  1. Tampa is prone to fog issues. We just got off the Dawn on February 2nd. We were in a suite with priority disembarkation and we walked off the ship at 12pm. Due to heavy fog the ship wasn't able to enter the channel the night before and we didn't even start our approach into Tampa until around 8 am still in heavy fog. Many people with early flights missed them. From what I understand this is not unusual for Tampa. Luckily our flight wasn't until 4pm.

  2. I've done both and loved both but for different reasons. I love the Summit, she is quiet, less kids, better dining in my opinion and a little more elegant. Yes, she is an older ship, but so is the Explorer. The Explorer has more of the wow factor with the royal promenade, the ice shows, etc. but it also carries more passengers and more kids. Ultimately it depends on the kind of experience you want.

  3. I just sailed out of Tampa on the Dawn two weeks ago and there was someone outside the terminal building selling bottled water by the case. I'm sorry I can't tell you the cost as I didn't notice, but they were definitely there.

  4. I feel your pain with tech support. I booked a cruise 2 days ago over the phone. The rep said I had multiple lattitudes accounts and she was going to fix that. Well, when I got the confirmation I was listed as living at a whole different address. Called in again and had that problem fixed. Next, I could no longer log into my account at NCL. The next agent I spoke to said I had to speak to tech support. After a 47 minute wait on hold a tech support person reset my password which took about 2 seconds. I guess long hold times are the norm.

  5. I have sailed on both ships to Bermuda, the Summit this past July and the Breakaway this past October. My response to your question would depend on when you are thinking of going. I love Celebrity and I love the Summit. She has a great crew, is very elegant, has a quieter, more subdued atmosphere and not many kids. The Breakaway is newer, larger and has a lot of bells and whistles you won't find on the Summit, like multiple dining venues, water slides, ice bar, and outdoor dining on the promenade. They are both beautiful ships in their own right, but have a very different vibe. We enjoyed both of them for different reasons. I wouldn't hesitate to sail the Summit any time of year, however I wouldn't choose the Breakaway when kids are out of school as I can see how it could get very crowded. I think that is why it has gotten some not so good reviews.

  6. I can't answer your question about the overhang but I would caution you that most of the AQ cabins on deck 9 are under the pool or buffet area. If noise would bother you this may be an issue for the cabins on that deck. There are the new AQ cabins that were added up on deck 11.

  7. When we were on the Allure in October there were reserved seats at the AquaTheater for suite passengers and Diamond Plus. They were roped off until ten minutes before the show began and then opened up for anyone. I know Diamond Plus was included because we showed our cards and were allowed to sit there. I thought this was a fabulous D+ perk. It was actually the last two rows of beach style chairs in the center section.

  8. I was on the Constellation this past August in the Baltics and had a corner FV. Love those cabins for the balcony, but our bathroom was seriously in need of a good scrubbing as seen in the pictures above. Booked it because I had my adult children with me in 2 balcony cabins so I thought it would be a great place to meet, but we didn't end up using it as much as I thought we would as our cruise was pretty port intensive.

  9. Would this be true even with the older Celebrity Passages that could not be combined?

Also do you know if you can use the one category upgrade, passage, and also the 123 promo?

    Thanks.

I just booked a cruise for January 2015, used a Passages Certificate to get the OBC, got the 1 category upgrade and the Beverage Package. Hopefully they won't change their minds and take anything away.

  10. EC is nothing more than Economy with extra pitch.

There is no equipment box at 10 because there is no seat in front of you at 10. Row 11 starts off the seats which have a row in front, and thus the equipment boxes. ALL ECONOMY that are not bulkhead have the AVOD boxes in front of the window and middle seats. Just like it says.

Providing accurate information = being helpful. At least in my book.

Not being a frequent flier I was not sure how to interpret the information I was able to find on SeatGuru, FlyerTalk, TripAdvisor, etc. Thank you for taking the time to clarify this for me. It is much appreciated.

  11. FlyerTalker, Actually I did read that information, but I was unsure if it specifically applied to the EC seats as the other links posted above only referred to the equipment boxes being in row 11 of the EC section.

I was hoping someone here might have first hand experience and be willing to share it. Isn't that what this forum is for?

If you were trying to be rude, then you were successful.

Thanks to everyone who actually tried to be helpful.

  12. Well, because I have gone to seatguru and found this sort of info. It is commonly discussed when the boxes are under seats and restrict leg room.

I have also gone there many times myself, as I did this time. Hence, why I said in my original post "I have done extensive research". However, for this particular aircraft it shows nothing for any of the EC seats.

  13. The Delta board on Flyertalk has an extensive thread on information gathered from many DL flyers. Try looking here.

    Specifically on the A330-200:

    "A330-200 - International:

    EC is in rows 10-13

Legroom: Row 10 and row 11 C/G have ample legroom.

IFE: These a/c are equipped with IFE at each seat.

    Related Threads and Posts:

c_d's pictures of 11D and 11F and the entertainment boxes that impede legroom - LINK; comments on 11D and 11F: - LINK

CarmenOM's comments on 11C and 11G, which have excellent leg room and row 10. Also row 11 has moveable armrests across the row - LINK "

Thank you Shorex. I did see this but was a bit confused because the posting about 11D and 11F relates to the 330-2 but the one regarding 10J and 11J relates to the 330-3 so I am unsure if 10J and 11J are bad choices on the 330-2 or only the 330-3.

  14. If you go to seatguru.com and do some research, you will likely find this info.

I did go there, but it doesn't provide this information. That is why I am asking for the information from frequent Delta fliers hoping for some first hand information.

Why do people always assume we come here asking questions without doing the proper research before hand?

  15. Flying BOS to AMS on Delta A330-200 and want to upgrade to EC seating. I have done extensive research, understand the product, and don't expect a first class experience, but my husband is over 6 feel tall and I think it would make it more comfortable for him. My question is, I have read comments on various sights that certain seats have obstructions under the seats in front of them hampering your ability to stretch your legs out in front of you. I am not sure however if they apply to this specific aircraft or not. If you have any personal experience of certain EC seats to avoid or any you would recommend on this specific aircraft could you please advise. Thanks.

  16. Are you talking about the Liberty of the Seas? If so, I agree with you wholeheartedly. We have sailed her 4 times previously, twice with Mario as Concierge and twice with Oana and both were wonderful. We are Diamond Plus and also sometimes sail in suites, sometimes in balconies. This past month happened to be in a balcony. The CL was never crowded but the Concierge never got up from his desk and mingled with the guests. We were lucky if he even said hello as we walked in the door. He didn't seem to want to have any interaction with the D+ members. I actually heard him refer one D+ member to the Diamond concierge for assistance. He was only handling the suite guests.

  17. We agree 100% with you about Oana and we always book our times on the Liberty when she is there.

Just off Liberty. I couldn't agree with you more. We missed Oana. I think you get spoiled by how some of the concierges treat their passengers and then are disappointed by others. Wasn't impressed by either the CL concierge or the D concierge. Just personal preference.

  18. Got an email from Oana yesterday. Her info is that Mario will return to SR after his vacation. Now, we all know that CruiseCritic folk always know things before shipboard people.

    Que sera, sera.

Not sure where Oana got her information, but Mario told me via facebook chat last week that he had just gotten notified that he was going to the Explorer when he returns in April.
