Put in a TIME respect 250 minutes =s 4 hours and 10 minutes - USE IT WISELY !

Suggest that you do your internet tinkering while in port - find a coffee shop or

other free source to do the serious stuff.

Forget to LOG-OFF and fleeting time is gone in a poof - - -

And YES the Internet Cafe people MAY at their discretion reset your time - - -

Did you perchance read the NCL Internet for Dummies Ver. 101 ?

Consider conversion of the free 250 minutes to Unlimited.

    If necessary need a paper copy document - it will costa-ya $0.50 a page - - -

Do this printing while at the Internet Cafe for security reasons.

Text maybe OK but if you are used to fiber optic light speed - your NCL Wi-Fi

will be like the seahorse pony express rotary dial on the slow boat from Yokohama !

thanks for the info. Where can I find NCL Internet for Dummies Ver. 101??

You can register as many devices as you need/wanted to use onboard with the 250 free minutes (that's under the older/previous Free At Seas promo plan choices - now, it's 150 free minutes per person, passenger #1 and #2 only) while connected AND logged into the satellite inTERnet onboard the ship.  Ship's WiFi signal also enabled & support the free iNTRAnet coverage, i.e. access digital Dining Menu, review onboard charges & make reservations, etc. - which does NOT count or reduce your free inTERnet airtime minutes.  There is a "meter" feature displayed via the browser that show minutes used & remaining, and follow the steps to log-in and log-out each time, to stop the "clock" or your usable airtime will run out very fast, by the end of mid/late evening on embarkation day (#1) if you forget.

iCafe manager will usually, do a one-time reset to restore your accidental minutest lost if you ask, at his/her discretion upon review.

If you go to my Getaway link above, there are sample screenshots of what & how, what you should be looking at & be careful with - there should be a printed quick guide at the iCafe to pickup, with instructions on how to ... most seasoned cruisers figure it out on the fly.

ok, I will check out your post. I appreciate all your detailed information. I agree that it would be easy to blow through the 150 very quickly. So it really does not solve the issue of being able to text other family members on the ship. Texting is really all we want to do just so we can set up meeting places or just to see where others are. I guess if I have them all use Whatsapp, it won't help since we would need WiFi to use that service. I guess we might have to upgrade our pkg.

  3. OK, so I did not think it was going to be this confusing - LOL

Thanks to both of you for all the information you provided.

I know my group will not be looking to upgrade to any additional WiFi plans - so that option is mostly out of the question.

Can you elaborate a little more on the free WiFi that we get.

Is the 250 min for just being logged into the Wifi network or 250 min of actual usage? I can't  imagine a text message would take up much time. I my issue would be having 2 people in the same cabin logged in at the same time which I don't think is possible.

    Thanks...

  4. Hello All,

Question about using cell phones while onboard. We will be on the Breakaway and have the Free At Sea 250 min internet pkg.

My question is - can I use this perk to send/receive text messages? I have Verizon Cell plan.

Is it true that the free at sea perk allows only one person to log on to WiFi at a time? If so, then I guess sending/receiving text messages won't work.

I just added Whatsapp to my phone to communicate with our tour guides while in the Caribbean.

Would Whatsapp work for me while on the ship for texting other family members?

    Thank you very much,

    Mitch

  5. Thank you very much for the detailed information.

I am hoping some comments to my post will sway me one way or the other.

For me personally, I'm leaning towards GCB since like you said, there are a lot of amenities etc which is what I am looking for. But, the rest of my group is looking for less crowds and just getting on the best beach possible.

I will wait and see if others respond that may have been to both beaches recently and give their thoughts.

Thanks Blue-Water - appreciate all your input.

  6. Hi All,

Having trouble deciding between Long Bay Beach East End Beef Island and Cane Garden Beach.

Will be on the Breakaway arriving in May. I am pretty certain we are the only ship in port that day. I know the ship usually takes people to Cane Garden, but really how crowded can it be? I can't imagine everybody goes to the (same) beach.

I reserved a taxi to take my group to the beach - they suggested Long Bay.

    Our requirements are:

    Clean Beach

    Nice white/clean sand

    Restroom facilities

    Food/Drink to purchase

    Chair/umbrellas to rent

Since we are only in port for a short time, our actual time on the beach will only be about 3 maybe 4 hours long.

    Thoughts and suggestions please....

    Thanks in advance.

    Mitch

  7. Hello All,

Looking for private tour guide that will show us the "real" Antigua.

I have read some reviews about all the popular guides, but has anybody ever used Elmo's Luxury Safari Tours?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

  8. How did your excursion go with Patrice? I am considering booking with her and your feedback would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

Our Tour was a huge success.

Patrice was extremely friendly as was here driver whose name escapes me right now.

She ended up being with us for a part of our tour then she left us with the driver who was also very good.

She will customize the tour to your likes and I would not hesitate to use her again.

She did an EXCELLENT job. Very clean van and was at the designated meeting point as promised in all her e-mails to me.

    Mitch...

