We are on the Royal this fall, with Istanbul as one of our stops.

I don't understand the decision by Princess to still stop there. How many bombings does it take to decide it is unsafe? If Turkey cannot protect their military personnel (killed in the latest bombing), how in the world can Princess assure the safety of their passengers?

I hate to miss out on seeing the sites in Istanbul, but at this point we are planning to stay on the ship.

We usually bring bottled water on board (at least that's what we did on all our Carnival Cruises), but will have the drink package on our first Princess Cruise this September (so may not need to carry water on board).

I know water should be water, but some bottled water I like, and some I don't. Just wondered if by any chance the brand on board is Dasani (my preferred brand).

I'm not a heavy drinker, but will have a couple beers during the day, a couple of glasses of wine with dinner and a specialty (frozen) drink or two in the evening.

Do you think the package would make sense for me? Also, in the dinning room and steak house restaurant, are there many decent options for wine by the glass (included in the package)?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my question about price reductions after the final payment was made. We are also past the final payment due date.

I called Princess today and just asked about price reductions we had seen online. I said I gathered we didn't qualify since we were past the final payment due date. She said no, we might still qualify... and almost immediately were processing a $300 refund for us!! She mentioned that if they still have availability on the cruise, they can re-fare the booking! Turns out on this sailing there is availability, so voila!!

Now I can go snorkeling with the sea turtles and not worry about how expensive the excursion is!!

First cruise with Princess. So far I'm impressed!

Booked on my first Princess Cruise this September. We've made our final payment and have noticed a recent price drop. Is there any point in calling? Or do OBC's and price drops only work prior to final payment?

I mean, good lord, next we will be hearing that its childish and "I just don't get" the need for stupid towel animals left all over my bed each night. :eek: Not to mention that some room stewards, have, *gasp*, put our sunglasses on a towel animal. "Some sort of joke or cutesy thing I guess... I just don't get it." *sigh*

Its called a sense of humour people!! Its fun, cute, and makes us laugh! If you don't get this, I don't want to share a table with you in the MDR! :rolleyes:
