1. ....however, they'll be one week apart and on two different ships! :D:D I'm going on a Celebrity launch cruise and then a RCCL launch cruise in November, one week apart from one another. I'll be home for 4 days between cruises to get clothes cleaned, and repacked. I'll take my Mom on Celebrity, and MrJane110 on RCCL. I'm so excited!
2. Anyone have a coupon code for Lori's Shoes? I found a cute pair of boots for fall and if I could get them for less, why not? :) I see they have a free shipping policy. Does anyone know if that included free returns? I always have to try two sizes to see which ones fit right. Thanks all!

England in April

I'm headed to England and a mini-cruise in about 10 days and I'm totally confused about what to pack for daytime. I'll have about 4 days in London, and then 3 days on Celebrity's new Eclipse. It's a cruise to "no where" so I need clothes for onboard. I'm all set for evenings, (gown one night, dressy cocktail dress another night) it's daytime I'm confused about. Normally for daytime on a cruiseship, I'd be in linen pants and sandals - but then, all my cruises have been in summer and/or warm climates. Right now in NY, I wore sandals for the first time today. But the UK is a lot chillier and gray-er. Linen and sandals would look stupid. I'm not the "Chino" and topsiders type - too preppy for me. My typical NYC lightweight wool gabardine or microfiber pants seem kind of "business-y". I've never brought jeans on a cruise ship, but I'll be wearing them on the plane and around London, but didn't want to wear them onboard. But I'm going nuts trying to figure out what kind of pants to wear during the day that don't look too summery or too business-y. Once I figure out the bottoms, I've got plenty of tops to wear. Also, For our 4 days in London - what kind of outerwear? Is it still cold there, or will a lightweight jacket be enough? Is it sandal weather yet, or should I wear boots?
4. Those of you who don't buy illegal counterfeit goods, ignore this post. Those of you who buy illegal goods, which support terrorism, child labor and drug cartels, read on. Here's what's in the perfumes..... Perfumes bought in non-traditional venues - mall kiosks, non-legit websites, or out of the trunk of a car are fakes. Want to know what's in them? First of all, they don't smell like real deal, and the chemicals used are of cheap quality, may not have had the propler handling, are filled with bacteria and guess what one of the ingredients is? URINE! It's used to balance the PH factor as well as for color! One NY dermatologist I know treats people who come in with disgusting rashes they got from putting these bacteria filled liquids on themselves. eeooww! I'm not legally allowed to repost the news video - and I'm no trademark violator! But if you go to ABC news, read this month's Harpers Bazaar, or do an internet search, you'll find it. They will also tell you how to spot a fake. It's in the packaging. However, if you stick to legitmate stores, you don't have to worry in the first place! :)

