We flew into Seattle and took the super shuttle bus to Vancouver. It dropped us at our hotel and then we took the hotel shuttle to the port the next morning. The Shuttle bus picked us up at the cruise terminal and took us directly back to Seattle airport. We did have to get off the bus and go through customs at the Canadian border upon entry to the country though.
The cost of the flight to Seattle & the shuttle bus combined was still considerable cheaper than flying to Vancouver.
This was several years ago though, things could have changed, but I'd definitely check it out.

Can someone that has booked a 5 day on the Islander tell me how much the port fees and taxes are? I hate that I can't see all the associated fees without entering our names etc.. I just want to know what the total bottom dollar is going to be.

Has anyone been able to view/book a cruise for March 2025? I see it online, but when I click the link, I get an error that says "nothing is here" 😞 I'd love to book a virgin voyage for my spring break 2025.

I know the Prima is now doing fixed menus in the MDR, but is it likely that there will be a special menu on Christmas Day? We are on a cruise from Dec. 23-30.
I don't know if they will have a special menu, but I am on this sailing as well 🙂

We are sailing on the Prima in December. Can you use your dining package for an a la cart restaurant? Specifically the Food Republic, if so, what are you allowed to order on the package?

Thanks for keeping us updated on the current processes. We are supposed to board the Escape 1/8/22. Can I ask when/how you received your code for COVID testing? I registered for the test during check in as required. will they just test/email us a code closer to time?

We booked this cruise before COVID was even a thing as our family Thanksgiving get together. Paid in full and requested our exemption in August. STILL haven't heard anything and many people in our online group that shall not be named booked in September and got their exemptions right away. Every time I call, I get the same old "they don't do the exemptions until 14 days prior" which is apparently not true. I don't mind waiting if that's the rule, but it's frustrating when it isn't the rule for everyone.

I won't be platinum until the last day of my upcoming cruise, but my luggage tags say "platinum" 😁

We currently have a cruise scheduled for Thanksgiving. My husband & I are fully vaccinated, but our daughter is only 11 and isn't eligible to get vaccinated. How do we know when it's time to request a waiver for her? Is it a certain number of days prior? will Carnival contact us? does my TA handle this? I just want to be prepared.

I sailed on the Grand Celebration last year. It's an older retired ship. formerly the Carnival Celebration. I thought they did a great job with it's last renovation. It looked better than when I sailed on it with Carnival in 2000. Not many bells and whistles, but it was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The ship was very easy to navigate other than the typical dining room deck that you can't walk from one end of the ship to the other because of the galley. I had a great solo trip.
Interesting. Could make for an interesting long weekend getaway. I just priced out a trip over the Canada Day long weekend (30 Jun to 02 Jul) and an Oceanview stateroom would be $256.52 all in. That's cheaper than the airfare to get to PBI from YYZ!Has anyone here actually sailed on these ships? I'll have to go see if I can find some reviews.

Me too!! Booked the Dream for Thanksgiving 2019 and Freedom for February 2020. I REALLY wanted to book a second cruise for this year, but I have several pending inspections at work that I can't miss and they haven't released the dates yet. :( I'm hoping that once I know the dates I can snag a pack and go before the end of 2018. I've been cruising 4 times a year for the past several years and this relocation for work is really putting a cramp in my cruise style. LOL

The Norwegian Breakaway will be coming to New Orleans in the fall of 2018. I just booked a studio cabin for February 2019. I was super excited to see a ship with a solo lounge sailing from a port close enough for me to drive. I did a solo cruise on the Epic this past February and had a blast. Can't wait to do it again.

I'm going on the Epic in February
I did the Epic solo this past February and had an absolute blast. :D

Hi, just booked the Breakaway for February 2019 in a studio cabin. How is the studio lounge on the Breakaway? Has anyone done both this ship & the Epic in a studio that can compare the two? Really looking forward to my next solo cruise experience.

Or you could have sodas already in your room fridge.
The sodas in the mini fridge are not included in the bottomless bubbles package.

same here. I was pricing cruises for next year, and Celebrity (which also prices in Canadian dollars for us), and included standard beverage package plus wifi, worked out to be just a couple of hundred dollars more than Carnival. I also am wanting to try NCL newer ships with solo cabins. I know Carnival is really trying to draw in the families and market itself as the family cruise line, but they are sure not doing much to draw me back. Sorry for the negative, but is just the way I feel about it.
Just recently did a cruise in an NCL solo cabin. It was amazing, can't wait to do it again. 😉

We did the Behind the Fun tour on the Victory and loved it! I highly recommend it. The tour we were on wasn't full and they said that hardly ever happens! We were the first 2 to sign up, they said they needed at least 6-8 to be able to do the tour. Luckily, seven more people signed up so there were 9 of us altogether. The crew member that lead the tour took all our cell phones/cameras/etc from us and put them in a backpack during the tour (which she carried).
Be sure to wear closed toe shoes or they'll send you back to your cabin to change your shoes. It may be hard for people with any kind of limitations (bad back, knees, or trouble walking/climbing stairs). We got several goodies like the pictures, backpack, cap, lanyard and later that night there were chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us in our cabin. I would definitely do it again on a different ship, well worth the money IMO :D
Sad that they don't let you take pictures during the tour. We weren't allowed to when we did behind the scenes on the Elation either. Did the tour on NCL Epic and they not only allowed, but encouraged people to take pictures.

I definitely see this as an option to keep in touch with my daughter on our cruise next month.

Maybe it depends on when you sail. My Dad & I did the BOGO last year and it was $999 for both of us. I thought $500 per person was pretty good for a balcony. I do agree they should advertise the actual regular price and then say 2nd passenger is free so that it isn't so confusing.

Three more nights until Im Platinum and sailing next month so holding my breath lol

I needed 3 nights to be platinum too. I wanted to hit that before my Epic cruise in February, so I hopped a quick 4 day on the Sky in December. I'm ready to try out platinum perks now. 😁

You'll have live music in 5-7 spots nightly.
Kids programs quite good, nice sized club. They supposedly win all kinds of awards for their kids club. don't know if that is true or not, but we saw plenty for kids to do and they have character interaction and even some kids club games by the pool.
Plenty of day time activities, all the regular "cruise" stuff.
I thought MSC service was better than NCL. I think the MSC ships are classier than the NCL ships I have been on. NCL is a bit more multi-generational friendly as they offer something for everyone, MSC is a bit more classic cruise experience.
Liked MSC very much, have another booked for this spring and will likely book again for 2018 or 2019. Just got off NCL last month.
I think that's a good comparison. I've sailed both and enjoyed both. They each have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.

Confused about booking yacht club
in MSC Cruises
Posted
I've sailed MSC once before, but we just booked a Bella experience. Can anyone help me out with a question about booking yacht club? It looks like all drinks are included with yacht club, does that mean I only need to select "best rate" rather than "best value" when booking? I don't need wifi, and I wouldn't need to book a drink package correct?
