We did this from Montego Bay which is fairly close to Falmouth. Our cost was $75pp. Our son is 11 and went with us. Lunch, transportation and entry fees were included. It was an amazing day and worth every penny!!
There were only 4 in our party. We were combined with another family of 4 and a single cruiser for a total of 9. They did say if we wanted a private excursion with just our 4 the price would be $100pp.

We just returned from Jamaica in January. I was worried about the same thing and how far everything seemed to be from Montego Bay.
I would imagine taking a taxi would be rather expensive.
After lots of research I decided to book with Liberty Tours Jamaica. We had a wonderful time and were taken to the Secret Falls which are not full of tourists. It still took us awhile to get there, but they stopped and showed us the place Christopher Columbus landed on the way there and you stop for an A-Mazing lunch on the way back so it doesn't seem so long.
Here is a link to the review I did on it if you are interested. I highly recommend it :)

We have done the chef's table twice. My mom is gluten free and they have always accommodated her. I have also noticed other allergies that they have accommodated. You should be fine. They were very good at contacting her before hand and making sure she had a good experience too!

I would go with the 10:30-11:00 plan. We just cruised out of NOLA for the first time late January. We arrived about that time. It was the most disorganized port we have ever been too (embarkation and debarkation), but we were still on the ship before noon... And the DOD tasted very good!

Hi all,
I just booked on the Carnival Triumph out of Galveston on 4/12/14. We will be stopping in Progreso and Cozumel. We were originally going to do a 7 day on RCL, but due to time constraints decided on this one.
Can anyone tell me about the Triumph or this itinerary? The only information I can find is about the hell on Earth it went through last year. Is there a speciality restaurant? I keep trying to book something online, but keep getting directed back to the FAQ's. :p
TIA!!
Jen
We were on the Triumph in December 2012 (pre/mid trouble) and again in September 2013. I have reviews of both on my blog. (Scroll down to the categories section on the right hand side)
I also have reviews of several things to do in Progreso (we've been there several times)

Which of the excursions did you choose with Liberty?? There seems to be more than one that fits your review.
Thanks for the review!!
I didn't choose just 1 off their website. If you are looking there I think the Irie Blue Hole + Lunch is the closest.
They will plan your day to fit YOU. I emailed them and we chose the itinerary that way.

We have done it twice and would certainly do it again!! Awesome experience!! Awesome food!! It's pricy, but worth it!

Both were our favorites for lunch!! Also... Great view if you can get a table by the back window in the Havana Bar!

Carnival's gluten free bread has come a looonngg way! They are certainly making good improvements. My mom is also gluten free so we deal with this each cruise. In January she ordered the gluten free pizza and didn't really care for it, but the next day they made her a sandwich using the gluten free pizza crust... It was like a flat bread sandwich and she said it was Fantasic!!
Carnival really goes out of their way to take good care of their special needs diet guests!

Here is my review of Jamaica for those of you doing the same itinerary.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I can't wait to try the pineapple chipotle martini in your honor! LOVE the doors, too, how cool are those?! I'm so glad you had a great time and had time to write your review. Great blog! And thank you for all you do for those preemies, our twins were in the nicu (born 33w1d) 18 and 21 days and we so appreciated everyone that cared for them in those "tiny" days.

We will be on the Sunshine Feb 16. your review was what I was looking for to give me of what to expect. Thanks, I think you covered the ship good and not so good. What about the shows ???? Music ????
Thanks again great review
We only went to the Welcome Aboard show, Hasbro Game Show and the Family Friendly Comedy show enjoyed them all!
We were very low key and relaxing on this cruise so we didn't hang out much with the music and shows. Sorry I'm not much help in that department :(

It is extremely peaceful out there! I bring my portable DVD player and actually do my workouts in the mornings there. :)
Usually I am the only person around.

I am shocked by all the bad reviews. We sailed Jan 19th, the week before you. No buckets, No smells.
Everyone in our party loved the Sunshine and I would sail on her again in a heartbeat!

I second the motion that 5-6 years old is probably too young to really enjoy it. My son is 11 (and on the small side). It was a little tough swimming for him. The guides were fantastic and flipped him on their backs and took off. He had a wonderful time! I would not have been comfortable if he were younger.