6. Hi Curt and other fashionista's with excellent taste, I'm going to a chi-chi anniversary party on Thursday night and am choosing between two evening jackets which I'll wear over either a black dress or a pair of high, high, high waisted black pants (they come up to right below the bustline and they're skin tight through the torso). Once I decide on the jkt, then I'll choose betw. dress or pants. To help set the tone: The party will be in a swanky loft, and the people there will be a collection of movers and shakers from around the world, straight and gay. The invitation says the dress code is "Glamorous. Look like you just walked off the cover of Vanity Fair". These aren't great photo's, but they're couture pieces and all handmade. The top one is a bolero and the multi colors are actually hundreds of hand cut leaves in shades of bronze, teal and purple held onto the base fabric with metalic gold stitching all over. The second one is definitely more "fun", and is more black with some iridescent in it. As you can see the fabric is manipulated to "scrunch" all over the bottom. This one is more dramatic and creates a broader shoulder line and makes me look larger on top. Any opinions on which jacket you prefer? The fabric is very thin on both, and each jacket weighs less than an ounce. (well the second one weighs about 3 ounces)
7. Hi Lois, I've been invited to go on the pre-inaugural launch cruise of the new Celebrity Equinox ship, and I know that this is modeled in a similar fashion to the Solstice. My question concerns amenities. Is there a good hair dryer in the room, or is it one of the useless ones that's atached to the bathroom wall? What kind of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion are supplied? Are they decent, or do I need to bring my own? Any tips you might have are most appreciated!
8. Hi all, I just read in WWD that Proctor & Gamble is going to phase out selling Max Factor cosmetics in the US and will put their emphasis on Cover Girl which is more profitable for them. This will happen in in early 2010, so you have time to stock up on your favorite products. It will still be sold globally, however. Just thought you'd like to know....
9. Hi All, I looking for storage bags for my winter sweaters and I'm looking for the ones that compress and take up only a little space. The Space bags look great, however, they require the use of a vacuum with a hose, and I have an upright, so I can't use them. Can anyone recommend a bag that compresses sweaters flat but doesn't require the use of a vacuum cleaner with a hose? Thanks! Jane
10. Hi all, I came up on this and thought I'd share..... There's a giveaway of some great Clarins self tanning products. Three people will win. All you have to do is enter your name - no ridiculous essays to write, etc. Just send in your name and maybe you'll win! :) Good luck! 11. Hi all, Like many of you, I'm a fan of Zappos. Their customer service and free shipping can't be beat. Because of that, I'm not opposed to paying a little more for something, and I'm not one to always look for rock bottom price. However, I found something a little surprising in their pricing.... Last week I bought a pair of Delman black patent leather sandals from Bloomingdales. They were $200.00. However, since I already have 2 pairs of black patent sandals, I decided to search on Zappos to see if I could buy them in plain black leather, because Bloomies didn't carry them. If they were available, I would return the patent leather ones to Bloomies. Zappos has them. The price is $325.00. They weren't on sale in Bloomingdales. They're this year's model and $200.00 is the full retail price. I would have been willing to pay up to $20.00 more to get then in regular leather, but $125.00 price difference? Wow! No thanks, I'll keep the patent leather. Here they are: http://www.zappos.com/product/7529134/color/183092 I'm going to write to Zappos and ask them if there's a mistake. So, if you're shopping on Zappos first, have a look around at other sites and make sure you're not paying over $100.00 more on one pair of shoes! Happy shopping all!

Shoe News

Just read in the trades that the denim line, Seven for all Mankind is debuting a line of shoes this spring. Their feeling is that for a great jean look, the right shoe is very important and there aren't enough of the right style around to complement the high end denim looks. The shoe license was given to Schwartz and Benjamin - one of my personal favorite shoe companies. The also hold the license and make shoes for Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, DVF and Michael Kors. The Seven shoes will run between $150 - $350 retail and will debut this spring exclusively at company stores with only 5 styles. In the fall, they'll roll out to department stores and specialty stores. Styles planned are classic ballet flats, gladiator sandals, wooden wedges and stacked platforms. Blue Herons, I thoought of you when I read about this. :)
13. Hi all, Thought I'd give you a head's up.... I just read in an industry journal, that the hair care brand Salon Selectives has stopped producing product as of yesterday. For those of you who love this brand, get to your nearest drugstore and stock up!
14. Hi all, La Furla, a maker of terrific handbags (and some shoes and leather accessories) is having a good sale. Here's the website. Roll your mouse over "shopping" and then click on "sale" at the bottom of the menu to see the offerings. 15. For those of you who like to be in the loop of fashion industry news....... Just read today in WWD that Ebay was fined 63.2 million dollars for allowing the sale of phony designer goods on their site. Louis Vuitton received most of the money with 30 million dollars awarded. Christian Dior received 27 million. Other distrubutions went to Parfums C. Dior, Parfums Kenzo, Parfums Givenchy and Parfums Guerlain. Ebay will no longer be allowed to sell fragrances or cosmetics from these companies - even legitimate merchandise. My opinion: So, it's too bad for the legitimate sellers, but a wonderful victory for the design houses. People have been complaining to years to Ebay about illegal merchandise being sold and Ebay taking no responsibility to police themselves. But it's always a couple of rotten apples that spoil it for the rest. (btw, the story didn't mention the sales of legit accessory's from these companies, so I gather that people will still be able to sell legitimate handbags/fashion items on the site. But that's my guess only)
