  1. It's good that you checked directly, however as a resident here, I would not risk bringing any product in to Dubai containing codeine, with or without a doctors letter. Unfortunately here, the left hand doesn't always know what the right hand has said, and rules are frequently applied inconsistently. It all depends on who is on duty on the day!

We have actually just booked a cruise from Dubai and the cruise line has issued specific advice in the pre-cruise pack not to bring codeine or related products in to the country.

  2. Not sure what you mean by "sideways." I've found two orientations for inside rooms on QE.

Here's a Standard Inside - it appears that the bed is parallel with the hallway:

Here's a QV Deluxe Inside with the bed running the other way - I'd assume QE would also have this layout in some rooms.

Thank you, it's the top one with the door in the middle, rather than the end of the cabin, perfect!

  3. Has anyone stayed in one of the inside cabins that runs sideways to the hallway? I have only ever stayed in cabins that are positioned front to back and not sideways. Trying to figure out the layout and have not found any information at all, so any pictures description would be great, thanks

  4. There can be difficulties with medications in to Dubai. You must check that any medication brought in does NOT contain codeine. It is a cocaine derivative and most definitely not allowed. For other medications,, if they are prescription, bring a copy of the prescription with you.

  5. I have visited Khasab and we arranged our own Dhow tour. It is possible to walk from the ship to the Dhow office and they will take you to the Dhow. The problem is getting back after the trip!! We were lucky and another family with a car gave us a lift back to the ship, but there are no taxis at the point where the Dhow cruise starts and ends. It is however a wonderful little cruise. You are almost guaranteed to see dolphins and it is very scenic. You also get a chance to do a bit of snorkelling at Telegraph Island which is fun.