  9. It is now done by muster station. June 1 was before the current CD was onboard. Leigh always does it by muster station on whatever ship he is CD on. I understand that you all want to attend together but honestly having sailed under both systems for most folks doing it by muster station is so much easier. The other way everyone has to stand on line to get tickets. This way only those who must all sit together and are in different cabins have to stand on a line.

    thanks for the info.

It was not really what I was hoping to hear.

It does not really seem fair that groups of people staying in different parts of the ship cannot attend the same show.

We are leaving on Aug. 9, so I guess we will just have to play it by ear.

    THANKS everybody.

  10. after reading the most current cruise compass, it makes it sound like it is assigned by muster station and you no longer stand in line.

I don't think it would be fair to have some of my group have to wait in a stand by line while others can go right in.

Hopefully we will all be able to attend the same show without issue.

    Thanks,

    Mitch.......

  11. My understanding is that the Ice Show is now assigned to you based on your muster station as oppsed to getting tickets the first as in the past.

My group is in cabins all over the ship, so I know we will not all be in the same must station.

So, how do we go about attending the same Ice Show??

    Thank you,

    Mitch.......

  12. Ice Show tickets were assigned based on your muster station. For example, mine was B15 and that meant I could go see the show on Thursday afternoon (along with a bunch of other muster stations)

Don't know if they allowed walk-ins once you got close to show time, but would assume that they would

what if family member are at different muster stations? Can they still go to the same show? If so, how?

    Thanks again,

  13. Ice Show tickets were assigned based on your muster station. For example, mine was B15 and that meant I could go see the show on Thursday afternoon (along with a bunch of other muster stations)

wow - that is different from what they did before.

I think that on the first day, people could line up and get tix to any show of your choice.

    Thanks again for the information.

  14. Don't stress. I recently (@ 2 years ago)took two couples with us on the oasis. They were practically cruise virgins. I booked all their entertainment and stressed over the details trying to keep all of us together all the time and make everyone happy. You know what? They ended up only attending half the shows and I found that they preferred to dine most evening at the specialty venues whereas we do 75% of our dining in the main dining room so again we were split up and everyone found their way and happiness with out me!!

Basically what I'm trying to say is just worry about your wife and yourself and if the other members of your party want to stick to the MDR then they can grab a cab back to the ship at 5:30 and you can arrange to meet them at the late show later that evening. You may all appreciate the break from one another.

easier said then done, BUT, I do fully understand.

I think that is exactly what we are going to do. Whoever wants the MDR - then go for it, then if some want the WJ - then go for it.

Yes we may just have to split up on our 2 late ports.

Thanks for the words of "encouragement" I think stress is my middle name. I have to make sure things run 100% even though I know it does not always work that way.

    Mitch..

  15. We walked to the beach, it can be a hot one. Don't worry, there's plenty of spots for chairs. You might start in the shade but know it moves throughout the day. I didn't think it was too crowded on our INDY cruise that was sold out a week ago. I don't remember any young children. The beach is long enough you will find a quiet place. The water is gentle and the beach is sandy but you probably should wear some type of foot covering in your ride/walk there.

    thanks heavenlysea.

    This is good to know.

I think most in my group will try and walk it, while others will have to take the tram. Whoever gets there first will hold some loungers for us.

I think Columbus Cove will be our destination, but that could change throughout the day.

    THANKS!!!

  16. I was just there on LOS. It really is about the same. The walk is not that far and by the time you wait for a tram to leave, you could be there. We walked to the beach and took the tram back.

    excellent information.

how did you like Columbus Cove?? WE just want a nice beach that is not crowed and overrun by children. My "kids" are in their early 20's, so I am out of the crying children stage.

    THANKS!!!!

  17. We walked everywhere as well. When we got off the ship the trams we not even running yet. We have been to Disneys Castaway Cay so in comparison the walls were short. Nothing was more than a 10-15 minute walks. There are signs posted with estimated walk times as well.

    thanks very much.

Maybe walking is the best idea.

We just want to get a nice spot and the beach and plant ourselves there for the day.

  18. When we were in Labadee we walked from the port, maybe 15 minutes give or take. It is an easy walk, but you can also take the trolley.

We did not go to Adrenalin Beach, but it should be an easy walk there. The place isn't that big.

    Here's a map for help:

Columbus Cove is in the lower right part of Labadee, and Adrenalin Beach is in the top right.

    Hope this helps.

    Craig

    thank you very much.

I think we will take the walk and see how it goes.

  19. Columbus Cove was quiet early on. As it got closer to lunch it got busier. . Picture was taken around 9 am.

What is the best way to get to Columbus Cove?

    Walk or the trolley?

Also, how hard is it to go back and forth between Adrenalin Beach and Columbus Cove? Some in my group may want to do Adrenalin, and and others may want to do Columbus.

    Mitch..........

  20. we have done MTD on 2 previous cruises, we usually book for 6.30 and you tend to be served quicker than lower floors on traditional 6pm dining as we are not waiting around for others to turn up.

This summer we have 2 late ports and I have booked for 8pm, it is easy also to change bookings if plan changes.

I thought there was a "limit" on how many people could book MTD.

I would think that it is "sold out" by now for our 8/9/15 cruise.
