  1. Shouldn't every night have service like this?

Why does RCI dining have to mess up so bad for them to see the problems and then bend over backwards to please us? We have been burned by lousy service at the beginning of many cruises. The explanation from the dining staff is, "it's our first night". But aren't there 52 first nights a year?

They need to provide great service from the first day.

That's what we always felt. First day always seem to be the first time.

  2. I disagree...the OP said it didn't ruin their cruise, but it certainly impacted their enjoyment. I wouldn't drop it, because I think if we (everyone who cruises on RCI) lets blatant rules violations slide without holding the company accountable for enforcing their policies, then the selfish few will negatively impact the enjoyment of the majority.

Whether it's smoking, chair hogging, running in wet areas, or making a lot of noise late at night, all the rules are there for a reason -- some multiple reasons. Smoking? It's a fire hazard and the majority of people don't like it. Noise? It disturbs people when they're trying to sleep. Some rules are for safety, some are for comfort and enjoyment, and some are for both. I think we as passengers have the right to expect the cruise line to enforce the policies they've implemented.

By the way, I WAS the principal!:) As such, I'm a fan of the rule followers!:D

Correct. Why should my enjoyment of the trip be allowed to be

Disturbed by someone breaking rules they knew of when they booked said trip

  3. We were told by a ships officer who requested not to be named that the incident had moved to phase two. I do not know what that meant but that is where it is at. Thanks to all for you're support it has been a rewarding experience to know so many people are concerned for us! Perhaps we shall all get to sail together some day without incident.

  4. Its clear by threads like these who ran to the principals office when they were younger, who use to fight and who was go with the flow... Kinda funny. The interesting thing is on the aft of voyager and freedom class ships is where the dining room crew go out for smoke breaks on deck 5 which is visible from most of the aft balconies. It might be awkward for someone who was just out there smoking have to come and reprimand someone for smoking as many of the crew wear multiple hats. I remember a cruise about a 2 years ago where my wife, 3 year old son and myself were walking back from picking up my son from the nursery on Oasis and on our way we walked by a room that Jeff Spicoli must have been staying in with Chech and Chong. The smell of herb was so strong when we walked by a cabin and it filled the hallway. I stopped for a split second to reminisce about my not so long ago youth and 2 ships officers walked right by me and said "smells a little skunky eh?" We all laughed. It was not the only night we smelt it in that particular location.

Actually I was usually the one getting told on, but what does that have to do with the fact I had an unusable balcony that the ship refused to do anything about. I have not heard from Bailey's office yet & they are investigating the officer that we spoke to so I will not name them. It has not ruined our trip but it has dissapointed me in Rccl.

  5. I wish I could lend the OP my DH - he can clear a large room in the blink of an eye with certain ... ahem ... bodily emanations! He could stand with his back to the rail and let rip every time they lit up! The occupants of the other balcony would soon find out about the effects of noxious air :o;)

On second thoughtd, this would be a definite fire hazard ...

Wish we had him. Talked to someone who told us they told the smoker if we complain again they will be hit with a very large fine. So far so good

  6. Like it or not' date=' there is no legal expectation of privacy while on a balcony. Knocking something out of someone's hands, dumping water on them, etc., is Battery. The cell or brig for the perpetrator will not have a balcony. :)

Do not directly communicate with the offenders. There is risk in doing so.

I'm sure Royal will do something for you, but it's a shame it's ruining your trip in the meantime.[/quote']

There was no way I would confront them. I thought calling guest services was the thing to do. Apparently not, but it hasn't ruined our trip. Certainly hasn't enhanced it any. Thanks

  7. If I want to use my balcony I should not be required to alter MY schedule around someone else's to avoid being subjected to second hand smoke on a line whose policy is very clear( and to their credit mostly well enforced)

Correct I paid for my space & if Royal says no smoking then enforce it .I didn't say it was constant I just don't want to smell it when I want to relax on my balcony. I don't care how much or often you smoke, just do it where it is allowed

  8. I would find a person that would look into a persons balcony and taking a picture just creepy and unstable. I guess I just don't see it like you do.

I didn't have to peek the balcony is right below me with no cover on it. That's why the smoke was coming up to our balcony. I made sure not to capture his face. The way they were not acting to fix this convinced us we needed to document it. The officer asked to see it but then did nothing

  9. Not looking for compensation & I will not change cruise lines. I love Royals product, but I can't believe they will not fix this.. I have mailed Bailey but no response yet. The officer met with U.S. In the concierge lounge on night # 2 with Nadja ( who has really tried to help), but I guess they are afraid to confront

them . I don't know what else to think!
