OMG I don't know how I missed your thread probably I was focused on our Adventure cruise but now I can't get enough of everything about Allure. Again OMG your pictures are the best I have ever seen. Thanks:)

We did this tour two weeks ago and loved it. We are not swimmers so we weren't interested in anything that involved snorkelling. We both felt this tour gave us a good feel for the island and we were not rushed at any of our stops. The price of this tour was about half of what the ship was charging for equivalent tours.
Thanks for your positive review I look forward to taking this tour. Was the tour operator on time also where did you meet and was it easy to find? Thanks again.

I emailed them and got an immediate response from Sweeny, actually Andre who must be by the computer all the time now. I would like to hear from someone who has taken the Safari Tour for cruisers to let me know how much fun it was. We are seniors in our 60's who are not up to a day of snorkeling so are looking for other options.
I got a quick response also and have a reservation for Feb 18th. We are also seniors and not interested in snorkeling or beaching all day. If he doesn't show up I guess we will just wing it.

I just submitted two bids on Priceline. One for a 3-night pre-cruise stay in late January 2012. I bid $110/night for 'Resort' level in San Juan (hoping to get Marriott Stellaris) which was rejected but was offered an immediate re-bid if I would agree to up my bid to $140/night. I did so and ended up getting 3 nights at the Intercontinental (which I know nothing about). I see, however, that pghflyer above did much better than me.
I used priceline for the first time and won the Marriott Stellaris for this past February and loved it. We will be cruising again next February so I was hoping for the Marriott again but was a little disappointed to get the Intercontinetal for $125. After some research here on CC I think I will be pleasantly surprised and I am now actually looking forward to staying there.

Anyone know when Airtran will open up flight schedule for February? I've been trying to get a reasonable:confused: fare from DTW to SJU. Not happening yet.

ok,
I think this should work!
Thanks Canuck38 for scanning them!
Let me know if there are any problems...I'm not sure how to convert them into an image file, so they are pdf files. They were just a little bit too big to upload on cruise critic!
Hope this works!!
thanks again,
Meg
Thanks so much...now I have 326 days to read them.:( The anticipation will be fun.

Canuck38, thank you. I agree. My daughter has downloaded them to her computer and is in the process of figuring out the best way to post them. She hopes to have them up this evening.
Thanks also for the info on the Crown and Anchor party.
Reg
I'll be waiting.:)

Even if it will be a non ocean view it saved us over $ 400.00
I have read on this thread that you can upgrade to a ocean view room for $25 a night. We will give it a try in January.

We rented from Nathan when we were there in 2009. We are a couple of seniors and I was a little leary but DH thought it sounded like fun. When we got to the taxi stand we weren't sure where to go so we asked a fellow there hailing cabs. It seems everyone there knows Nathan and he also has a taxi business. We walked out across the parking lot and there was our cart waiting for us. Nathan was busy with his taxi and a couple of young guys were there. We drove the cart to the lighthouse and on the way there we were chased by a dog:eek:, saw horses and cows roaming the street. Got lost and some nice fellow showed us the way to the lighthouse. It was a lot of fun. When we got back we went in the little shops at the port and hung out by the Margaritaville pool. It was a great experience.

Reserved for Gold Sea Pass Card (Suites)
.
Does a JS qualify for a Gold Sea Pass card and access to these loungers?

does anyone book a hotel room directly anymore?
I usually do but this time the regular rates of the resort hotels was just not in my budget. I am sort of a control freak but decided to use Priceline for the first time only after reading all the good advice here on CC. I did have that feeling of dread while I waited for my bid to be accepted but I got excatly what I was hoping for.

Date: 01/27/2011 - 01/30/2011
# of nights: 3 (pre cruise)
Hotel: Marriott Stellaris Resort and Casino
Area: San Juan, PR
Site: Priceline
Winning bid: $111/night
To request a bed size and a specific room should I call now or wait until closer to the reservation date?
When you get this hotel through Priceline will the hotel also charge a resort fee?
Should we get a rental car?
-
I went back to the Doubletree web site and found that they have a tremendous offer for seniors. If you are 62+ years old they had a cancelable reservation for just $96.85 plus $24.55 tax for a grand total of $121.40. In this case there is no need to get a deal through either Priceline or Hotwire.
Where is the Doubletree and what can you tell me about it? Rating, whats near, etc. Thanks.
Does it seem people are winning the Marriott for multiple nights rather than for a one night stay? I may get up enough courage to bid later today for our 3 night stay for January..

Do any of the "resort" hotels have any shopping, CVS, Walgreens, grocery store or fast food restaurants:eek: within walking distance?
If trying for the Marriott Stellaris should I request San Juan and Condado?

Yikes......and on voyager class ships, don't book the cabins UNDER the royal suite due to the marble floor in there, the piano that can be loud and the stereo.....(if you aren't a light sleeper it might be ok, or if you aren't a big cabin dweller. I am NOT a light sleeper and it was a MAJOR issue!)
Thank you, thank you for this info. I was a little bummed that the JS hump cabin deck 9 on AOS was booked already for our Jan 2011 cruise. I settled for a JS down the hall a bit. Now I can see that the one I wanted was under the Royal Suite and I would not have even thought about a marble floor or piano playing. I probably would have called every few weeks to see if it was available but now I won't have to. Thanks again:).

Two things I was really glad I brought were the soap dish and toothbrush holder with suction cups to attach to the mirror. Kept the counter tidy. Check the dollar stores.

I also collect Christmas ornaments. I try to pick one up in every port & on every ship. I have an ornament of every RCI ship I have been on. However, I could not find one when I was on the Golden last January. I would love to find one on the CB. The sales clerk acted like he never heard of Christmas ornaments of the ship. Does Princess even have these?
I had the same experience with a sales clerk on our recent Crown cruise when I inquired about a Christmas ornament. I ended up getting a ceramic ship magnet that I will make in to a Christmas ornament by glueing it to what ever I can find at Michaels and adding a gold cord.

I just saw where Bud said he couldn't hear announcements. I believe Bud never found the volume control knob for that! It's on the left side of the mirror.
When we did wine flights on the Freedom last year, they asked people not to smoke until the seminar was over. I never saw that posted on Liberty, so we skipped the tastings this year. They probably lost around 400 bucks on us due to the unusually smoky conditions in the bars.
Sailed on Liberty 2-9, did I miss a vlume control knob on the left side of the mirror? There was one on the right side but it only controlled some music. I had to open the door to hear announcements.

Just back from Liberty 2-16. She is one beautiful ship and so much to do. The plug in the bathroom was above the mirror, not a regular plug and it said it was from shavers only. I didn't try to plug in my curling iron or blow dryer. I brought a 3 plug adapter for the vanity area. There are 2 plugs on one side of the vanity and 1 on the other side.
