  1. I have been trying to get answers on certain questions I have about the ship and all these people are doing is complaining. WHat is important to some people isn't to others. I have never heard so many people complain about food! There are so many options if you don't like something have something else! With that said can someone please answer some questions about the ship. I always have a good time no matter what the reviews are !

    1. Are there bands in the ocean plaza or casino area?

    2. Do they play every night?

    3. Is there a band in the havana club ?

    4. THe disco is it open every evening ?

    5. Has anyone stayed on deck 8 and do you know if it is noisy? THe rooms are AFT .

THanks for your help as I have posted on other threads and haven't gotten the answers I need. these are the things that are important to me .

THe shows I never go see and I can always have pizza or a salad !

    I LOVe CArnival !

I can only answer one of the questions: There is no band in the casino. However right around the corner is the red frog pub and in there AND right outside there, were two musician locations.

I spent most of my time in the casino.

We too stopped going to the shows a few cruises ago. Just not our thing. I hear they've made them shorter but I'm sorry for the folks who did like them. We DO like the comedy and the room is way too small. But we always got a seat by going early. The first show we didn't go early enough and started to end up on the side where you watch it on a tv. I didn't want to do that, and was prepared to leave when I noticed a couple of seats back by the bar. We had to separate but that was ok. Every other show we got there early enough.

We DID do one show this time: Legends of Rock (iirc) and really loved it.

Sorry I cannot answer more of your questions.

  2. A gentlemen on one of our HAL cruises was complaining at the front desk that he and his wife hadn't gotten any dinner. Since it was embarkation day and we had just sailed out of port (and it wasn't dinner time yet) I'm sure the young lady at the desk was as confused as I was. Finally I realized that he was talking about a PREVIOUS cruise - not the one we we were on. Unfortunately I was called up to the desk so I didn't get to hear what she told him. I told DH later that considering the number of places to eat on a ship if you didn't get dinner it's your fault.

If it was after noon, it was after dinner for many people.

I don't use that term any more because of the confusion. Around here if someone says 'after dinner' I ask for clarification if they mean Lunch or Supper (no confusion on those terms). It's a regional thing as to when that meal is taken.

  3. We were there on the 2nd. It was a last minute decision, walking down the pier. Carminita took great care of us, as did David (snorkeling) and Juaquin(iirc) behind the bar, and Betty gave me a great massage. :p

Really a wonderful day. Thanks for all the info here, y'all!

Yes they sell them on the Conquest. You pay $100 and it is applied to a later cruise along with an OBC.

Do you know how much of an On Board Credit it is, and if you have to pick which cruise you want to go on? I don't have any future cruise picked out, but I know I will go on one, so I'd like to put a down payment on a future cruise.

  5. I've sailed her twice recently, you can check my blog for details. That being said it can be changed from cruise to cruise especially if there is a holiday. They seem to have moved the past guest party to the last sea day and they usually have two different events and times.

Hi, and thanks for the reply! I'm not much of a blog reader but I have been reading trip reports here on the board. One from Mach (i think I spelled that right) from a recent trip had the Captain's reception on Monday. Again, I think it was Monday. It had a funny acronym like the 'She Who must be obeyed' that a friend of mine uses for his wife. :p

Would you happen to know if the reception is Monday? I forgot to ask ^^ up there with my other questions!

Oh, I do get that it can vary, too :-) But I'm just looking for "usual/regular/normal" ya know? :)

    TIA,

    Sherry

  6. Formal: Monday and Thurs;

Past Guest- Saturday, we went at 4:00, but they had another one too, @5:30 I think.

Hope this helps. We just arrived back on Sunday. We had a blast, hate to come home- blah.

Helps a BUNCH!! Can't help you with post-cruise blues though. Sorry about that!

Off to work on my planning some more. :D

  7. Thanks suzy1212. Not what I wanted to hear, but better to know up front!

silentz, thanks for the heads up. We aren't taking my daughter and I've been trying to figure out how to stay in touch with her. Last cruise we DID take her and so I didn't bother staying in touch with anyone. :D Oh when we docked at Key West I called my mom for a few minutes but had we gone to Costa Maya as we were supposed to, I wouldn't have.
