  1. Overall, I do not consider Princess to be a "late night" type of cruise line. The ships become pretty much a ghost town after 1 will many bars closing well before that.

I have never stayed in the casino past 2 as they shut that down too.

If the dance club is rowdy I hear it will stay open but I think it depends on the passenges and the DJ. Although I rarely go to the club. :)

Overall, I don't think that Princess passengers are late night folks. We run out of bars to go to quite early for it being a vacation.

Now every ship and every voyage is different. But I have never seen it go into the wee hours of the night myself.

  2. We had R734 which is right above and it was unusable any time the ship was moving due to the soot and fumes. Everyone was outside talking about it one day at sail away. We went out but as soon as the ship was under full power again we all went inside.

I shouted down to a person on Baja as theirs was half covered/half open and they had the same problem. We had that cabin for the Regal sailing next year and quickly moved to the side of the ship. And with the small balconies almost everywhere, there were very few cabin choices for us.

  3. hi sox fan ,it wont be hard spotting me! I streaked my top hair blond with buzzed sides but I think you will be hard to spot how many different groups of men will there be having drinks in a bar lol p.s. you wear a speedo at the pool maybe that's how I will spot you

We will be easy to spot too! We will be the ones wearing World Series Champions shirts and World Series Champions hats and World Series Champions sweatshirts and... :)

Seriously though, we WILL be wearing Sox t-shirts on embarkation and will be sitting around the pool watching the NFL. We will try and swing by crooners at 6. Will usually be in Wheelhouse around 7ish. Although one of our good friends is a bartender on the ship so we will need to find out where he is working and hang out with him.

I will send an e-mail to the one listed so we can stay in touch.

  4. I sail in 2 weeks and have an aft cabin on Rivera deck. It's completely uncovered. I'll report back.

It's a shame if this problem is that severe. These aft cabins are the only ones on the entire ship that I am willing to take on the Royal. I am a huge balcony user and could never be happy with those tiny ones on the sides!! Might be my only time on the Royal (or Regal).

  5. We are also huge balcony users. Even just coming back to the cabin and checking the outside for a bit.

I will never be booking a Royal or Regal cruise unless I get an aft balcony. Once those are sold, the ship will be sold out for me. Lots of other great ships in the fleet with which to sail.

  6. We were also affected by the cabin change but that's what we get for booking on a ship that isn't completed yet. We booked knowing that the ship wasn't built yet. They might make changes to it.

We book knowing that we are going to be one the first people on a brand new ship and we did it over a year in advance.

Sing it with me: "you take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have..."

  7. Where did I say that I needed to walk by the rail???

I said the deck was blocked completley for people to walk by.

Then I agree with you. I make sure that if I pull the chairs (not the loungers) up to the railing, that it's in a place where people have plenty of room to walk around.:)

  8. Whats also rude is placing the chairs at the railing and blocking the deck completley for anyone to walk by.

Why? There is still plenty of room to walk by. Are you saying you have to walk at the railing the entire time? With the loungers gone it's the only place to rest our feet.

  9. It's much different than on the grand class ships. It's at the back of the boat and it truly is your own area. You have your own pool that you don't have to share with anyone outside the sanctuary. There is less shade but you can find enough. They have two cabanas that fit two people and are very nice so get there early.

I really liked the sanctuary on the coral. Much smaller but you are looking aft which is my favorite view.

  10. "In the old days" it was always impossible to get into the specialty restaurants without signing up on the first day. That has changed! I think it must be the economy because now, the restuarants are very quiet most nights. Especially on the super grand class ships where Sabitinis is not on the "main drag" (deck 7). It's hidden along with Adagio's up on deck 16.

  11. ?.. I do find most people who live "alternative lifestyles" amusing...

I don't consider my lifestyle anything other than how I live my life. It's not alternative to me.

I also don't find the LGBT meetings the place for my straight friends to come along. Some folks use these meetings as a place to connect with gay people as they don't have the opportunity elsewhere. If you meet some people you want to hang with then introduce them to the rest of your group someplace else.

Now with that said, the original poster would be welcome as that's a different circumstance.

  12. The drift snorkel that we did (through) princess was the BEST excursion I have ever done. The snorkeling was amazing. But be warned, when they say it is for advanced snorkelers, they mean. You don't have to be a pro but you it should definitely not be your first time.

It is the exact same snorkel as Bruno's but we got to go through twice. The advantage is that you get over any fear you have the first time (yes, the coral is VERY close to you) and the second time you can relax and follow the trial and see lots more fish.

And the folks on Bruno's were out all day. It was way too long of an excursion for me.

Oh and I don't mean to scare people away from Bruno's if you're a beginner as there are other places to snorkel where he stops that are calm. You don't have to go down the drift snorkel part.

But again, I can not stress enough that this was the best excursion that I have ever done.
