  1. I know I have asked this before but I want to get a personal opinion from someone who lives in or near Richmond. We are staying at the Sheraton Hotel and were wondering if there is a good family restaurant for Cantonese or Mandarin? The hotel is near Minoru Rd. and Westminster Hwy. The restaurant doesn't have to be fancy. Thanks.

  2. Okay, I was gonna try to blame this one on my wife but I'll own up to it..:o

I'm addicted to Coffee Crisps. There, I said it.

Is there anywhere close to Canada Place, or between the Westin Bayshore and Coast restaurant on Alberni St. that I can buy them by the box?

We're eating dinner at the Coast restaurant and will be walking back to the Westin so if there is anyplace not too far out of the way I'll be very happy.. :D

There is a Costco at 605 Expo Blvd Near the stadium. Not as close as you would want but there is a Skytrain station right near by.

  3. Even with the great prices of cruising, it is still a luxury for us so we try to save by taking an inside room unless an outside one is not too more expensive. I do look outside my porthole/window occasionally, but not enough to justify the extra cost.

The specialty dining rooms are nice, we have used them twice, but usually prefer the variety that's offered in the MDR.

Our first 2 cruises we booked ship's excursions, the next few we would book off the ship and lately we have been renting a car and going off on our own.

Because we save on the room and onboard expenses we are now cruising more and more often than we used to.. that is, less costs, more cruising!.

  4. people are raving about the escargots. I know that it is not served every night. Some lines allow you to order something like that even if it is not on the menu. Do you think I will be able to ask in advance (obviously not for the first night) if I can have escargots served to me every night?

Well, you're in luck, the city of Richmond hired a full-time food blogger, and I'm sure there's a few hundred ideas on their blog

Thanks for the reference. It had some good ideas. I was hoping for some suggestions from some people who live nearby. The blog mostly suggests the fancy type of places, but I love the smaller places that use plastic tablecloths! ;)
