@calicakes thank you Randi for posting the menu! It has been a few years since I sailed in AQ but I recalled the breakfast room service was somewhat expanded for AQ back then - with some smoothies included for example - but it looks like that has changed. No big deal for us - we aren’t huge breakfast eaters - but good to know. Thank you again! And thanks for the ongoing post - getting excited for our trip!

And thank you for being gracious and moving on from the ridiculousness, and frankly rudeness, of some of the replies about the chairs (FWIW I wouldn’t care, or care to care, about someone putting stuff down then going to breakfast either.)

    Have a wonderful sea day!

Thank you Randi for taking time out of your vacation to post your encounters, I’m counting the days before we cruise. 😀

Candacee- you took the words right out of my mouth!

  2. Wow, wow....sailing on the Equinox in October for our 30th Anniversary! I truly am disappointed that we can’t watch a movie and just chill. My DH would watch a portion of a movie while I get ready for the evening. Like others have said, it is not the reason we cruise, but is something we’ve ALWAYS done. It is so relaxing to watch a movie in the afternoon. We enjoy the quiet on our vacation at times.

We’ve cruised in the past with our 2 daughters. They have watched movies waiting for us to get ready and for downtime at night. As a parent, I can’t even imagine not having tv for my children.

I do know that many hotels are doing similar cutbacks but you can sign in to Prime or Netflix. We’ve brought our  firestick and streamed. There’s no upcharge for that in the hotels we’ve stayed at. It’s my understanding you have to get unlimited streaming for $$$$ on X  and then watch it on your laptop or Ipad. Really?

There are SO many websites you can stream movies for free, Tubi, Pluto, Vue, etc. why can’t X offer these on the cabin smart TV?

So exactly what is the cabin TV for?  🤷‍♀️

I will be calling and emailing. Should I bring my own toilet paper? They may discontinue TP? Okay....done with my rant.🥺

  3. Hi Randi, Thank you so much for doing this live blog. My husband and I are celebrating our 30th Anniversary on the Equinox in October. We’ve been on 12 cruises and this is our first on X.  I am not looking forward to leaving my beloved mini goldendoodle. Our daughter will be babysitting her but....I will miss her beyond words.❤️

We look forward to hearing about your adventures!  We wish you both a fun and relaxing trip.

BTW, I read the “creature comforts” thread and was disappointed in some of the negative nellies out there. When I travel, I want as much home away from home. We don’t travel light either.

    Bon Voyage! 🎉🛳

We were on the 9/9 to 9/13 Imagination! We found Camilo and we enjoyed him and Margo in every way! We mentioned that he was an internet sensation on cruise critic! He totally remembers you guys, Robert and Shani!! Every bit of your review was head on accurate and we had SO much fun! If anyone is hesitant about booking this cruise, just do it! It’s a great little getaway and we thought the service overall we received was a 10! We would definitely do this again if the time and circumstance is there! Thanks again for your great review and hints-it definitely gave us a picture of what to expect.

  5. Looking forward to your review. I'm in Phoenix also, and I have not pulled the trigger on one of the Long Beach trips yet because 1. No Balconies and I am not paying for a suite for such a short trip and 2. Not really sure I want to sail to a couple of places in Mexico I would not otherwise choose to visit for the sake of a massive drunk fest. 3. Oh and 3, not sure I want to expose my kid to that. As you are experiencing the cruise, do me a favor and tell me if you would have felt comfortable bringing your daughter and if you think she would have had fun.

I share your concerns, except for number 3. Our DDs are older and will be home! My DH and I have been on 10 cruises in all. Since we live in Phoenix, we figure this is just a QUICK vacay. Time away from work and home! We usually book balcony staterooms too but yes, the price on this ship doesn't make sense. We have an ocean view room. As far as Ensenada, we are NOT, I repeat, NOT getting off the ship. We will enjoy a nice lounge chair by the pool and the luxury of less passengers. Honestly, if you're expectation is R & R, I think this could be an option.

I'm looking forward to SonoranDevils review upon his return. He seems to have a positive vibe and wants a relaxing, fun little trip!

  6. Hi Fellow Cruisers, can you please assist me with two questions? My husband and I are cruising on the Imagination this September. Are dress shorts for men in the main dining room acceptable for dinner or docker pants only?

Also, is the beach just off the Pier in Catalina Island nice? Do they offer chairs/umbrellas for rent?

Any other hints or things you encountered on this ship will be appreciated!

My husband and I cruised this ship in 1997 when it was younger....and so were we!

    Thanks in advance!
