  1. Ship policy is now changed - no signing up for towels anymore - although if you leave the ship with one they sign them up and you must return them.

We've been on two cruises in the last month and it's so hard to tell who has what chairs now because people just leave the towels on the chairs and go without any person items nearby.

So what do you do with something like that. I love the new policy but it's confusing when you walk around and see 90 % of the chairs, just with towels on them - do you take them off, or just keep looking???

  2. For those diamond members not yet called - don't feel bad - we are diamond plus - close to pinnacle and haven't received an email or a call - oh well - I don't really care anyway - I hate this new dining arrangement and don't like the idea that we have to book 14 nights of dining. Us and another couple are just going to wing it when it comes to eating - and good grief there will be lots of places to grab something.

Hopefully, we'll just hit the windjammer on occasion and be satisfied. I certainly hope they don't have this type of dining on any other older ships. We like traditional dining and when preparing for a holiday the last thing I want to think about is booking reservations for dinner. Not much of a holiday when you have to spend time doing this plus arranging for tours etc.

I like to be pampered I guess - it's just my opinion.

  3. Thanks for the information Melanie - Canadian eh?

We are too and will definitely look into the larger cabana - my hubby is the only one that doesn't like the sunshine - oh well, his loss - the rest of us will be in the water or laying in the sun.

Thanks again- We are on the Freedom, December 2

  4. We are wanting to rent a cabana in Coco Cay - but there are 6 of us adults- the ones in Labadee are excellent - along with the steak and shrimp lunch, baked potatoes, salads, etc.

We are hearing now that we are not near the water on Coco Cay and that does not sound appealing. I love the water and would have to go back and forth for swimming.

How far is the walk over to the swimming area. To me it's kind of sensless just to sit there and look at the ship and the water and not being able to go in, in the same area.

So, any more thoughts and if you get your own chef is it possible to have 6 of us in the same cabana? Can't see spending 300.00 for two of them. Wish we were going to Labadee and not Coco Cay, -- we've been there several times and are not impressed with the vendors, although I don't like them on Labadee so we stay away from that area. I hate getting mobbed by them but sure do love Barefoot Beach area.

  5. I'm a Begatarian too I guess - the old menus were good - I always found something good on them - and as long as someone cooks for me I love them. But it will be nice to see some changes and look forward to them on the Jewel.

We also are on the Independence in March but 16th to the 24th - so we will just miss some of you.

Love the ship, just not the regular itineraries. So we shall see - friends are supposed to be going with us - so it should be a fun trip

  6. My husband has ice cream every night at dinner - if its on the menu or not - he always asks for it

Our other friends always ask for fresh strawberries in a bowl for dessert with their ice cream and get it too - so just depends what you ask for I think

  7. We were on the Radiance cabin 1052 right under the pool deck and it was absolutely horrible - 3 out of 5 nights there were "Beach Parties" - two that lasted til 12:30 and one lasted til 1:30 - the third night I called Guest Relations and no one answered the phone so I called Maintenance when another round of loud banging started for 3/4 of an hour.

It was our first Grand Suite and we had access to the Concierge Lounge - which was a bonus so we thought - and plus two leaks from the toilet which was not pretty - so other than the terrific concierge and friends we met - was not a good experience:)

  8. Our catastrophe was on the Brilliance last month in Villefranche - when the Mediteranean got so choppy that the ship left 1800 of us on shore and we had to be bused to Toloun - about 3-4 hours away - we got on the ship at 1:30 in the morning - some didn't get back til after four a.m. - was not fun the next day for our tour which we had to be up for 6:30 a.m. - but we managed to get through it - Royal said this happens about once a year and we had to be one of the unlucky ones:)
