Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you so much everyone! I have such good ideas to start planning! @Gardyloo Thanks so much for all the wonderful ideas. We are 60 year old hubby and wife married 42 years. We like history, nature and parks. Not big on large cities and now thinking of skipping Seattle since several are saying what we also wondered about. You gave me some excellent ideas to research 🙂
  2. Hi everyone, East coast gal here. Cruising HAL out of Vancouver June 8th and have several days on either side to see Vancouver and the West Coast (rental car). What parts of the Great Pacific Northwest should I not miss? Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks so very much everyone. So much to think about! Seawalk is off the list 🙂 I am a teacher so I have summer available for June & July. Hubby will only get about 8-9 days so it will be a traditional 7 day cruise, but we can depart any day of the week. If I really think of our most desired, it would be Glacier Bay & being able to sit on a balcony and see the Inside Passage as we sail past so it looks like we probably have to do a N/S cruise in order to get that in 2024. Plane travel from Florida to Anchorage, Vancouver, or Seattle probably isn't much different in dollars anyway. I would say I'm a bit of a "newer ship" kind of gal as I just got off Carnival Liberty and will NEVER sail that line again. Disgusting! But, I am willing to try any age CLEAN ship to get those 3 biggies on our bucket list (time in port, GNP & Inside Passage balcony views). The main reason I am looking at Princess over HAL is the amount of time in port and the National Park Rangers that come on board Princess, but maybe HAL has those too? I'm not even certain how to see the time in port on the websites.... Guess I need more School of YouTube! Again, thanks to all! I am adding your ideas to my ever-growing spreadsheet. Hoping to book it by the end of the month 🙂
  4. Hello and advanced thanks for any help! I need to decide which Princess ship is right for us 🙂 I have been watching videos and reading all about Alaska cruising for the last 2 years. I have narrowed it to the Princess line due to the line's longer port times over other cruise lines (please correct me if wrong). We are a 59 year-old married couple. We are used to mega-ships out of Florida, but Alaska seems to be a 100% different experience so size and bells&whistles do not matter. We want longest port times, tight to the coast scenery, a decently furnished ship not showing its age. I'd like to experience the SeaWalk unless it takes away the coastal itinerary. I noticed this was the case with Discovery Princess. We'd prefer a round-trip, but most of the Inside Passage with Glacier Bay NP seem to be one way so we can try that if it gets us all our "wants." We have no interest in touring upper Alaska as we've done that via land touring. Here are our wants in order of most to least: Longest port times, Glacier Bay NP, Skagway (railway), balcony views of inside passage, whale watching, Naturalist talks (and puppies!), seafood restaurant, Ketchikan, SeaWalk and decent food. Shows & activities take a backseat on this one. I'm so afraid I will miss something if I choose the wrong ship!
