  1. Was just thinking now that I am sporting a new shorter "do", I might be able to get by with the ship's hair dryer as it doesn't take long to dry it now. Does the Triumph have hair dryers in the room?

Hoping to minimize packing to a carry on suitcase.

  2. We are on the same cruise in October and were really happy with the change...more time on the beach!

To the person who mentioned the # of ships in port that day...I haven't personally looked it up but someone on another group site mentioned there would be 2 ships in port the day we were originally supposed to be there, and now there will be 3 on the day we'll be there. No biggie with me...we'll make sure we're off the ship in plenty of time to grab a couple of chairs on the beach.

  3. Thanks so much for your review! I was leery about Jamaica and what to do when we're there next May. After reading your review and checking out Tripadvisor I think this is the perfect plan for us as we'll be traveling with 4--20year olds!

I sent an email to Liberty yesterday asking for pricing and they promptly responded back. I was bit disappointed as I had inquired about their Blue Hole + Tubing tour, but they said we wouldn't have enough time for the tubing part. We will be in the Montego Bay port from 9 - 6. Is it a long drive to Blue Hole?

Regardless, this sounds amazing! Thanks again!

  4. I was booked on the Breeze, now Splendor. I've been on and off the phone with my PVP and other folks at Carnival. I get different answers every time I call. I'm actually looking to move my reservation to a different ship now. I was originally booked with the reduced deposit promotion, and she told me that if I switched ships, that I'd have to pay the remaining deposit amount. Plus she told me that even though the letter stated $50 OBC per person, they cap it at $100 per room.... I had 2 connecting rooms with 5 people... I'm ok with having to pay the remaining deposit amount if I switch, although I feel that shouldn't be the case, but the fact that they appear to be making up their own rules is rediculous. They also told me that I can't make any changes until at least Friday... At this point, I'm very tempted on just canceling altogether.

Johnny....I lost my $50 credit/person this morning when I switched from the Splendor to the Breeze next May. I just called back Carnival and told them I had heard from people were able to keep their deposits when changing ships and I wanted to know why I couldn't keep my credits. She confirmed with her supervisor that no....when switching ships the credits would get removed. Please report back if you were able to keep yours. Thanks!

  5. Why did you lose the OBC? I was told several times, that if we move our reservation to another ship within the 10 days, the OBC transfers with us to the new reservation.

I was told I lost it because we went from a 6-day to 7-day cruise for the same fare. Looking at the current rates posted for our Breeze cruise, it pretty much ends up being a wash as the difference in the amounts is about equal to the credit we would have gotten. For us personally, we're thrilled to be on the 7-day. I would have loved getting the credit in addition, but it wasn't a deal breaker.

  6. We were booked on the Breeze for May 15, 2016 out of Miami and we weren't happy about switching to the Splendor. There's no comparison in ships. I called this morning and switched our reservation back to the Breeze leaving from Galveston. We got the same room types (we have 3 rooms booked) and it's now a 7-day cruise rather than a 6-day and our rates stayed pretty much the same (a bit cheaper) so we're ecstatic--one extra day on the ship.

I should mention we did lose the $50/person credit offered in the letter.

  7. We received the same email for our May 15th cruise. We're really not interested in cruising on the Splendor--for us there's no comparison! We booked 3 rooms on the Breeze for both the ship and the itinerary. We might end up following her to Galveston depending on the itinerary and if the pricing compares to what we booked previously.

We're cruising with 4 20-somethings--3 whom have never cruised before. I'd rather have them cruise on the Breeze with the hopes of them turning into cruise addicts too! :D

  8. For Pete's Sake...they weren't there so you didn't see their behavior when we kindly told them we had been sitting there and that they had moved our stuff. They were rude and inconsiderate.

And as to whether we lost our seats the minute we get up...give me a break. We were not gone a long time beyond the drill which is why we were surprised to see someone had taken our seats--you are allowed a certain amount of time to grab food, bathroom breaks, etc.

Juvenile? Maybe...but I was in shock that common courtesy was not shown on their part. Go ahead...keep flaming me.

  9. Your question brought back to memory a situation that happened on our Conquest cruise in February. We boarded the ship and found a couple of loungers one deck up from the pool. We sat there enjoying the sun until it was time for the "drill".

After the drill we went to the outer deck for sail away and when we got back to our loungers an older couple moved our things and took over our loungers. Very aggravating because we occupied the loungers all day until the drill and we weren't really on the deck for sail away that long. Needless to say they wouldn't move when we kindly told them they took our seats. Well actually...the husband would have moved but his wife was being the stubborn one.

So what to do in that situation? After standing by for a while thinking they would feel guilty for taking our chairs...with no luck...we stood right in front of them blocking their view of the pool. Eventually they got up and moved.

  10. Avis will do a one way rental from IAH to Texas City. They will drive you to the port for an additional fee of $ 50. They will do the same on the return as well. Was by far the cheapest option we found.

Sent from my SM-G900V using Forums mobile app

Thank you for this info. I just spoke with LaShonda at AVIS-Texas City and we are set to go in October. She is very kind and helpful!

As additional info for others because I had to ask...their shuttle is continuous from the AVIS rental location to the port during the hours they are open. Call once you've booked your car rental and they will ask for your confirmation # to note shuttle service on your reservation.

  11. We were on PB the week before last. Even with it raining off and on again...it was a great day on the beach! We loved watching the kids and adults on the blowup water toys! Wishing I was back there right now...snow and frigid temps here in Michigan. Have a great time!

  12. I was looking at the Vista TA. Price went up $1000. in five days. Yes, that said one thousand dollars. I was waiting to book when on our Freedom Repo cruise for the OBC. So much for that idea. Now I will just have to hope that after I book the price will come down and I can match thru ES.

I also noticed the crazy price increase on the Vista TA. An inside room last week was $549 I think?? Now it's $1,049. Was half-way contemplating a balcony on that cruise--not so sure now.

  13. I leave in 3 weeks with my sweetie who's never cruised before and another couple who are also cruise virgins. I've taken care of all the planning--including booking their cruise. Since we've booked, due to price rate reductions, our rooms have bumped from the 2nd floor to the Lido deck and I've also bought FTTF for both rooms. My BF knows about the bump and FTTF but the other couple does not. SURPRISE!! :D My BF and I have also rounded up door decorations for both rooms.

I love the idea of ordering some chocolate covered strawberries or other treat for their room. I'll have to do that!!

I love traveling with friends who have never cruised before and their excitement and new experiences! At the same time, I don't want them to think I'm over-planning their vacation or ruining the element of surprise. It's so hard not to!! I would love to switch careers to be a cruise vacation planner!!
