  1. We were allowed pre booking for dining for our cruise next April and were able to include another couple although they were not pre-selected. We called together, linked reservation numbers and made dinner reservations for all 12 nights. Two were extra fee restaurants and the others were complimentary restaurants and all for 7 pm.

We hope the 7 pm reservations will allow us to go to the late shows. We're a little annoyed at having to preplan all nights but we didn't want to chance 'freestyle' type dining, and we did have my-time dining prior to this change. We've cruised NCL with freestyle many times and love it for small tables but we're not sure how this new plan will work for RCL so we felt better making reservations... Who knows? We'll see!

when i booked my dinner reservations, i asked about this and was told that show times would likely stick to the RCCL "norm." i looked back and saw in an old email that we had had reservations for a 9pm show of Chicago on Allure 3 years ago, so i made my 6:30-6:45 reservations with a 9pm timeframe as a "late show" in mind.

  2. One bad meal hardly qualifies as a "disaster". There are options that don't require a "rez" and you could always grab something there.

i didnt mean one bad meal was a disaster. i just meant, if you eat in one restaurant, dont like the food, want to switch, but cant .... and multiply that by 4000 passengers. thats the (logistical) disaster.

and personally, i'm not paying all this money to eat dinner from a hot dog truck, you know? my family and i really appreciate the traditional dining arrangement. we like that the waiters and sommeliers know to have a coke for MH, a milk for DD, a martini for my dad, and 2 wine glasses for me and my mom on the table before we arrive for dinner. when we booked quantum last June, i dont think dynamic dining had been announced yet.

we're going to give it the old college try and roll with it. if we dont like it, we dont do it again. there you go.

  3. i didn't even do the math but it totally makes sense. i'm also concerned that what if we have a rez in one restaurant that we already ate in, but it turns out we don't like it. then we're on board and everything has already been booked so now what? we're forced to eat off the same bad menu? this whole switch has disaster written all over it.

  4. if we're talking about taking advantage of the $100 credit, then it most definitely expired. even courtesy credits are only good for one year from original sail date. its prob even long gone from their system.

and if you're talking about seeking retribution for something that happened 8 years ago ... um, good luck with that. as awesome as RCI can be, they aren't THAT awesome...no one is. bottom line: if you were that unhappy the first time around, no one held a gun to your head to come back for more.

  5. I can reply with opinions on both sides of the coin. We were on the Allure with our 2.5 yo daughter and we stayed in a Grand Suite.

MH and I were able to enjoy the CL cocktail hour once, since that was the only night we could escape without DD (leaving her with the grandparents). I really enjoyed that one evening and wish I could have enjoyed more. My daughter is very quiet and well behaved, and frankly...I paid for her to be the suite with us and I sure as hell should have been able to get a her a few apps and hors d'oerves that come with her paying to be in the suite with us.

Seeing as how we were usually in line behind abut 40 adults for most character meet-and-greets, the least they can do is give children preference in these situations, just as they give adults a certain preference by choosing to not allow kids into the CL.
