  1. While we know from other embarkation ports, that we can board the ship from noon and not only from the mentioned time in the cruise ticket, which is mostly from 2 p.m. Our next cruise is startimg from Tower bridge. Is it also possible there to board at noon? I am asking that, because they use tender boats from the terminal.

  2. While we are well experienced with Silversea, we never had booked a cruise on the SPIRIT so far. When looking on their website, the main restaurant does not show tables for two on their video. Are there those just for two? What is your experience of the Spirit compared to Whisper or Shadow? Thank you for your tips to make a decision.

  3. Received today a small silver box with a one page print out reading "your cruise ticket" and another page with pre-cruise information. The booklet "Travel Journal" was also included and printed luggage labels. There were also new luggage tags with a steel wire made quite nicely.

  4. We were just informed by our TA that our October cruise will end in Athens instead of Istanbul. A costly change, as we booked our flight tickets in advance and cannot change the routing.

  5. So what is the compensation for getting to stay in historic Charleston vs. going to the backwater of Morehead City?

The ship was cleared to sail. Therefore the captain told, that no one can leave the ship. So it was not a comparison to stay in Charleston vs. Morehead City, but to stay on the ship in port vs. a new port of call.

  6. At the scheduled departure time in Charleston we were told due to engine problems we will stay overnight in Charleston and the next day port of call is canceled. The next day we left in the morning. Are there any experiences with compensations for this in general? I remember here was a thread that for the late night Panama Canal transit was a compensation given for thise who asked.

  7. What a great post. Thank you. We have booked this cruise for January 2016 and look forward alreday now.

How is the transfer from Valparaiso to Santiago, bus, time needed, organised by the ship? Did you book the hotel in Santiago through Seabourn?

  8. A number of posts/reviews have suggested that the ship itself is in rather shabby condition and is in need of work in a dry dock.

Do you have some impressions of the condition of the ship.

You said that you had done this itinerary previously. On Silversea? Etc.

    Thanks.

Being on board the Shadow just now, I have to say the ship is in perfect condition, also compared to the many Silversea Cruises we had in the past. Service and food are just great!

  9. On our upcoming cruise to Alaska the train transfer to Anchorage is included. Is that a train/car just for the passengers of Silversea? Is it Adventure Class on the train? Will we get assigned seats? Any details about that ride are welcome. Thanks in advance.

  10. We have been on this cruise this year. Despite of the weather it was a fantastic cruise and we have been never disappointed by Silverseas. We like crossings and know that weather can be an issue, but on this cruise we were not affected personally at all. Food was great, although I admit, that Food is more of personal taste.

  11. Thank you very much for the info. Very much appreciated. I have just learned that our flight back to Europe will leave at 09.30 h a.m. Therefore after leaving the ship we probably will take a transfer from Yokohama directly to Narita and stay at a hotel at the airport to be on site in the early morning.

I am living in Yokohama, so I will tell you my opinion...

If your depature time of your flight before noon, you may stay a night in Yokohama, Tokyo or Narita.

How to get to Narita Express (90min) from Yokohama Station

    - Limousine Bus : (90-120min) from YCAT (near Yokohama Station)

    Time Table of Limousine (http://www.ycat.co.jp/bus/narita%20e.htm)

If you carry heavy/some baggages, I recommend to take Limousine. It takes you directly in the front of Depature Entrance at airport. When you take train, you need to carry them and take walk in the station and from station to airport.

If you stay in Yokohama, Limousine picks you up at some hotels. or you can take a taxi to go to YCAT or Station. (about $15USD from port to YCAT/Yokohama Station)

If you want to stay in Tokyo, it takes 30min by train from Tokyo. But you shouldn't take it in RUSH HOUR!! It must be terrible. You want to take taxi? I don't think it is good idea, because t takes more than US$200.

If you have any question, please let me know. I will try to answer to help you.

  12. We will be on the SHADOW with Yokohama as debarkation port in May 2009. How far is it from Yokohama to Tokyo's Narita airport. Flights back to Europe start normally before noon. Is it feasable the same day or should we plan an extra night in Tokyo?

    Thank you for opinions.
