I wasn't sure exactly when it was held because on our one and only previous Regent cruise, we did not join the cruise until the cruise was about half over. Since this was a second segment, very few of our neighbors joined the party which was disappointing for us.

Does Regent still have Block Parties the first night at sea?

When we went to Brazil a couple of years ago, there was no yellow fever at that time. A shot was not required until you were coming from a country that was dealing with yellow fever. We were advised by a local travel nurse not to get the shot because of our age (late 70s). We received waivers. I believe her more than I would my personal physician since that is the primary job of this particular nurse. She deals with these issues all the time.

We've been cruising for over twenty years on several different lines and until I ran across this thread, I'de never heard of "Friends of Dorothy" Who was Dorothy by the way?

I never take my rings off except at home. I would bet that more rings are lost because someone took them off to wash their hands than because someone was robbed or mugged. I did buy a simple gold band to wear if we are going somewhere dicey.
On our last cruise, I was waiting for the shuttle which was taking passengers out of the port area. A woman told me that while her husband was waiting, someone ripped his gold necklace right off his neck. Fortunately, the robber dropped it and the owner was able to recover it.
I would have thought that would have been a "safe" area.

Who was "Dorothy"

I cannot imagine having the Butler unpack. As it is, I have a hard time remembering where I put things!

I'm surprised that no one has suggested that this is a "space" issue. I don't means space in the program. I mean actual physical space. If too many venues are "off limits" to passengers as a whole, then people complain. It is possible that those groups which are allowed meetings, are "group" bookings.

Ask yourself, "would I wear this is London, Paris or New York City?

The person asking the question is going to directly to the airport. If someone is reading this who is planning to go to a hotel in Istanbul, (not through Regent} my advise is book a transfer. We had been to Istanbul several times and did not book a private transfer.
We did not think we needed one. Neither did our travel agent. As it happened this last time, another cruise ship was in port. It was also raining. It was chaos! My porter was unable to find us a taxi to take us to a city hotel. They only wanted to take people to the airport. Finally we walked out of the port area to a taxi stand a short way from the gate. I gave him a large tip. My husband was not with me as he was taken to the hospital for an MRI. Fortunately, he was OK was able to join me at the hotel.

I don't understand why the fashion industry refers to pants or jeans at the natural waist as "high waist". High waist pants are those above the natural waistline. Pants at the waist should have always been called "Natural Waist" pants. I'm glad they are back. No more muffin top!

European men do not wear shorts in Major cities like Venice and Rome. In churches both knees and shoulders need to be covered. I believe that goes for both men and woman.

I enjoyed seeing Cappadocia very much. We did not visit the underground city. My husband is a Big guy. It was recommended that he not attempt to visit it because he would have to be bent over much of the time.

I also am not overweight, but have the dreaded tummy bump. I have several dresses where the fabric is gathered at the bust and then falls straight down. All one sees is the fabric and not the bump. I think it only works with jersey fabric. I can't give you a brand because I've had the dresses for several years. You have to keep your eyes open for that look.

We haven't been on a HAL ship since 2011. The cabin stewards have to service more cabins. You formerly could get espresso or cappuccino at dinner without paying extra. (I know one should only drink cappuccino until 11:00, but my husband likes it)

I like Lancôme Flash Bronzer. I find it lasts for a week or so.

My fashion peeve is people dressing like they are at the beach or going to Disneyland when they are in a cosmopolitain setting. Nothing says "I'm a toorist" than a sundress or shorts (or the dreaded capris) with a tank top in the middle of Rome, Florence, Paris, London, Barcelona…The locals seem to survive just fine in long pants in the summer, why can you???
I agree

According to Barrons, they expect that Carnival and either Celebrity or Norwegian (I don't remember which) stock to start climbing in the near future. There are also more new ships in the pipeline. The new ships being built to appeal to families. (When our kids were young, we couldn't afford to bring them with us.)

The only time that my husband and I need more than one large suitcase and a carry on is on a 35 day cruise. He has no trouble including his tuxedo in his large suitcase. He doesn't bring "special" black shoes, but wears his black loafers. I doubt anyone notices. I never bring heavy dresses such as beaded ones. I was even chosen to appear in a promotional video wearing a short cocktail dress. I agree that using the charge for additional suitcases is a cop out.
I also agree that people do not care to dress as formally as in prior days. When we first joined our country club, New Year's Eve was black tie optional. Now the only time a jacket and tie is required is the Tennis Club Christmas party.

My wedding and engagement rings became too tight (from housework not weight gain) so that I could not remove them without using soap. I became concerned that if I went to the city and someone tried to rob me they might cut off or injure my finger. In addition, the band was becoming thin. I took them to a local jeweler. He showed me his designs. I chose one which he cast in wax to make sure it was right. It is a wide rather than narrow band. The large stone is in the middle with pave diamonds at an angle on one side and curved on the other side. It is a rather contemporary look. This was done over 25 years ago. I still get complements on the ring. I've never seen another one like it.

I love people watching. But there are some serious crimes against fashion taking place everywhere. Don't get me wrong here, I can recognise good style on any age, but some people don't have a mirror in their home before they go out.
What's the worst fashion disaster you have seen worthy of a visit from Fashion Police? I'm afraid my pet hate is socks and sandals on men!
People with diabetes should not wear shoes without socks even sandals. What else would one where except sandals when going to the beach or pool.

Thanks Dave and TravelCat
We knew we could "dress up", but don't do the tuxedo and gown thing unless it is a scheduled formal night

How long must cruises be in order to have "Black Tie" optional nights? My DH and I love to dress up.
laundry question
in Regent Seven Seas Cruises
Posted
I use the laundry for underwear, my husband's shirts, cotton khaki pants, socks, etc. I do not send bras, anything that says "hang to dry" or tumble dry low. That all can wait until we arrive home except for bras and nightgowns which can hang over the bathtub or in the shower. I don't remember, but I may have used the self service laundry when we were on a 35 day cruise.
