Darth...I noticed from your sig you are sailing on Indy. We are sailing the next two weeks after you get off. Have a great cruise and hopefully she will sail on time next week. I watched on the web cam tonight and she was delayed 2 hours.

  2. Wolf, my prayers are with you. Bobbie's dad died Sunday morning, so finally an end to all that was a total burden on many for the past 3 years.

He is in a better place, now we just have to hope that her Mom can find some sort of life, so she doesn't follow him.

Tough times for our family right now. We have 41 days to get it under control, before we leave on the Vision.

    Rick

PS Glad to see that Per is back!;)

Rick, I am so sorry to hear that Bobbie's Dad passed away on Sunday. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.

  3. We have really enjoyed having Rahul as the concierge. We are on Legend in December next year and hope he will be on board then. Good luck Rahul in your new assignment!

Scotty, we are sailing December 12 on the 11 night Southern Caribbean. He said he thinks he will be on vacation then. Hopefully, he will be on but if he gets a chance to be with him family for Christmas, I rather him do that. :) When are you sailing?

  4. I got an email from Rahul earlier telling me who his replacement is.....

When I was on last month,we also had the overflow......we went there......preferred it over the nearly empty concierge lounge..

Kathy...Rahul deserves this move to Legend. He works so hard and is really good at what he does. He told us that he is joining the ship in January, as they are doing the dry dock. We probably will not get to see Rahul though when we sail the Legend. We/he thinks he will be on vacation then. :(

We sailed Sept 2, Sept 9th and October 7th. What dates did you sail? The Concierge Lounge was empty. We stayed in the Diamond Lounge.

  5. I met Marcelo last month and he is a super nice guy.We still keep in touch..Unfortunately,he will not be taking over Rahul's place.......someone else will(see below)

As of late Saturday, no decision had been made. This disappoints me because the job he did in the lounge and does at the pursers desk is fantastic. No matter where he goes, he does a good job.

The crowd those two weeks was so large in the lounge, they had to open Pharoahs Lounge the first night and the rest of the week, he handled two lounges. (Diamond Lounge and Cardroom) He managed those two lounges, called everyone by name and got his work done during the day so he could concentrate on his guests at night.

Thanks Kathy for telling me and I will contact him!

  6. His name is Marcelo Mello..:)

Yes it is and he would grin if he knew I spelled his name wrong. People call him Marcelous, so guess that is why I did it. :D He did a fantastic job in the lounge those two weeks and fingers are crossed he gets the job. If everyone put on their survey forms how they expressed themselves those two weeks, we got a winner. Other people are also being considered but you know who I want.

Do you know Marcelo? By the way, Willy is suppose to be staying.

  7. We sailed Freedom of the Seas last week and Rahul is back in the Diamond Lounge. When we sailed on Sept 2 and Sept 9th, he was the Suite Concierge and Marcelous was taking his place in the Diamond Lounge.

We booked the Legend of the Seas for December, 2013 while onboard and that afternnoon we mentioned to Rahul our plans. He said after his vacation, he would be leaving the Freedom and in January he would be joining Legend. He will be the Concierge taking care of Suites and Diamond Plus.

Rahul's replacement in the Diamond Lounge has not been decided but when I find out, I will let you know.

  8. Well, I have read all 65 pages of All things LOS, and I have not seen this question asked. I would like to know if there is a magnifying mirror in the cabin bathrooms? We will be in cabin 6583, a Promenade inside. We had one of these mirrors last year on the Carnival Splendor. It was wonderful, for us "50 somethings" that have trouble seeing!!! I have really enjoyed reading everyones comments and reviews, keep them coming!! We leave Jan. 16th, and I'm already so excited!!:)

We have sailed a lot on the Liberty and there has never been a magnifying mirror in any of the cabins we have had but the one I take with me. ;) That is one thing I would never leave at home ;).

You are going to love the Liberty. She really is a beautiful ship.

  9. Where do you get the compass on the first day? Do you have to get it in your stateroom? Can you pick them up when you board?

They are in your cabin when you walk in, most of the time laying on the bed or on the vanity. Extra copies for other members of the family are at the pursers desk, hanging on the wall near the pursers desk, going into the windjammer and others places over the ship.

  10. Hum, you are making me wondering if we should switch down a deck. We are currently in a Family Promenade Cabin on 8. How was the noise level on 8? Our kids will be fairly young (4 and 1.75).

We have stayed on all decks in the promenade cabins and during the parade you will hear it. The lights are bright as well and no mater how tight you close those curtains, light will come in during the parade. A tiny bit of light comes in at the top of the curtain...not much. There is a curtain, sheer and the curtain is very thick...rubber backing. After the parade, no problem with noise or light. Everything is quite during the night and you never hear anything any other time. (day or night) The parade is on the television while it is going on.

The parade never bothers us if we want to go to bed but I can see where it might others. We are very sound sleepers, especially on a cruise ship.

  11. One quick question for anyone recently on LOS...if you happen to recall and/or noticed...which side of the public decks allowed smoking (port or starboard)?

My experience on past (older) RCCL ships has been that the starboard side was the smoking side, but I've seen it mentioned in a couple of reviews from earlier this year that on the Liberty it was the port side...just trying to clarify!

    Thanks! :D

Typing from the compass ...We have designated smoking areas in many of our lounges and on the portside of open air decks and balconies. Refrain from smoking pipes or cigars in any of the public areas. Pipes and cigars are only permitted within the cigar lounge. Smoking is not permitted in any staterooms but guests with balconies may smoke there.

  12. Does anyone know if Sorrento's is open upon boarding, or is the Windjammer the only place to eat lunch on day 1?

On Day 1...Windjammer opens at 11:30 am and closes at 3:30 pm. Cafe Promenade is open 24 hours and Sorrento's Pizza opens at 11:30 am and closes at 2:00 am.

We just got off on Sunday and that is the times they gave for this weeks cruise. (got Day 1 compass before leaving)

When we sailed on Aug 15th, it was in Day 1 compass...the Windjammer opened at 12:00 noon and closed at 3:30 pm. but there was problems that day and it opened a little later. Rest of the times were the same.
