  1. We usually fold the tags as directed, then we cover each tag several times with clear packing/masking tape. It really thickens the tags, they readable, and foldable too. Then we staple them to our luggage handles.

    Hope this helps.:):)

    That's a good idea!!

Could we also put a tag on our 20" carry on and the ship could take that so we wouldn't have to carry that around with us on board (we would still have a small backpack or something with personal items in it).

  2. Clicking on eDocs

will take you to "cruise summary"

I just got my email to fill out my eDocs today. I thought this was really early (still have over 50 days to go!!). Was very exciting too :)

Can't see this tag will hold up all the way to Miami if I put it on at home.

Should we just let the baggage person on the ship do it for us?

  4. Personal item. Each airline may have different guidelines. Do check your carriers' policies.

Sent from my phone. Typos are inevitable.

Thanks. We can bring something else as a personal item as long as it's not bigger than the 20" carry on. My problem is my DH is a large man and his clothes alone will take up a lot of space not to mention the shoes, even if it's only one pair each. Then the electronics, toiletries, etc.

I have to work on a technique.

  5. We traveled for 2 months on land in Europe this summer squeezing a 10 day cruise in the middle. We each had a 20 inch carryon and a backpack. No problemo!

When you are flying isn't that considered 2 carry-on's (the 20" bag and the backpack)?

Or is the backpack considered your "personal item" like a purse, tote, etc? As long as its smaller than the carry on.

I would love to be able to do this but I would be worried my backpack would be larger than my carry on LOL

  6. I have ATT and I get the international plan for the month and use the text options in port for emergency contacts. I also give the ship number in case of immediate emergency as I have an ill mom and need to make sure someone can get a hold of me.

When the ship is at sea you make regular calls and then when it's in port you use text and that is fine. Is that why she was telling me I needed two plans, one for the ship and one for while we were on land?

We have parents in their 80's and 2 grown children who will be stopping by our house to take care of our pets. Anything can happen or vice versa to one of us on vacation.

  7. look up on the AT&T website, they do not have a cellular plan for NCL only Royal and another line. Int. plan will give you reduced rates. I was told texting is the same. I always read the website and then call so I am somewhat informed. Turn off data roaming for email or that could lead to a much larger bill.

I noticed that NCL wasn't listed but I told the woman I was speaking with I was on NCL and that is what she told me. I still have over 45 days to travel so I'll call back and get it straight.

I'm just wondering if we need any cell plan at all or just have the family call the ship if there's an emergency. If there is we call home and fly back.

Or maybe just get the ships internet plan and email a few times during the cruise to be sure everything is okay.

I really don't want to use my phone while we are away. I only want it for emergencies.

  8. I bought the int'l data plan for the month - and was able to use it when we were in port, although I was so nervous about going over the amount that I only used 1/2 of the data I had for intn'l

We have ATT-just got off the phone with them. Needed two packages one for the ship and one for land. $30 each/voice only - 50 minutes on the ship and 15 minutes on Land. That was the cheapest they had. She said leave Data Roaming off and to call a day or two before we leave and it will be billed for that months billing cycle. $60.00 for 65 minutes.

If someone from home calls or texts me that is no charge to me or them as it goes on the domestic plan. I can call them back and it would be part of this plan.

Does that sound right to any one that cruised before?

  9. You buy the Freestyle Cruise Reward for $250 and get an immediate shipboard credit of $100 for a net charge of $150. There is NO NEED whatsoever to spend another dime. If you charge nothing else, you will simply owe the $150 at the end of the cruise.

It should really be promoted as a discount ($250 item for $150) but they promote it as $100 OBC so that people will think they have an "extra" $100 to spend.

    Ok, I'm pretty dense sometime....

I understand you'll get $100 OBC but what is the charge that will come off your credit card or on board account, $250.00 correct.

  10. Most airlines will accept bags starting about 4 hours prior to departure. A nice tip to the curb side check-in guys may help you stretch this time limit, or you can pay a fee to store your bags inside of MIA.

If you get off the ship and to MIA little earlier you have time to catch the airport flyer bus ($2.35 each) to South Beach for an early but nice lunch and then head back to the airport; sure sounds better than hanging out at MIA to me.

