I wouldn't bother printing anything more than the first page of your E ticket that shows your booking ref and date etc , never needed or been asked for it in 80+ cruises , once went with nothing more than a booking ref no ,no flight tickets, no nothing , simply gave the ref no at the airport check in.

OK thank you, have all your cruises been with Marella? we have done 30+ but mostly with Celebrity, this is our 1st with Marella as it is the only ship doing Canary Islands in the winter

On a site the shows cruise deck plans they indicate that 9384 has a deck that is 30% larger than surrounding cabins.   They have some pictures but they are per-Revolution.    The yellow star on 9307 says that all aft cabins can be affected by soot depending on wind direction.

Thank you, I think it might be worth a bit of soot to have those wonderful wake views. Which site has the pictures?

Luggage valet is offered. As far as extended stay is concerned I know it’s not allowed in US ports (unless there was a recent change) as this is not allowed by CBP. I wish they offered it as we’d definitely take advantage.

Loving your review, BTW Extend your stay is available in the US now, my brother took advantage of it on The edge at the end of November in Miami

  4. Does anyone have any photos of C1 cabins at the aft of deck 9 please? I have been reading all the comments on the brilliant S Class spreadsheet and there seem to be differing opinions on which of those aft cabins have slightly larger balconies, in particular 9378 9382 9384. Would really appreciate any help in making a choice. Many thanks.

    Hello everyone.

We are great fans of both Marella/Tui, and. Celebrity.

I'd suggest each company has a different feel when enjoying a holiday with them.

In our experience, Celebrity is classier. The offering is generally of a higher standard, the food is better, the  standard AI drinks list more comprehensive and we would rate the ships a higher star rating.

Having said that, I can't say we enjoy our cruising with Celebrity any more than we do with TUI.  Celebrity seem to pitch their cruises to an international clientele. TUI, almost exclusively to Brits... That seems to result in a different

feel of the holiday. TUI feels, to us, to be more homely/ friendly.  Celebrity feels, to us, classier, but perhaps more elitist/upmarket.  I'm not saying either is preferable, they are just different,....I'd compare TUI to a comfortable old pair of shoes, you enjoy wearing,.....Celebrity are your fancy best shoes reserved for a dinner party at your bosses house.  Both have their place in your wardrobe, you wouldn't wish to part with either pair.

If it helps, we usually choose a deluxe balcony with TUI and and 2A balcony with Celebrity. I mention this as I'd expect the choice of accommodations would influence an experience with either company.

    Happy cruising.

Thank you, that's really helpful. We are going with an open mind and really looking forward to it.

  6. We are about to take our 1st cruise on Explorer, we have done many cruises on Celebrity which we love including the Galaxy many years ago before it became Explorer. We are in 9212 has anyone experienced any noise issues in this cabin, also, what comparisons with Celebrity will we notice, good and bad? Many thanks.

Might also consider a tour with airport drop off. I've done this when I had time and non refundable OBC to spend. For me the best tour was in Buenos Aires with Lunch at a ranch.

We did consider this but nothing quite fit the timings, also we have a free private taxi to the airport so didnt want to pay for an excursion.

I'm sure you know that the ship does not dock in Rome, it docks in Civitavecchia, which is about 50 miles away. We did this once and it took about 1 1/2 hours, ship to airport. This was in the morning and traffic wasn't too bad. I would guess that the traffic would be much worse latter in the afternoon. The airport is huge and busy.

Keep this in mind when allowing time to safely make your flight.

Yes that's a good point, been there a few times now. We have arranged for our taxi to pick us up at 3.30 and our flight is at 8pm so should be ok

    Hello:

We did this when we arrived in Venice.  We were not pressed for time, as we were staying for a couple of nights before flying back to the US.  The "Stay Awhile" option was just starting and there was some snafus in terms of paying for drinks onboard... we had been told we would need to start paying for things (in other words, not with our seapass) starting at 10am, but none of the bars that were open (by the pool, by the Oceanview Cafe), were set up to do any other type of transaction, so they wound up just giving us our drinks for free.  I'm sure they have since sorted that out.

We could elect to stay for 2 or 4 hours.  We did the 4 hours.  We enjoyed the pool, we took another shower in the spa area, had some lunch, enjoyed drinks... it was great.  The best part - we absolutely missed the madness that was disembarkation in a crowded European city.  We left the ship calmly, picked up our luggage very easily, and met our driver to the boat that ultimately took us to the hotel.  It was a wonderfully sane way to end the cruise and we would not hesitate to do it again.

The down part: you are on board while excited new passengers arrive ready to start their sailing.  There was something a bit tough to know that part of our vacation was done while theirs was just starting... but going to a fantastic hotel in Venice made it much easier!  Lol!

The free drinks were a bonus, but as you say, probably sorted out by now. Nice to relax in comfort and enjoy one last lunch onboard rather than being crowded out at the airport.

  10. I'm presuming you're referring to our Reflection cruise? If so, and you haven't been previously, try the LCG (Lawn Club Grill); it's great for a group gathering of all different ages - Qsine too . Enjoy your cruise :).

Thank you so much, managed to link all the group and book dining for each night!

We have cruised many times on S class, must admit I shall miss the Hot Glass Show on Reflection but Lawn Club Grill is great. Would never normally choose school holidays but had to fit in with the rest of our group for a family reunion.

    Have a great cruise
