You can’t buy buckets of beers using Cheers but you can buy the drink special of the day using Cheers.

I think you are mixing up "buying" and "getting" for the OP.  If you have Cheers, you have already "bought" it and are "getting" drinks through the package at no extra cost.  If you want something not on Cheers, you have to "buy" it.

    Hello,

I was looking at the cheers beverage program and it says it is 50 dollars per day.

I was wondering if on days that I don’t drink anything, do I still get charged?  How does this work?

I wish they had a 3 out of 7 day package.  I might be interested in that, but I'm not a big drinker, and can't sustain that kind of drinking for that many days straight.  Have to be a big drinker at home to take full advantage.

Just buy your drinks when you need them, and you will be WAY better off.  Carnival sells this to make a profit from the 90% that aren't big drinkers...

As stated, the policy is set to maximize profits for Carnival.  So what you have to do is determine how much just the one of you would drink. Drinks cost $8.25 and up, while beers are around $6.00 a piece. If one person would drink more than $108 per day, then Cheers is best even with only one drinking. The other person would still get the benefit of coffee, sodas, milk-shakes, power aide, waters etc.

If not, just by the drinks as you go. Remember, port days you may or not be able to reach your 15 drink limit assuming you go ashore.

Should use that Excel file to see what the actual break even point is with one person drinking booze and one drinking the other things.  The OP doesn't actually have to hit the $108 number themselves...

Your misunderstanding what is meant by checking bags. This means the porters stop accepting bags to be loaded on the ship for crew delivery to the cabin. If anything port security may look closer at the bags of those arriving later as the line tends to be shorter, giving them more time to do hand searches of carry-ons.

Okay, good to know you're recommending to sneak my alcohol on earlier, as that is when they are busier.  Thanks for the advice!

Not at all. She’s free to arrive separately. Since you said she’s waiting till closer to sail away, she needs to make sure she’s on board by the final boarding time printed on the boarding pass, or she can’t board. And let her know that they stop checking bags 2 hours before sailing. At that point, she’d have to carry everything on herself.

Glad to hear they stop checking bags at a certain point!  That is when I bring on my 4 bags of vodka and rum

I'm guessing it is a secret, as none of the prolific cruisers are answering!  I wondered the same thing

As a gambler with over 30 cruises l would be willing to bet that over half of the smoke in casinos come from non gamblers who just sat around the bar area and smoke.

I'll bet you $20 you can't stop gambling for 48 hours

    Hi

I think this is more clear when there is an understanding that on board the ship, if there is any emergency situation, passengers are required to take direction from the crew. This is part of what they are explaining when you do the muster drill at the beginning of the cruise. Granted, many people do not pay attention, or are often intoxicated.

It's quite clear that if one was in a similar situation and did not follow orders, that person would be considered a danger to themselves and all around them. This could have been a more critical situation and with poor judgment could well have caused injury. Any company allowing this to go "unpunished" according to their guidelines would be setting themselves up for severe scrutiny if a following incident were to occur and did not have a positive outcome.

Even though we are on vacation and trying to enjoy ourselves, everyone needs to take responsibility for their actions.

When you ply people with copious amounts of alcohol to keep shareholders happy, how do you really expect things to go down?

I assume it’s divided evenly amongst the bartenders. Or they could do it like pooled dealer tips in a casino. Add all of the pooled tips together and divide it by the total number of bartender hours worked by all bartenders. Then however many hours you worked that week, you get that tip rate for them on top of your pay rate and personal tips.

But the reason I asked the question is someone said the bartender would love to open a soda for 45 cents. My point is if it’s one of those drink packages, they may not get an auto tip for each drink...so they wouldn’t get one unless the kid wrote in a tip which I doubt they do.

Sounds about right, as is your point on the auto-tip on a beverage package.   Bartenders may get a little weary when an adult or kid keeps coming in for more drinks, but don't add extra tip.  Not that it should be expected, they already paid too much for the package, and the tips were added (although, depending on the number of drinks they get a day, their actual tipping may be closer to 5% than the normal 15-25%).