We are also in the same situation with our flight out at 4:35 (so we need to be there at 2:35).

Where do you have your bags stored at MIA? Where do you get the schedules for the airport flyer?

We were also thinking of just hanging around the airport or letting the cruise line handle the bags and taking a cab from the port to South Beach and back to the airport, but that is a lot of money having them take the bags and we didn't want all the bags checked.

  11. What is wrong with a chain restaurant? Because rents are so high in Bayside, I would imagine all are chain restaurants. Chains provide many jobs and pump money back into our local economy.

Garcias is close by, is on the water, and is seafood and privately owned.

Nothing wrong with chain restaurants, we eat at them all the time. I just don't want to go to a Hard Rock, Chili's or Bubba Gump while I am in Miami. We have done all of them before.

I would rather try something different. If it's a local chain, that would be okay since we have never tried it. I'm sorry if I came across disliking chain restaurants. I didn't mean to sound like that.

    I will check Garcia's out.

    Thank you.

  12. Staying over for one night pre-cruise and looking for some place to have dinner that isn't a chain restaurant. We will be going to the Bayside Marketplace but there is an awful lot of places to choose from.

We basically like everything and would like something with that is indoor/outdoor since we are in Miami on the water.

Any suggestions on which place might be a good choice? Seafood is good, wouldn't mind trying some Cuban food. Not too expensive would be nice too.

  13. Thank you for the wonderful review of the Sky and excellent pictures. It was so enjoyable and refreshing to read such an upbeat review of the Sky. They are few and far between.

We are doing the opposite and trying out the Sky as our first cruise before going on an Alaskan cruise next year to see if we like the whole cruising thing. We spent much of our earlier vacation days in the woods tent camping. We wouldn't have seen 1/2 of the places we have if we didn't do that in the earlier days.

  14. They will allow you in the casino and marina - you won't be able to walk around the property without a pass.

I don't think we would have time to have a pass or go to the aquarium with having another excursion at 12:15pm, but the marina area and casino would be nice (although we probably will be spending enough in the casino on the ship) - I'll have to figure out if we have enough time to get over there and back in time.

    Thanks :)

  15. There is a big chair there that you can take a picture in (if you slip the photographer a $5, he'll snap a pic for you on your camera and them you don't have to spend $15-25 for theirs 😊)

There's also a Nobu restaurant there like the one in Vegas.

Now that is really a nice picture and exactly what I'm talking about-something to show that we've been there!! Thanks for sharing :)

We did that once and it was fun. We enjoy walking around the Marina yacht area and the shops.

How long will it take to get there and back, if we went in the morning? About how long to casually walk around to see the inside, marina, etc.

If the ship says it gets in at 8am what time will be off the ship? Thanks!!

  16. Thanks for the review and pictures. Glad you enjoyed your cruise. We're sailing in November on a 4 night cruise. It will be our first time on the Sky and our first cruise ever.

Did you have any preferences between the two main dining rooms?

Did you use the pool at all? Some videos I have seen it looks so crowded in the pool and around the pool area.

How was the entertainment on board?

Shade on GSC is a big deal for us too. DH can't be in the sun very long. We have one excursion booked for about an hour but other than that he needs to be under a tree or at the pavilion or have the option to go back and forth. We might rent the clam shell, but I also read it's very hot underneath them since no air circulates.

  17. We have a ship excursion scheduled in Nassau at 12:15 which last about 3 hours (we're in port from 8am to 6pm).

I am thinking about a quick trip over to Atlantis since it's our first time in Nassau. Maybe in the morning before the excursion just to walk around. I hate to be there and not go to the hotel. On the other hand we have seen big beautiful hotels before and I don't want to feel rushed that day to see everything either and hanging on the ship in the morning is very appealing too.

Is it worth a trip over or would I just be wasting my time better spent relaxing on the ship until the excursion.

  18. I don't really know if I can drink $65.00 worth of "beverages" a day but I can certainly give it the Old College try! ;)

I was thinking it was going to be $62.10 per person like on all the other cruises. Now its $74.75 per person.

Might have to rethink whether we would spend the $598 or not for 4 days. We do have three stops and an excursion at each for a few hours.

I was all set today to pay for the UBP at $496.80. Dang!!! Now I have to wait and it's a $101.20 more.
