellation email.
  21. Same here. My options appear to be to pick a shorter Carib cruise and get the difference refunded (no real benefit), pick a Med 2024 cruise and hope I can find one where my cabin isn't already sold out (good luck), pay out the nose to go to Australia, or get a refund and wash my hands of this nonsense. If Med 2025 cruises were available, I'd just pick that option, but they aren't.
  22. There's nothing on the rebook form beyond April 2025. I thought I might rebook for Med in 2025, since my cabin is unavailable for so many 2024 Med sailings, but no dice.
  23. some folks in this thread will just throw up their hands and tell you there aren't any guarantees in life, as if that explains this clusterfudge
  24. and they cancelled trips for people who weren't even booked on the ship that isn't ready, which is just ... really something
  25. Sure, except those are problems that cause a cancellation for the affected ship. Less common to get cancelled for a problem with a ship that I'm not even booked on.
