Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes. Noticed a slight musty smell the minute we opened the cabin door - but not strong enough to continue smelling it once inside. I did notice it every time we opened the door for the first couple of days and then went 'nose blind' to it.
  2. Yes please don't be shy about making a fuss about it. We were trying to be 'polite' and accommodating while they 'attempted' to fix this issue. Six days after disembarking we are still very sick with sinus infections. If you smell that musty scent as you open the door the first day, don't dismiss it. As a pre-emtive measure, I would block the floor, sink and tub drains immediately (it might help). If it's in the carpet etc... just keep as much fresh air circulating as possible. Crack the cabin door and the balcony door and create wind tunnel for awhile - it did seem to help clear out the room from time to time. However, fingers crossed you won't have an issue and will have a fantastic cruise.
  3. We we both on the same TA. As i mentioned in my original post, we were in 11209, just across the deck from you. There has to be a systemic problem here - we're still sick as dogs nearly six days after diembarking. Luckily, we didn't notice the creaking sounds - a small silver lining.
  4. Even if you can't smell it, it is still there. I waited until day 7 of our 14 day trip before I reported it to the Retreat staff. I would say something sooner, rather than later and don't waste time with your stateroom attendant or 'AG' (butler). It will go no where... It became a major problem for us (we're now home with respiratory and sinus infections).
  5. Glad to hear someone had no issues. Yes, the issue was reported many times - they checked the AC and flushed the plumbing / drains (supposedly) but it was in the carpet, drapes etc. They finally managed to move us to another cabin on the final night and the difference was immediate. I almost slept through the night.
  6. Just got off the Beyond (Transatlantic Oct. 30 to Nov. 13) and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. Without going into too much detail - we had a musty odor in our SkySuite (11209) which I foolishly brushed off as just a "down south smell". Every time I opened the door I got that odor for a split second. Day by day we got sicker and sicker until Day 10 when I realized what was happening - we were sick due to mold exposure. Coughing, headaches, sneezing... I will post a more extensive review on this but I did want to post a warning to anyone boarding this ship. If your cabin smells at all musty / moldy DO NOT brush it off. It is not unique to a single cabin as we spoke to many other people experiencing similar symptoms (although not all as bad as ours). Don't underestimate the damage a musty cabin can do on your health - particularly if you have other conditions like asthma (which my partner has). I'm also curious as to how many other people onboard experienced a similar issue. Anyone? However, just wanted to flag this for everyone - take care.
