  1. Thanks Rols. I'm glad all was good for you. Our sea day has now become Megisti. Not much info about it but looks like pretty little town. A week today and we will be at sail off, drink in hand and looking forward to dinner. :D

  2. With only a week to go we've received another email tonight with our third and hopefully last itinerary change. Limassol (not in the original itinerary) now changed to Paphos. Megisti instead of the sea day that was added in the last change and Patmos still there on day 2 from the last round of changes. Are you keeping up....? I'm not sure I am! Two more ports to research and packing list planned for tomorrow. Looking forward to our magical mystery tour:)

  3. Hi Fudge

Happy to see you are settling into life onboard and hope you enjoy your steak!

I'm not sure if you'll remember us but Mark & I were next door to you on Silversea Expedition to Antarctica in Jan' 13 and shared your DW's special birthday and dinner with the Captain with you. I like you didn't sign up for an all Greek itinerary or a sea day but I remember you as a fun guy so I'm sure you'll make the most of it! I remember you stayed in the Turkish north of Cyprus then so have you now moved to the Greek side from your earlier comments? I hope you keep us updated with your trip. Our luggage tags etc arrived today so the excitement is building and I'm looking forward to sail away cocktails.

  4. Hi Swixpat

The email says for the remainder of 2016. I only received it two hours ago. We are on the 27/8 departure. Here is.

After a very careful and thorough review of events this past week, Seabourn has decided to cancel our port calls in Turkey for the remainder of the 2016 season. The company analyzes information regarding safety and security from many sources in making these decisions, which includes liaising with government intelligence agencies and on-the-ground port security assessments. The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority and we appreciate our guests’ understanding.

For your sailing, this means we are replacing the ports of Myrina, Cesme and Bodrum with a sea day and port calls to Pátmos and Limassol. Our revised itinerary for this sailing is as follows:

  5. Also got the email this evening. This cruise is now very different and we only booked a month ago. We wouldn't have chosen this new itinery and we now have a day at sea. Whilst I understand Seabourns position the FCO is not stopping travel. I guess it is what it is.....

    Day Port Arrival Departure

    Piraeus (Athens) Greece 1700

    01 Pátmos, Nisos Pátmos, Greece 0800 1800

    02 Rhodes, Nisos Rhodos, Greece 0700 1500

    03 Limassol, Cyprus 1100 2000

    04 At Sea (Mediterranean Sea)

05 Thíra, Nisos Thíra (Santorini), Greece 0800 1700

06 Spétsai, Nisos Spétsai (Spetses), Greece 0800 1700

    07 Piraeus (Athens) Greece 0700

  6. We are on the Odyssey 27th August departure and have had the embarkation change to Athens. Other two Turkish ports unchanged. Reasonable changes reimbursed and OBC. Very professional service from Seaborne.

  7. TPATravelfan you say SS "cancelled most of their Antarctic itineraries this season" that's a bit of an exageration. They cancelled one cruise and curtailed the cruise that the incident took place on. We were on the next cruise that left on 31st Jan and all was as scheduled.

You will indeed have "the brightest Expedition Leader" for your Antarctic portion as it's Robin West the Expedition leader from Silver Explorer who will be on for the three month season with his wife and Assistant Expedition Leader Jarda. There will also be Chris Srigley another SS expedition Team member. Robin and his team are one of the main reasons we went SS as we had experienced the Arctic with Robin on SS and the organisiation, professionalism and knowledge he has in polar regions is second to none. I also see SB has engaged an experienced ice Captain for this section.

I only hope SB listen to Robin and allow him to arrange what it takes to deliver an amazing customer experience.

We were on Quest in October and it is indeed an elegant ship with a great passenger space ratio both in public area and cabins. We unfortunately met with a few service issues at meal times which were not handled with the grace and care I would have expected. Hopefully those indiviuals have not had their contracts renewed or have had some training.

Your trip is the 21 Day Ultimate Antartica & Patagonia one and I think worth remebering that the Antarctic section is only a quarter of what is a super overall itinery. The exact landings on the Peninsula will not be booked until the July booking slot opens and all cruise companies put in their request for days/times for the forthcoming season and even then will be subject to change at a moments notice. With the large passenger numbers and the tight restrictions as others have mentioed it will probably be only one landing a day that will be planned and if weather conditions change it may mean some are unfortunate that day as with any polar excursions.

My personal thoughts are I'm very happy to have been to Antarctica with an Expedition Ship and SS in particular but if I had 21 days to travel round South America and "take in" Antartctica again I wouldnt say no to Quest.

    Enjoy!

  8. Hello All,

    I'm looking for a referal coupon,please:)

I'm paying our final balance tomorrow for our Quest cruise on the 13th October this year. We are newbies to SB and based in the UK. (just in case that makes a difference to anyone.) No other OBC. I notice there are a few currently advertised but don't know if they've gone? I have the UK SB address and then they said they forward to Seattle to be credited.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Maddie
