It's 6/4 and I get my money back from Princess, full refund including insurance.. I was booked on a cruise leaving 4/14. I responded to Princess' refund e-mail of 3/12 requesting a cash refund. I disputed the charge on 5/13. Citibank was great to work with. Princess stunk. At least it's over.

I can't understand why people who have waited 60 days for a refund of any kind have not filled a dispute with their credit company. If you have all your documentation, Princess has not got a leg to stand on.

I believe that the cruise on the Coral was sold with the only disembarkation port being Fort Lauderdale.
-
Princess has had some bad luck over the past several months, to say the least. But some of this bad luck management has brought on itself. Example - the Coral Princess last cruise. It was a bad idea to try to disembark people at a strange port, Buenos Aires or Rio, in the midst of a pandemic. Better solution would have been to get supplies and fuel, keep all guests on board, and then sail right back to the final port, Fort Lauderdale. As it turned out Princess' initial decision was a very bad solution and one that caused some to lose lives.
Secondly, for the past months stretching back to 2019 before the pandemic it was very difficult to get a rep on the phone. People (including me) were held waiting a response for me an hour one time. There was no provision for a call back.
Third the response to the cancellations has been a disaster even today more than two months after the initial announcement of cruise cancellations, March 11th.
Paraphrasing the words of Mel Brooks from Blazing Saddles, Jan, the Swartz, has Not been with us!!!!! DUMP HER.

Arbitration may get the result the writer wants. t is not a crooked process.

They need staff to process refunds. This ain't good.

You can file an action in small claims court. It must be filed in California. Max is $10,000.
-
Rascal1 you are being very patient. I hope that you don't get burned.

I watched a YouTube today. The vlogger claimed that one could be banned from future cruises for taking this action, that is filing a dispute with your credit card company for the return of your fare when the cruise line cancelled your cruise. This is the case with Princess' cancellations related to the current Covid19 situation.
This sounds are fetched, but if it's true it's akin to being banned from a crooked poker game!

Wow. I am now really glad I filed a dispute the other day if the president's office is giving that advice.
My Princess personal cruise consultant also told me to file a dispute with my credit card company. This is a very bad reflection on Princess to say the least!

If you go the small claims route, you must file in California. It's in the small print in the cruise contract.

I told Citibank that I have been waiting over 60 days or a refund that Princess cancelled. My dispute was entered by Citi and I received a provisional credit in two days. Simple

I was booked on the Emerald 4/14 Hawaii cruise. I chose option 2 on 3/12 when the cancellation notification went out. No money and just a BS e-mail from Princess since then. I disputed by charges (down payment, final payment, and an upgrade) on May 13th. Citibank took the info, took about 10 minutes in total. Today May 15, I got my credit posted to my credit card. Easy. If Princess disputes (on what basis I can't imagine) I have all my documentation. Life is to short to tolerate such BS from a vendor. Re the FCC I could care less!

I filed my dispute with Citibank on May 13th and received the provisional credit today May 15th. I'm sorry that I got my months mixed up. I waited 60 days plus to file my dispute and Citibank handled it quickly and efficiently.

I filed a dispute with Citibank on May13th and got a provisional credit for all my expenses today. I am done fooling around with Princess. If they go bankrupt, the trust may try for a claw-back, but Princess' records seem to be so bad that this probably is a remote possibility.
I am curious to see if Princess will dispute my claim. In the meantime I have use of $7,200+. I could care less about the 25% FCC I was promised. EVERYBODY SHOULD FILE A DISPUTE!

Everyone owed any cash should file a dispute with their credit card company. I chose option 2 on March 12. Nothing outside of the message to all on May 1 asking for patience. I got fed up on March 13 and received a provisional credit for all my payments to Princess two days later, today March15th.
As far as I am concerned Princess can stuff it. Don't care if I never receive the 25% FCC. I am curious to see whether princess will dispute my claim. If they go bankrupt, the trust could claw back my refund, but Princess' records are so bad I doubt this will happen.
Do yourselves a favor. File a dispute so you can get this behind you!

I filled a claim with my credit cared bank. Think of this. We have all met young people on our cruises. They plunked down their money. They could need it to get by. I am an old fa--t and can live without the refund. But by putting pressure on the cruise lines, I believe that we will help of us. Maybe it will get the government interested. Hope so. File a complaint. It may help. Could put pressure on the cruise companies and help all of us especially those who do have a hardship.

My refund due is about $7,250. While I do not need the money, I feel a great need for more info from Princess AND a bit of courtesy. After this I will stick to Holland America and not just for the free laundry! While HAL might have done the thing to me, I will give them the benefit of the doubt (and thank the good Lord that they don't have any of my $)!

I was booked on the Emerald leaving 4/14. Received notice from Princess on 3/12 that the cruise was cancelled. I immediately chose option 3, full cash refund plus 25% FCC. Today 5/13 I filed my my dispute with Citibank. Enough was enough. I e-mailed my person at Princess on 5/11. No response. Citibank took my info this morning and immediately gave me a provisional credit for my cost approximately $7,250. Said the final resolution will take no longer than 45 days. At this point I could care less for the 25% FCC.
Citibank was very responsive. Let's see if shaking the tree bears any fruit.

After following this thread on and off for a couple of weeks, I decided to file a dispute with Citibank. As background I booked a cruise on the Emerald, round trip L A to Hawaii. I paid the down-payment on 12/18 and the final two payments in January. On March 12th when Princess sent me a cancellation notice I opted for the cash refund with the 25% FCC. I think that puts me in group 3. After waiting for more than sixty days, I've had enough. Citibank will give me a conditional credit. I will keep you fellow sufferers up to date on my situation. Thanks for relaying your experiences.

We are being told by the company to be patient while they process refunds. They claim to be overwhelmed. However, their accounting staff has less to do on other fronts. No provisioning for current voyages, no accounting for guests' current charges, less crew to pay. Seems to me that the processing of refunds is more than balanced by the reduction in the accounting for ongoing everyday expenses. To put it bluntly, WHAT A CROCK!!!

Yes and no. In the long run Carnival might benefit, but in the short and intermediate time frame this will make people reluctant to book cruises altogether. No one wants to lose money in a bankruptcy. I would not commit purchase anything that I might not get to enjoy. What I am suggesting is that Carnival's immediate cash flow from its operations. will be affected by the Norwegian situation

Canada is not the only nation to close its ports. Other countries may not welcome cruises in the future under current circumstances. Regarding suspension of the act or acts impeding domestic cruising, any suspension to be a real suspension would have to be passed in a legal fashion. Otherwise it would not be a suspension! If the foreign cruise ships would desire to avail themselves of this suspension, the clout of this temporary being revoked would assure adherence to whatever rules the U S would impose. It is the power of the buck.
Funny thing - just made 5 Stars and then........

The folks at Carnival are not stupid. They want to retain our loyalty at this difficult not alienate us. I doubt they would take an irrational action and cancel or degrade the existing program. They might create a new tier, six stars, and add some additional perks.
