As of today's sailing, Princess has reversed their policy of treating all OBC the same. This has been the case for the last year. Now, when you board, OBC from certain sources will have a "NR" next to the OBC on your folio, meaning it's non-refundable.
My final folio from this morning from the Royal shows my FCC OBC, "loyalty" OBC and shareholder OBC marked as NR. So they are non-refundable from now on.
Spend all of it, much safer for you.

September 2015...plans for a Med cruise...actually have never ocean cruised before. Have heard tons of praise for Celebrity and steering towards it but relatives and their friends are suggesting the Nieuw as they had just finished a cruise with them and were impressed. HAL has Barcelona to Venice(Monte CArlo, St. Tropez, Livorno, Rome, Naples, Corfu, Kotor, Durbrovnic, Venice...
We are all in the 55-65 range. Cruising experience for me would be Uniworld 3x...I know it is not the same. So your expertise on....the quality of these ports for a first time cruise, the quality of the Nieuw....And then we decide if we go on our own or perhaps it would be fun to go with a large group to socialize from time to time.
Either one would be just fine.

This is my first cruise, going on a Transatlantic with RCI. I am uncertain whether I should reserve evening dining. I recently had weight loss surgery and at most would eat an appetizer. I am travelling solo. I would like the opportunity to meet other cruisers but would fill up on the app and after that maybe a bite or two. The dining would be mainly a social interaction for me. What do you recommend? I assume they seat me with a larger group?
Any dinning would be just fine.

There is an 11-11-14 San Juan zipline excursion offered on HAL Westerdam (11-8-14). Thier website says we dock at Noon. However I want to make reservations and book it outside the cruise. When I called, the zipline company representative says the afternoon excursion leaves at 1pm.
How reliable are dock times? If the cruise line is offering it, is it really do-able?
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
Franky
Book it.

Is it better to prepay these when booking our cruise, or to wait and pay them on the ship? Also if we prepay, who dont we have to tip, and who do we have to tip.
Thanks!
You might want to pay at the end of a cruise.

Do we need to bring change for the self-service laundry or is this a place we also just use our cruise card?
I would bring change.

I'm considering booking a B2B cruise on Oceania in South American in 2015. I've read that booking B2B cruises were often greatly discounted. The cruise company I contacted pretty much offered the standard rate + prepaid gratuities and approx $100/day OBC. I was actually quite surprised as I have booked several cruises through this cruise company before. We were considering the Oceania Suite.
Am I totally out of touch expecting a much better base rated on B2B cruises???
Any advice on getting better rates without going down a cabin category?
Each booking will very.

Coming from a backpacking background, I'm a pretty light packer. When I go on a normal 7 day trip, I usually don't carry anything more than a small backpack.
Since I'll be packing a bit more for a cruise than I normally do (and probably bringing home a lot more), I was wondering the following: would it be easier logistically on a cruise ship to store a large backpack or a small rolling suitcase?
I would be packing grocery type bag inside of it to carry in port.
Would it even make a difference to the experience? I'm just having a tough time deciding having never cruised before.
I have done a roll on, before and had enough room to bring a nice out fit for Formal night.

Carnival or Princess, you might think about.:)

This is the first ever cruise that my husband and I have been on. Any handy ideas or tips.:o
Welcome to CC.
You don't need to pack as much as you might think you have to pack.

Hi
This is our first Celebrity cruise. I am just wondering about evening wear in the main restaurant on formal nights and non-formal nights. Should I take the type of long, strappy gown that I have taken on Cunard for formal nights and cocktail type short dresses for non-formal nights? Help please. My husband will be taking his dinner suit and smart shirts and trousers, with or without a tie. Should he take a jacket as well?
Thanks
Sandie
Just look sharp.
dress codes range from those where dressing for dinner means putting on a clean T-shirt to those where any male passenger not in a tuxedo might as well be wearing nothing at all.

There are too many to mention.

We have chosen to do Anytime Dining for the first time on our forthcoming cruise. With Traditional Dining, if you do not finish off your bottle of wine at dinner, your waiter will retrieve it and it will be ready and waiting for you the following evening. How does it work with Anytime Dining, I assume its just a short delay whilst it is retrieved from storage. Any experience of this from fellow CC members would be most welcome. Thanks.
This will be the same as before, they will bring it to your table.

I work for a major Wall Street firm located near the Port in San Diego. Snapped a couple of pics of the Crown Princess yesterday, while it was visiting San Diego.
Great pictures, I also seen the ship going over the bridge.

Hi everyone
This is my first post. I am new to cruising and have booked our first cruise for July next year from Venice. Can you buy drinks when you are a shore and take them onboard?
