I almost always book through NCL and have always had the choice of bidding on an upgrade. Since our upcoming cruise is the first one we’ve taken since Covid I wasn’t sure if things have changed. If I click on the Room Upgrades button on the My Plans Page and type in my name and reservation number it says “reservation not found.” Is there a time frame when bidding starts? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I called NCL about this last week and was told it's too far out from my cruise for that option to be available.

Ya crazy…I guess I was hoping if someone had changed cruises and deposit was transferred to new cruise…thank you everyone

i was able to do it last week, but then i had to change it back to the original dates and it needed extra approval and i got a lecture about not doing it again. <rolls eyes>

Wonderful and glad you called again. And remember to keep on checking for future price drops.

    thanks and I will.

i'm already obsessed with this trip because I spent a lot of time stalking the website until the cabin we wanted was available (forward facing club balcony on the Sun--there are only 2 and i kept checking to see if one got released). now I've got another project, lol.

Are you sure you want to wait until tomorrow?  Prices can change (literally) overnight.

i called and was told that they will only do 1 price drop on that reservation prior to final payment so I am going to hold off for a bit since it's over a year away.

Yes they are a little lower on the cruise I was pricing but not by 10%.   I.E.  with 40% off an inside was $789.  Now with 50% off it's 749.  If you do the math it's clear they raised the base price.   Also the free airfare for second guest has been deleted.

I still see the free airfare for the second person listed as part of the deal.

I checked our 2023 sailing and it's gone down $800 or about 10%. i'll call NCL tomorrow.

While you’re likely to be offered a chance to bid to a higher category, it’s not as likely that you’re bid will be accepted and you will be assigned that particular cabin. If you want it, just upgrade outright!

thanks--I'm pretty happy with the front-facing mini-suite and was mostly curious about the factors that go into being offered an upsell.

If they are sold out already, there is a chance that one will open.

That being said, the probability of you seeing it before it is snatched up is near zero.

Is there such a thing as a forward facing club balcony???? I thought they were all full suites. We try to book forward facing suites on the small ships, but don’t recall any club rooms.

on the 11th deck on the Sun there 6 forward facing cabins: 2 suites, 2 regular balconies, and 2 mini-suites. the Sun is new to us so I've been busy learning all about it!

The balconies on the forward facing club balcony or regular balcony cabins on the Sun are simply amazing when it comes to space - wouldn't change that for a sideways club balcony even if the bathroom is "better" on the "sideways facing" club balcony cabins.

This is from one of the two forward facing regular balcony cabins:

thanks for the photo--the balcony is the reason i wanted this cabin and I'm happy to have been able to book it.

  8. we're sailing the Sun next year and the cabin i really wanted opened up (front-facing mini-suite). I don't like the bathroom arrangement as much as I do with the side-facing mini-suites but the room is a big bigger. I'm curious if, like with flights, certain cabins are easier to resell for a higher price and so you're more likely to be offered an upsell or upgrade closer to the sail date.

    thanks!

  9. Love the vista cabins wrap but don't know if they would replace a suite!!! if you are going to sail with a group or love sitting outdoors on your balcony then this is the room for you. If you like the comforts of a suite, then don't book this room. I love it, because it has an extra window and the bed (in our room) was placed in front of one of the windows. The bathrooms are the size of regular rooms (tiny) so you give up the luxury of a suite bathroom. The size of the room is odd and in some rooms smaller than the suite. It all depends if your husband wants to try something new. I love trying new rooms.

on the Spirit class ships, the aft wraps are considered suites. there is an entire wall of windows:

and the bathroom is extremely large, with double sinks and jetted tub:

  10. My husband said he would be worried about soot and noise from the back of the boat. Are these things an issue having a Vista Suite?

no soot and a little more noise (vibration) but nothing that interferes with conversation or sleeping.

4228 on the Pride is our favorite cabin--we're booked for our 3rd cruise in it for New Year's.

it's got a nice bedroom, dressing room, and living room space:
