  1. The traffic in St. George is very light. If you rent from Oleander, you can rent in St.G, drive around, turn in the scooter, take the ferry back, and pick up another scooter at Dockyard for free. If you rent for 2 days, you could drive around Dockyard and go to the south shore beaches 1 day, and do St. George another day. It is expensive to rent for just 1 or 2 days, but you can check out the prices and rent online (10% discount online) at the Oleander site. If you change your mind, they will refund you. That being said, imho, unless you have previous motorcycle, a lot of bicycle, or better yet, scooter experience, I would not even consider it. Even with that experience, I would practice on it for a while before taking it out on the main roads. My friend let his wife drive, she had no experience or practice. She crashed within 20 ft. A couple of scrapes, and lesson learned. Also, it takes a little getting used to driving on the left side of the road. But, if you meet the above qualifications and feel comfortable, I wouldn't talk you out of it. The speed limit is only 40kmh (22mph), but most locals go faster.

  2. Njhorseman is very knowledgeable on these boards. I personally, take heed to his information. He is correct in stating, St Georges Art Mels has been closed for a while. Hamilton Art Mels was also closed when we were there May 22. Talked to a couple locals who said the relatives of Art were fighting. Of course, that doesn't mean it will be closed forever. But I would find out if they are open, before I grabbed a cab to go there.

  3. Just back from a weeks stay in St George. Ate at Wahoo's and it was excellent food with a nice view. Of course food is subjective. Favorite for a local vibe and great food is Mama Angies, but, no view, and is only open for breakfast and lunch. (8am-2:45 m-f). If you are at Tobacco Bay, I recommend eating at The Beach House at Blackbeards in Achilles Bay, beautiful views and very good food, which is in between Tobacco Bay and Ft. St.Catherine. You can visit Ft. St.Catherine, Tobacco Bay, and Achilles Bay all in the same shot. If you have the chance, go to Blackbeards at sunset. Stunning sunset view.

  4. Just back from a weeks stay in St. George. We rented 2 scooters, 2 couples. My opinion is ... rent them at your own peril. My friend and I both have motorcycle experience. Driving single was okay, but double was a challenge. There are very few scooter related deaths in Bermuda, but lots of injuries, some serious. In the future, I personally would rent one for short jaunts, but not long hauls.

  5. Just got back from a weeks stay in St. George. Been to Bermuda 8 times. Been to many beaches and snorkeled most. That being said, imho, Church Bay is WAY better than Tobacco Bay for snorkeling, scenery, and yes, even beach. The beach at Tobacco is small and not flat. (Church Bay is small but flat)

That being said, everything is at your fingertips at Tobacco, bathrooms, bar, restaurant, tables and chairs, lounge chair and snorkeling rental, and loud music. None of that is available at Church Bay. But for pure snorkeling, Church Bay is the best. Tobacco bay is not much better than Horseshoe for snorkeling, imho.

  6. We are staying in St. George. Similar to Paul, we plan on renting scooters, and doing some of our own cooking. We are going with another couple, we each have our own place. Each place has 2 bed rms, full kitchen, living and dining rm, and balcony or patio. $150 nt total per couple. I used bermudarentals.

  7. I have been to Bermuda 7 times, all cruises. This year we are going for a 7 nt stay in Bermuda this May. We are renting a place instead of a hotel. Cost is a little under $1000.00 per person. (2 adults, air & lodging) This does not inc. food, drink, etc. But we have a kitchen, dining rm, living rm, and 2 bed rms. I have never done this before, so I'll have to see how it goes. But, there is so much to do and see in Bermuda, 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 days is not nearly enough to visit, IMHO. I have been in Apr, May, June, and July. April is very nice, but water is too cold. July is too hot ( unless you just want to go to the beach). Their dew point is extremely high..... 82 feels like 90-100, and very sticky, heavy air. Middle of May to middle of June is best to me.

  8. Air temp in Bermuda in October is similar to temp in June. The beginning of Oct is like the end of June. The end of Oct is like the beginning of June. (Same with water temp.) So, I don't think it'll be too chilly, unless 80-90+ (with the dew point)is too cold for you. :) But, tropical storms or hurricanes could be a small possibility. Of course the same goes for PR. But less chance in BM. Whatever you choose, hope you have a wonderful cerimony and a long, happy life together.

  9. Been there and love it. Then again, I love just about everything in BM. Take the #1 or #3 bus out of Hamilton. There are 2 places to enter/depart. (1.Near the gas station or 2.Tom Moores Tavern) Ask the bus driver, and he or she will drop you off accordingly. Try to locate the cave you can swim in, would be my only advice.

  10. Was on the Summit May 11 - 18. I'll try to sum it up for you using brevity. The ship was very clean and well kept in all areas I was in. The food in MDR ranged from fair to very good. The food in buffet ranged from fair to good. The burgers/hot dogs/fries at the grill were very good. Service in all areas ranged from good to excellent. Food and service are very subjective, so take mine and others attest on the subject, with a grain of salt. If you're asking about the condition of the ship itself, it was extremely clean and nice. Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

  11. Just back from Summit to Bermuda. We had the Classic Pkg. We are not big drinkers, but I like to have a Scotch now and then. My Scotch of choice is Johnny Walker Red or Black. Since Red was included in the pkg, thats what I had the 2nd night. I went to have one about the 5th or 6th night, and was told Red was not on the Classic but on the Premium. (I double checked it with another bartender at a different bar) Kind of classless of Celebrity to do that mid cruise .... but it is what it is. So to sum it up, Johnny Walker Red is no longer on the Classic Pkg. Sorry to break the bad news to all the JW Red fans with the Classic pkg. Cheers!

  12. I posed a similar ? not long ago and here is one answer I recieved: We are just back from the Summit this past weekend and I can provide you with all the answers you seek...

The specialty coffees can be ordered in the MDR. The assistant waiter runs to the Café al Bacio to get your coffee and bring it back to the MDR for you. The classic package will cover this, as well as the premium package (obviously).

I am not a big coffee fan, but found myself drinking 2 per day from

Café al Bacio. The Caramel Macchiato was heavenly and the one with the granola in was great as well. We always went there first in the morning and got them in a cup to go and then went to the MDR for breakfast (the waiters in the MDR already had a grudge against me for asking them for fresh squeezed OJ every morning - they had to go to the buffet upstairs to get it - so I cannot imagine asking them to leave to go to the Café al Bacio for my coffee as well. Now...after dinner, that was a different story. Our regular assistant waiter got used to the drill and happily got it daily even without our asking for it.

As for the smoothies...they are available on both beverage packages. You get them in the AquaSpa Cafe. It is located just behind the

thalassotherapy pool in the indoor swimming pool area. I tried one or two, but was not crazy for them. I had high hopes for them, but I was not big on the flax and protein powder texture in them. You can also use you beverage package for the healthy "sundaes" they have at the AquaSpa Cafe. They were quite good, but they all use plain yogurt. If they had only used vanilla yogurt instead, I would have had 3 or 4 of them per day. These are INCLUDED in BOTH beverage packages. Enjoy.
