  1. Thanks for the reply! Was there a lot for your children to do on board? We've never sailed on NCL. We've always sailed on Princess and Carnival.

This was our first NCL cruise too and I couldn't believe how much we really enjoyed it. We have sailed DCL and RCCL before. Our four year old begged to go to Splash Academy, and our 13 year old spend a lot of time hanging out with kids he met in the Teen Club. Unfortunately, it was cold, windy, and rainy for a big part of the trip, that they didn't go into the pool.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  2. We were just on the Jade with our two children ages 4 and 13. We stayed in a Mini-Suite and for us it was worth the upgrade. We loved the privacy curtain and the bathroom. The bathroom is huge, for a cruise ship, and has a bathtub. I also thought there was a lot of storage space in the cabin. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is only a pullout sofa, which the kids had to share. This wasn't a problem for us, but it is good to know, just in case.

We stayed in cabin 11060 which was midship and quiet.

  3. My family had wanted to do that itinerary as well but the cabin situation has also kept us from it. Check out RCCL Med itineraries. All cabin types available for 4.

I looked at the RCCL Med cruises and there was only one that I really liked, but it was more expensive and didn't include drinks. DH and I like our pre-dinner drinks and wine with dinner, which really adds up on a 10+day cruise.

  4. Looking to book a balcony cabin for my family of four and it looks like the only rooms for four are inside or oceanview? And the only connecting rooms are balconies or suites? I would book a balcony and an inside, but don't feel comfortable with my 5 year old sleeping across the hall with her 14 year old brother.

Why do they make the smallest cabins on board for four and not connecting? I am missing something?

  5. We are going on our 5th cruise next month and we have never done a ship excursion.

I always read TA reviews and look on CC for recommendations, email the tour guide, and decide who I want to book with. Every tour I have ever taken make sure they will have you back before the shop sails. ( A bad review or not getting you back one time would kill their business.)

I also feel that you can see so much more on a private, or smaller tour. You don't have to wait for 40+ people to use the bathroom or get on the bus.

  6. If your DC will eat off the kids menu, then I don't think there is anything wrong with giving them a few bites from your plate.

We are cruising with DS 13 and DD 4. We bought DS a meal package since he hasn't eaten off a children's menu since he was about 7. DD will eat off the kid's menu. She also eats like a bird and will most likely live off mac and cheese and ice cream for the entire 14 nights of the cruise. :)

  7. We go to dinner as a family. Our 4 year old eats dinner, then DH takes her to the Kid's Club. Our 13 year eats dinner, orders dessert, then leaves and meets friends or goes to the Teen Club. DH and I linger over dessert, wine, and coffee. Then we head to pick up DD.

We bought DS a dining package, but DD will order of the Kid's menu, and will most likely eat Mac and Cheese every night.

  8. Good morning!!!

Fun review. I am so happy to see the Fruit Loops from the US. The Fruit Loops we get in Europe just aren't the same and my kids live on them during cruises, so I am hoping they will be available to the Jade this summer. My #1 rule is when on holiday you can eat and drink whatever you want! ;)

  9. Yes you can make reservations and then purchase the plan later.

However, remember that you will be charged for some restaurants (like Moderno and Teppenyaki) when you book unless you have purchased the plan before you make the booking.

So, if you are going to book one of those then including your 4 year old would involve having to make payment and then get a credit back when you eat. I have never done that, but I know people have. It strikes me as something that has the potential to be a problem.

As long as the person making the reservation has the plan then nobody will be charged, so it is fine for you to purchase 3 packages and make reservations for 4.

One final thing to remember is that the SDP is $10 more expensive if purchased onboard, so if you are going to buy it then it's best to decide before the cut off for purchasing online, a few days before sailing.

Perfect! Thank you. I think I will purchase for 3 and make reservations for 4. Now I have to decide on how many days to purchase.

  10. Can someone walk me through booking dining reservations?

I have not decided if we are going to purchase the SDP. Can I make reservations and then purchase the plan later?

I would be making reservations for four, but my 4 year old would be eating off the kid's menu. Is it best to purchase the package before or after making reservations?

And how does that work when I only purchase(if I decide) 3 SDP packages, and making a reservation for 4.

    Thanks
