A passport is a nice to have in case they get stuck on foreign soil and will need to fly back.

I read somewhere that NCL Jewel is officially ending it's relationship with Nickelodeon starting in January.
Do any of you have any details as to what they intend to put in it's place?
I wonder if there will be some deconstruction going on during our Jan 10th sailing??
The replacement of the Nick programs is summarized here http://www.cruisecritic.com/news/news.cfm?ID=6617

I've been in a mini-suite on the Breakaway which is similar. As others have said, there is a pull down bed from the ceiling and the sofa also converts to a bed. In this pic, the sofa has not been fully extended but you can see the pull down bed:

I'm with you vacationdreamer! We may just have to stay on the ship or something since the tubing excursion which seemed interesting has a min age limit and I'm not comfortable leaving 2 kids in the kids club while we're off ship.
-
I'm traveling with a 4 and 6 yr old and a private island like GSC was exactly what we're looking for at Harvest Caye. I'm already doing excursions in Roatan and Cozumel.. is there enough to do inside the "gate" at belize city or is it just full of overpriced cruise line junk? Should I be looking at another excursion to do in case we don't make Harvest Caye?
-
I'm supposed to be on the first ship to Harvest Caye.. what's there to do in Belize City instead since it seems people would rather go there?
-
While the group is having lunch, did everyone also pay for the driver to have lunch as well? Just want to know what is expected and don't do anything wrong.

Book with budget for pickup at IAH and drop off at Webster. Its a ~$40 taxi instead of ~$120 to the ship.
Found it, thanks!

There's still no 1 way rental from IAH to the port right? We're landing in IAH the day before and renting a car to visit family. I'll most likely have to drop the car back at IAH and then take a cab to the port. It would have been great to get a 1 way but Enterprise was close to $200 I think.
I think I'll be doing the Maya Key AI through NCL at Roatan and booking a private tour of Cozumel via a tour site. Thanks for the info!

IMO I would not count on it. We were there at 615 for tickets beginning to be passed out at 7am. We were in a group that didn't get called until around 11am. We still had a great time on beach, but day didn't start off ideal. After the tenders started on time things went downhill when the boat had to reposition, wait for RCI boat to dock, and had a staff drill which I'm sure delayed things.
Again, we had a great cruise. I just want people to know the tendering in Roatan was a mess. I had to cancel a charter which I felt very bad about.
I was thinking of doing the Maya Key excursion.. not sure how much island time we'll have now :(
-
Roatan is the only tender port right? I'm on the first sailing that includes Harvest Caye so I'm not worried about this port but Cozumel has docks for all ships right?
-
We got off the Jade yesterday as well. Customs was quick and painless.
We had an 11:45am flight out of IAH, and got there with more than 2 hours to spare.
How did you get to IAH? I've got a 1pm flight and have been worried but I think I'll have plenty of time.

What's the driver doing when you guys are eating lunch? Are we expected to buy for him too? We're taking a tour with one of the company that is mentioned here in a few months and just want to know what to expect

You can bring anything legal in your bag, ensure included :)

You have to pay for soda from the fountain? That's insane!
Not sure which cruises you've been on but there are no fountains available to the public. If you want soda, you get it from the server or bar. In the buffet, there is usually a juice/beverage attendant where you can get fresh squeezed juices (and soda) for a fee.
Flavored water is also free.

The trick is to pay too much for your original cabin. :p
This is the right answer. On the Breakaway few years ago, we paid $799 for a balcony room and a month before sailing, they dropped to $699 while family mini-suites were $749. I had the TA call NCL and we got an upgrade to the mini-suite. I didn't complain since I booked with KSF promotion and that got transferred over as well.

Thanks! We'll be on in Feb as well. Any tips to share about the ship or ports?
-
Even if it was, why would you go in it? By the time you wake up on the second day, it should be warm enough for the pool.
-
I'll definitely try and do a write up after the port and post it via wifi once I a connection.
-
I'm on that cruise.. I hope it will be a great port.
-
What specials do they have on board for the FCC/CruiseNext other than what's on their site now?
-
We ran into the same issue. Our first cruise was last February with RCI, then we booked with NCL for our 2nd cruise through Norway in June and got UDP and 375.00 obc and a 100$ amazon GC from our TA. Now for our 3rd cruise in January (3rd in less than 12 months) we are booked in the Haven.
Wow, what TA do you have to offer such generous credits?

Thanks everyone :D
