  1. I first complained about a yappy little dog that ruined a lot of people’s cruise in March, 2012. Shows were disrupted, people were kept awake by the barking when he was left alone, people at his table were disgusted when he sat in the owners lap and ate off the plate in the MDR, etc. That thread ran 20 pages. 6 years later it’s still an issue. I don’t know how it will be resolved. I suppose it will take a lawsuit or two by someone who gets bitten by one of these animals.

  2. Is this too much to ask royal Caribbean, I DONT THINK SO

Emotional Support Animal Policy effective on July 1, 2018.

Following are some of the highlights of the policy changes:

    • Customers will submit documentation at least 48 hours before travel.
    • JetBlue must be notified of emotional support animal travel and receive documentation no less than 48 hours prior to departure
    • Three forms of documentation will now be required:
      • Veterinary Health Form
      • Medical/Mental Health Professional Form
      • Confirmation of Animal Behavior Form

    • Each customer will only be allowed to travel with one Emotional Support Animal
    • Acceptable emotional support and psychiatric service animals are limited to dogs, cats, and miniature horses
    • Customers that have indicated they are traveling with an Emotional Support Animal will be sent an email with instructions on submitting documentation.

Perfect. Would solve a lot of problems.

  3. I agree with Cruisegirl1 and host Clarea. I would paraphrase “take paradise, and put up a water park”. My family doesn’t pay big $$ to fly or drive to Florida, from the Midwest, to go on a cruise with a large, fresh water pool water park. We want a quiet salt water beach experience. We can get the Wisconsin Dells anytime we want. I personally like the tender ride, but I realize the sea sometimes gets in the way. I can deal with the pier. Thankfully we can get our beach experience with other cruise lines

  4. Can’t believe it. We came back from a cruise and I posted a complaint about a “yappy little princess dog” on March 29, 2012 that disrupted the cruise for so many people it was unbelievable. Sorry Raiphie ( I later learned his name) the way you were dressed while riding in your little stroller with the bows in your hair, jumped to conclusions. Should have been yappy little prince dog. You would think by now, six years later, this would be a non-issue. As a few people have stated, it will take something serious, like a toddler being mauled by a large dog, to see any changes made. Pity

  5. Is luggage valet offered for Explorer of the Seas in the Port of Seattle? Actually, is there even a list of all the ports that have luggage valet. It would make planning so much easier. I’m hoping to spend some time in Seattle sans luggage before my flight. Can it be done?

  6. I’ve often wondered . . . If they can throw guests who misbehave in the “brig”, do they have a kennel/“brig” for furry passengers who break the rules? If smokers can be fined and charged a fee for extra cleaning, can dog owners be fined for extra clean up services when they pick their own deck to poop on?

  7. Sounds like the elevator was broken for a few weeks. Hopefully, it is fixed now. It can be frustrating when you watch what appear to be able bodied people push to get in front of someone with an obvious handicapping condition to make sure “they” get on the elevator. Courtesy is dwindling. As to the food, yes it has gone downhill. If a person tells you they are D+, maybe they’re trying to tell you that they’re drawing on experience. In my 17 years of cruising I have noticed the main dining room go from a fine dining experience to cheap, wedding banquet food at best. Now you have to pay more if you want that fine dining experience.

There is no excuse for Royal to allow people to reserve pool loungers. Staff should police this better. I have, in general, watched the decline in this cruise line over the years. Yes, I am D+. That means I am an experienced Royal cruiser. In my humble opinion, Royal has become the Wal-Mart of cruise lines. My last royal cruise was “Royal Princess”. I am now cruising RCI for itinerary only. I genuinely prefer Princess. Not only for the menu and food quality, but also for the way they treat you. For those of you who are dissatisfied, I would highly recommend giving other cruise lines a try.

  8. I just realized something. When I first started cruising, Labadee was my favorite beach break. Then royal built bungalows, added all kinds of other stuff, and I no longer had a desire to go there. I tried it once, and it had changed so much, it was no longer enjoyable. I avoid wasting my time on cruises going there. Found Coco Cay and fell in love with it. I looked for cruises going there. Went on a Princess cruise for the ten day itinerary and enjoyed Princess Cay. Coco Cay remained my favorite. Now with all the changes coming, I will be avoiding cruises to Coco Cay. (I’d rather go to a port than waste my time on another “ship/sea” day.) That limited my royal cruises choices. My realization, if I want a nice beach day, I need to book with Princess. I may be booking more and more with them to get the experience I want. I was just at Princess Cay in December (again), and found it to be as enjoyable as the soon to be “old” Coco Cay.

  9. I’ve often wondered what the CDC would say about dogs being allowed to eat off of plates while sitting in their owners laps. How do you pass health inspections when untrained pets posing as service or emotional support animals eliminate bodily waste on the deck, carpeting,or elsewhere than the designated areas? A quick crew member clean up can’t really sanitize the area. What liability does the cruise line assume if someone is bitten/harmed by a dog? For arguments sake, would they turn down an emotional support pit bull? Would you want a cabin where Fluffy had been left alone and wet the floor? How often are the floors shampooed? The cruise line needs to take a hard look at these issues. Rules are in place, and they need to be enforced.

  10. My husband gets the drink package (and now I have to also). He enjoys a drink when we board, an occasional beer/ drink during the day, wine with dinner, a late night drink, etc. I will not break even with my package, by any means. This next trip I will drink bottled water more, enjoy some premium teas, and have an occasional soft drink. I may end up with 2-3 alcoholic drinks at the most. We are D+. I view the Diamond lounge as a place to visit with fellow experienced travelers. I enjoy hearing their experiences and suggestions. For whatever reason, I really can’t drink. 1/2 a glass of wine and I’m semi-drunk, and I do not like that feeling. That being said, I tried a mudslide once on board and got up and was very unsteady on my feet. It kind of snuck up on me lol (diamond lounge does not serve these)

  11. I just wish RCI would just enforce their own rules. Animals left alone in a room are not only not providing support to their human, they are also alone (and probably afraid) in an unfamiliar place. It's not fair for the dog.

As far as pooping anywhere but designated area, $250 cleaning fee mentioned earlier, is more than fair. The rules are there, why aren't they being followed? If the person who can't/won't follow the rules insists on breaking them, put them off at the next port! Just like you say you will in your guidelines/rules!

  12. I went back and read the “Ralphie” thread. Little did I know what a flood gate I would open when I vented about the yappy little princess dog (who was actually a prince, I guess). That dog annoyed everyone who came in contact with him. And all he did was yap, yap, yap - during the ice show, theater, everywhere he went. And sometimes he was left alone in his promenade cabin to annoy those who were any cabin near him. His stroller in the hallway and habit of sitting on his owners lap and eating off the plates (when he wasn’t runnng around eating off the floor) constituted health and safety issues. Never have run into this since this cruise 6 years ago. I had forgotten that he lunged at one person which was another safety issue. At this point, Ralphie may be in dog heaven, or maybe just too old to cruise. Hopefully Royal has a special place to keep a dog like him until the cruise is over. I have since cruised with several dogs that were true service dogs. They were a pleasure to be with. One cruise, on another line, had a group of blind people with their dogs (20 maybe). Hardly knew they were there - most were large dogs, but they just blended in

  13. The soda and alcohol package are the same on ship or before. There are options to buy bottles of water or beer beforehand in your cruise personalizer.

Thank you. I have only cruised with Princess three other times. Royal Caribbean, our most traveled line, often discounts the alcohol package a few weeks before the cruise. Didn’t want to pay the whole amount if it was discounted beforehand.
