Well, it is like this. The gangs want money and power. If they get control of the country, they aren’t going to overrun Labadee. They are going to shakedown Royal Caribbean for protection cash and they are going to shakedown all the local suppliers. They aren’t going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg. While they are evil thugs, they are also smart business people. Things will likely get much worse for the people of Haiti, and that is heartbreaking. Truly it is. It is and will continue to be hell for the people of Haiti. But cruise passengers on the other side of the armed gate will be in paradise like they have been for several years while there is suffering on the other side.

I booked a cruise this fall that stops in Labadee, Grand Cayman, and George Town. I booked this trip because it fit everyone’s schedule, I could get 3 handicapped cabins for my mom who is 82 and her sisters who are 80. Labadee is a walled fortress. You can only book excursions inside the fortified privately owned area. the other two ports off excursions that are through the cruise. They have a vested interest in keeping us safe as having people killed or kidnapped on their excursions would be very very bad for their multi-billion dollar bottom line. Plus, all 3 of our moms are in their 80’s and we have to rent scooters for them. Like I don’t even know if they will Have enough energy to get off the boat. I need to lose 80 pounds. I said to one of my other cousins, who is about like me, “you it isn’t often that I in a group where I am one of the most physically fit people.” You gotta find the glory where you can. LOL

What is the deal with booking reservations for the 4 main restaurants? I looked on the app for my November cruise and all all all slots for the entire cruise are already booked. Is that just for people who want a guaranteed time? Or are we out of luck or do we just show up?

Any thoughts on the safety of taking the Martha Brae River raft tour booked directly Celebrity Cruise line? I know the US State department has travel advisories for Jamaica.
