I’m so looking forward to your Venezia review to get excited for our Firenze cruise in November.

We are taking our first ever Carnival cruise on the Firenze in November so I am very much enjoying your pictures to give us an idea of what to expect.

Our last cruise was 3 generations to Alaska on the Disney Wonder. My mom and dad, sister and her hubby, my hubby and I and our 2 boys. I agree, dinner with everyone was awesome, though we did do a lot together during the day as well. Being able to sit and talk about our day as we ate dinner was amazing and the servers were so great with our boys (2yo and 6yo at the time)

If no one else is in the pool, maybe you can swim underwater but unless the weather is poor the pools get very busy and there isn’t room for actual swimming

the pools aren't really meant for swimming, more for bobbing in the water, you aren't going to be swimming laps

probably Captain Hook and Mr Smee, also likely Captain Jack, depending on performers onboard and barring illness.
possibly also the sensational six (and chip and dale) in pirate gear

The salt scrub isn't much of a massage (if it's similar to ones I've had at land-based spas) it's an exfoliating scrub so they can't massage too hard or they scrub your skin off. You'll feel smooth and soft after the scrub but not relaxed muscle-y like after a regular massage. Also as they scrub off dead skin they may not be able to do the service if you have any sunburn as it would be too abrasive.

Looking forward to the rest of this review! I have used your Venezia review to get excited for our first Carnival cruise on the Firenze in November. Thinking about an East Coast cruise possibly with the kids in 25 or 26.

working at a land based restaurant where tips aren't added on the every drink and working on a cruise ship that adds an 18% gratuity to each drink ordered is very different. Of course land based servers who get nothing a a one drink order are not happy. the difference is that the bard enters on ships got their 18% on the drink already so anything on top is a happy extra.

Lol, what are you reading on that Kindle?? 🤣
possibly those aforementioned racy books 😇
if Greg took a picture of almost any page on my book he'd probably get banned from CC

As a Brit, I must defend our bacon! The bacon eaten in America is what we would call streaky bacon and although available in supermarkets and butchers, is rarely served in restaurants. The most popular form of bacon is back bacon which is similar (I think) to Canadian bacon. How it is cooked varies by establishment but few places will cook it so it is crispy and brittle unless you ask.
A typical "full English" breakfast will consist of several slices of back bacon along with pork sausages, fried eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, baked beans, fried bread and perhaps even black pudding. Hash browns are a controversy; are they English or an American import???
Canadian bacon is back bacon with a peameal coating

We didn't cruise on Carnival to Alaska, we have only cruised Disney but we have done this tour for whale watching in Juneau with and without kids and it was amazing each time:https://www.stepintoalaska.com/excursions/alaskas-whales-glaciers-rainforest-trails/

Also if you are checking bags the last time I flew into Orlando the baggage carousel they sent out bags to was broken and it took and hour and a half after landing to get our bags.

Hey Kim- love ALL your reviews (shakira grew up!) surprised you’re looking at AK. Even more surprised that I am too lol. A tiny bit of background: I cruise almost exclusively with CCL. I live within shouting distance of port of Manhattan so that’s where cruises have been from about the past 15 years. I am now a solo cruiser and the thought of doing a cruise to AK honestly scares me. But-I don’t want to look back and wish I had someday. I’m with jamman and LOVE spirit class so looking at my old friend Spirit for 2025. Now to my question: I really don’t want to do any
lengthy excursions. I’d really like to just SAIL Alaska-just see the mountains and glaciers etc. maybe just stay on or near the ship. I wonder if this itinerary is for me or I should jump ship and go with another line. I’ve heard glacier bay is must see? This just lists Tracy arm. Anyone have any advice? Sorry for the highjack Kim! (Thinking I should have started another thread but I’m too tired to do this over lol-apologies!)
I have only cruised to Endicott glacier and never done Glacier Bay and it is still beautiful and awe-inspiring

I have done 2 cruises to Alaska, both in an inside cabin. I say the best cabin for an Alaskan cruise is the one you can afford that gets you on the ship!
Pros of an inside cabin:
- It stays light FOREVER in the summer in Alaska, having the inside cabin allows you to get great sleep with no light seepage
Cons of an inside cabin: there is beautiful scenery everywhere and you will have to go to a public deck to enjoy it. The pro to this is that the scenery is all around you and being on an upper, open deck allows you to enjoy being literally surrounded by the beauty

Wildra, you crack me up! Meskal, I’m sure this is the dumbest question ever asked on cc but do you think a cruise to AK would still be good if I stayed on the ship?
It is beautiful just from the ship. The really nice thing about Alaska is that most ports are right in the tourist area so you walk off the ship right into the touristy port area. We did do excursions at every port but were able to do an excursion, re-board the ship for a late lunch and then pop back off to wander around the port area.

Did you use the same US address for the shipping and billing addresses? My only option is paying with credit card and it defaults to US only address when adding a new billing address
Yes, I used the same us address for shipping and billing and I just used the zip code hack as above so it would match my credit card address.

anyone know if Canadians without a US address can buy these too?
I did, I used my office address in the US but put the postal code without the letters and added 00 to them like you do at US gas pumps (eg T2P 2V6 becomes 22600 for the zip code) You could probably just use a random US hotel address for the street address as well.

Alaska has been on our bucket list for so long, it’s rusty and full of holes. Hopefully we will get it together soon. If we wait too long, that trip will be sponsored by Bengay, Aspercreme, and compression wraps! 😭 W’s not getting any younger.
You HAVE to do Alaska! It’s such an amazing, beautiful, stunning cruise! I’ve done 2 and would go back tomorrow if I could!!
