Has anyone booked a future cruise while on board? We are going to be on summit this October and are thinking of doing Hawaii on Edge next September and wondered if there is any advantage to wait to book then?

Another consideration on this topic is the pre-existing waiver on travel insurance. We paid the $200 for Future Cruise benefit and received a confirmation number at that time. It never occurred to us that the date we paid this became the booking date even though we had no cruise itinerary, nor dates defined. Now that we turned the booking into a real itinerary, the insurance company won't allow the waiver since the policy wasn't purchased within 14 days of the "initial" payment. At this stage we wish we had never signed up for this and we never will again!

During our recent cruise aboard Silhouette, the cruise-bug bit us and we wanted more. Unable to decide on a specific next cruise to book, however, we opted late on the last full day to use Celebrity's "Cruise Later" deal. Thus, we plunked down the requisite C-note per person and received a slip of paper with a confirmation number.

My bride doesn't care about the 365-days-to-choose aspect and, less than a week off the ship, she wants to book our next cruise now. 🤣

Unfortunately, we can't seem to book it online, which we'd prefer to do. It shows up there under "future cruises" or something, but clicking the link delivers an error message of some sort. Do we really need to call Celebrity to use this thing? We didn't use a travel agent the first time, either, and don't wish to now.

Also, first-cruise euphoria subsiding, I now note the slip of paper we received onboard says: "IMPORTANT: To secure your exclusive offer, please remember to complete your booking within 90 DAYS by contacting..." What exclusive offer? Don't we have 365 days to take advantage of this deal? Is there some additional benefit to booking within the first few months?

Sorry for my caveat-emptor failing and so many questions. Any help/insights will be sincerely appreciated!

A travel agent costs you nothing and they can take care of issues like this for you. We didn't use a TA for many years but we started again just before Covid and ours has been invaluable!

The Future Cruise benefit depends on the offer available, in my experience. While on our last cruise (March-April 2023), we plunked down $100 per person and have six months to book our next one. We figured there would be new Celebrity cruises available during that time, and the OBC offered -- combined with any other current offer -- makes this option worthwhile to us. Moreover, there's no downside if we don't book in time; Celebrity just refunds our deposit.

As long as you know you want to book another Celebrity cruise down the road, and the benefits remain advantageous vs. what's otherwise available, this seems like a great deal. What fluctuates, based on our past two cruises, is the OBC and the amount of time you have to book your next cruise. Definitely something to watch.

Thank you for the helpful response.  One month and we will be on board her.  🥰

We have been researching the same question. Would you mind advising please about the balcony size in the A1 Concierge cabins on the Vista.

We hope that you enjoyed your cruise!

    Thanks!

  5. Never cruised with Viking previously (but many times with Celebrity, Oceania, Azamara and Regent). Would really like to try them but we are not gullible enough to provide interest-free loans to them! For a cruise in February 2025 they are demanding full payment in December 2023 - ridiculous! Our TA asked about this and was told there are no exceptions........

Oceania must be very happy with Viking's practice. We're booking Vista instead of Mars.

That's very nice of you - thanks! We've just sent them a request and look forward to receiving their response.

Thanks again for this excellent recommendation! We had booked with friend-in-france and were promptly met by Jean yesterday who took us on a nice tour of Monte Carlo before driving us to Nice airport. He was very helpful and an excellent driver and couldn't be nicer. We will definitely use this company again.

I will be cruising to Australia and New Zealand in Jan of 2024. How far in advance should I apply for the etas? How long are they good for?

    Thanks

    Roseanna

They are both valid for one year so don't apply too soon! Our Oz ones were immediate. NZ ones took 24 hours.

  8. Please be considerate neighbors and do not let your cabin doors bang. I know they are heavy but it only takes a moment to hold the door and close it quietly. It ‘s startling to have the whole wall and bed shaking upon entering and exiting. 😲 Some of us need our sleep!

  9. Hi fellow cruisers! We saw this unusual itinerary while on our current cruise (on the Reflection, just about to dock in Aruba) and decided to book it. We will tour Ireland for a couple of weeks after the cruise and then fly back to DC from Dublin. Really like the idea of no overnight flights to Ireland and traveling in comfort.
