  1. There are some really fun things to do in Ensenada: explore downtown, see the beautiful Cultural Center, even go zip-lining on a great course outside town. You seem to have missed out on all of them.

We will be on the Carnival ship and they are not offering ziplining. what is the 411 on that? Thanks

Have you seen the zipline course? Did it have 2 lines above your head for safety? How did you get there, and the cost please. Thanks.

  3. We went to Marriott Frenchman's Reef in St. Thomas. It was very nice but I will tell you that we did not go to the beach there. It is down some stairs or an elevator or something and we didn't make it down there because we had too much fun in the infinity pools and at the swim up bar.

Thank you! Do you remember the cost of using the resort for the day?

  4. The next morning we woke up in grand cayman. I had not previously been here either but my research indicated we needed to go to 7 mile beach. This can be done a number of ways, but my preferred way to go to a beach in a port is to go to a place with bathrooms, restaurant, and pool. If you have never used Resort for a Day you should consider checking it out. We used resort for a day in St Thomas in August and it was wonderful. In grand cayman this is available at the Westin. We checked it out on trip advisor and the pictures and reviews are great. We booked online and printed out our ticket to take it with. Resort for a day at this location includes a hotel room so you can shower, sleep, watch tv, or whatever else you could use the room for. The location is beautiful and they have everything you could need.

Here is where we sat for most of the day:

The weather was wonderful and so was the service. There was a beach server who brought us drinks and menus. We ended up eating lunch at the poolside restaurant but the menu was very similar. The food was very good. We had an amazing time.

Which resort did you go to in St. Thomas? We are going there in a few weeks and I love doing the resort days. Thanks.

  5. I have led many group cruises. It is a lot of work. Practically a full time job.

My first tip is to ask for suggestions on the activities the group would like to do, then choose the most popular ones. Be sure there is someone else in charge of that event or excursion for the "day Of" you know, a to coordinate things.

My second tip is to enlist the help of a travel agent, or cruise line employee. Someone to take care of all the bookings, payments etc. If you are wanting to talk about your group here on CC, you will need to use Cru Con and book it as a cruise critic group cruise. I suggest you do not do this. Keep it off CC. If it's on CC, everyone must be invited to join you and with a work group that wouldn't work.

My 3rd tip is to organize a meet n greet on the first day so everyone in your group can be given their itinerary for the week, meet everyone involved in the group etc. It is always fun to have door prizes at things like this.

My 4th tip is to not overbook the group with activities. Remember, the cruise director will have spent tons of time planning lots of things people will want to do, so don't over do it.

It's always fun to have a group t-shirt for everyone to wear.

Don't forget to relax and have fun too!!

  6. Janet, I see we are neighbors almost. Any chance we can make a connection? I might have an option you could consider...

HI. I tried to email you but I guess I do not know what the address really is because it wouldn't deliver:confused:. Mine is sammons 554 at the Y service. Maybe you could get one to me?? I would love to hear your idea.

    :)

  7. I learned something this week. I learned that some pharmacies rent equipment too. I found that the one in my dinky little town rents POC and only charges 100 bucks a week and that includes 3 batteries. Yes, It is the one that weighs about 20 lbs and needs to be drug around instead of carried around but that is a lot better than 450 bucks! So if you need to rent one, try your local pharmacy and give it a shot.

  8. The company who supplies oxygen to me at home no longer offers travel concentrators so I have to rent one. The least expensive company so far is going to charge me 450 bucks for 10 days. This really sucks because until Dec, I didn't even need oxygen! I got a Pulmonary Embolism and now I need oxygen. The cost of this POC is going to take the place of some nice excursions.:(

And now, after reading the posts here, I am questioning if I should add an oxygen tank in case of power failure.

  9. Use this phone number. It tells them that they have been given a rejection number. 602-230-4210.

It starts out something like "this is not the person you are calling, this is the rejection hotline" It goes on and on about how you didn't really want them to have your number.:D:D:D

  10. I'm not complaining since I got more days than I had calculated. But, the people who took the 3 night cruises really made out like bandits! One of the rumors was that they would keep their level achieved under the old system, but, they would have way less days than that level calls for making them earn a lot more to get to the next level. I think that that would have been fairer.

PS - I wonder why they did not just use the history that we all have and calculate the "real" days?????

All in all, this will be better going forward but I won't live long enough to get to Pinnacle!

I completely agree with the 3 day cruises. Their 3 day cruise earned them the same points as our 11 night cruise. THATS screwed!

  11. What is Quest?

Let me try to explain it. And remember, I have only played it on RCCL, so it could be different on Carnival.

First the audience comes in and sit down where ever they want. The host divides the room into sections. Each section is a team. Each team has 2 people to be the captians or runners. One guy and one girl. Each team also has a number card that the runners hold.

The host will ask for certain things. Someone on your team comes up with that item and it is quickly and I do mean quickly, given to the runner of your team. They run the item to the host and shows it to him/her, along with the teams number. The number gets read off outloud to someone writing them down. It's important to be the first and faster to get your number read, so the host is bombarded with all the numbers at once!

The game continues until the last items are called. Usually the game ends up with a guy being dressed like a girl parading around for all to see.

Things that might get asked for varies greatly, but false teeth, the biggest bra in the room, a thong, etc. might be some of them. Experienced players will bring bags of loot that could get asked for.

From what I read, it sounds like carnival plays it in already formed teams. But I could be wrong.

  12. I was reading a couple threads here tonight and both of them mentioned the Quest game on Carnival. When did that start:confused:? Is it on all the ships?? And is it like on RCCL where it is like a scavenger hunt from things the teams have brought with them? One member runs the item down to the host and proves they have that item?

I hope so, cuz it is a blast!
