  1. Have stayed at Doubletree 3-4 times and have left our vehicle from 1-2 weeks each time. Never a problem. When I have made reservations through in-house reservations they tell me they have a cruise package but I always tell them I have had complementary parking with each stay and they say fine..just to check in with the concierge to sign up our vehicle info and we have. Never an issue with shuttle rides to and back from port. We love the grounds there.

  2. Anxious to read what details the Captain’s Announcement consist of at 0800.

Those passengers have to be exhausted from worry and all that adrenaline flowing.

The Captain and crew have to be exhausted.

I cannot imagine this being a crew member or passenger’s first cruise.

Hope some are able to get sleep as they feel the rocking improve.

  3. I have always brought on a heating pad even notifying special needs prior to the cruise. The extension cord has been provided by the cruise ship.

On the Serenade last October I got summoned to the naughty room (area) to get my missing luggage and sure enough it was due to my heating pad. The crew member did not want me to bring it on. He called someone who told him to make the decision himself. I pointed out it had an auto shut off and was allowed.

  4. Laura, I think your 15yo grandkid and my 15yo son (from Michigan) hung out together on this cruise.

And I will also chime in agreeing that these were the calmest seas I have ever seen... all those people spent money on the little behind-the-ear patches for nothing! I was a little disappointed, actually, as I really like to be rocked to bed at night, and there was rarely any discernible motion.

My 15 y/o grandson was Kyle..into soccer. He so enjoyed friends he met.

  5. We were on this cruise. It was perfect for my DD her DH and 4 grandkids first cruise. I believe there were 1400 or so kids on the cruise.

The grandkids were ages 8-15 and loved the Freedom. The seas were calm with nice breezes and temps to enjoy the balconies in the evenings.

We did a private tour with Bernard’s Tours.

Thanks for your review. I was looking for family in your pics but no luck.

  6. We were not allowed to check 24 case of bottled water onboard the Freedom June 14th even with luggage tag secured. My DH carried it on but never again. Just too hard to walk around the ship with before 1pm.

They did open the wrapper and check some of the bottles of water going through security to make sure not confiscating booze on the ship.

We were told some people do get their bottled water checked in depending on the porters.

I brought 4 20 oz bottles of Pepsi on in a carry bag.

  7. Are these ports pretty safe?

What did you do in these ports?

Puerto Vallarto is one of the ports but I know our friends were advised to stay in a restricted area in PV by Carnival recently. If we stop there may stay on ship since we have been there two times already. It is a shame.

    Thanks

  8. I have had to use travel insurance several times to cancel cruises. One was several days before. Both times RCL sent me several hundred dollars back and the rest came from their Cruise Care-wsa with Berkely. I got the paper work..dr filled out his one sheet..I filled my portion out. I mailed these in and within several weeks had the remainder cost minus travel insurance cost. There were no flights involved.

  9. Wonderful family pics.

We have been on the Jewel and Radiance ships and this fall will be on the Serenade.

Following the Live Quantum review have to saying it is such a nice ship.

I find the best in all ships for I love cruising so much. The Radiance class ships are beautiful with all the glass. Having been on the Allure have to say sometimes going smaller is nice too.

We are taking DD her DH and four grandkids on the Freedom in June. This will be the first cruise with kids. Of course their parents will be there but I have a feeling they will be so busy being 9-15 yrs old.

    Thanks for the review.

  10. Thanks so much for the feedback/info.

Unfortunately for this reason my DD has 4 children so they need a van/SUV to fit 6 people and luggage.

They are flying into Fort Lauderdale..driving to Miami and then to hotel in Cocoa Beach..then dropping off vehicle Sunday morning prior to cruise.

We have eaten at Fishlips before..had a good meal.

I went back and forth about staying at Hampton Inn. They say it is an oceanview room with balcony so I chose that hotel.

  11. We are staying at Hampton Inn for our June cruise. Can I ask what rental car company you are using? I would assume the car could be returned in Port Canaveral and get a shuttle from them to cruise terminal.

    Thanks so much.
