Just about to book our first Silversea and trying to decide if their business class air is worth doing or better to book on our own. Have done cruises with another company that includes air and their choice of flights out of Toronto was very good. Would anyone care to comment on experiences with air, airlines used, routing of flights etc, especially if you have flown out of Toronto. It initially looks financially good to book with them but that doesn't necessarily mean it's better.
TIA

You are right, the cruise itself is Amsterdam to Basel but we took the Avalon extension that adds the land tour to Lucerne and Lake Como.
A few years ago we did a driving trip from Frankfurt down the Rhine to Basel and thought sailing it would be nice.
Thanks for the tip on Cologne. Will remember to go back out after dinner to see everything lit up.
Not sure if we will do the Black Forest excursion as we have been to the village and driven the area. Have to see what else there is.
So good to be going on another river cruise. We do a lot of ocean cruises so enjoy the difference of a river cruise.

Haven't been on here since 2017 when we did our last Avalon Danube cruise so trying to catch up on all the great Info. We are doing the Amsterdam to Como Rhine cruise in May, interestingly on the same ship Panorama and even the same cabin. Looking for any suggestions or input for this trip. Really love the cabins on Avalon and the food was always great.

We always use the Crowne Plaza on cruises out of San Pedro. it's a nice location. You can get a package including breakfast. There's a good Mexican restaurant next door. Watch for the trolley that takes you all around the area for free.

Has anyone taken the bus from Le Havre to Honfleur? I'm trying to find info on it without too much success

sounds great. Looking forward to it now!

Looking for reviews on the new Miami terminal, especially comments on the Haven check-in area. Any experiences out there?

Sorry about that, was sure I only posted in one thread. But I did get an error message when I posted so re-posted. Maybe that's why

Has anyone sailed in a suite on a non-haven ship very recently. I remember what the breakfast/lunch menus were a couple of years ago in Cagneys. Has there been a change there or are they the same?

Thanks folks.
That makes more sense and is in order with our past experiences

Was just checking to book our Latitudes free dinner in Cagneys or Le Bistro. There is now a note next to that offer online. Says that an appetizer, entree and dessert can be ordered but total $35 is allowed. Very little entrees under $35 and certainly not the total order. Never had that issue before. Anyone experienced that recently?

When we were in Le Havre in 2017, we got off the ship and there were taxis at the dock. We and two other couples piled into one car and the driver took us to Honfleur, about 30 minutes away. My husband speaks french and so was able to communicate with the driver and we arranged a time for him to come back and pick us up, which he did without any issues. His name was Gregoire Panel from Artisan taxi and he can be reached at gregoire.panel@yahoo.fr. His english is limited but he did speak a little. We enjoyed our time in Honfleur and had much more time to ourselves than if we had taken public transport or even the Princess tour which gave us limited hours.
Hope this helps
Can you remember how much this cost. We want to do the same thing and there are 3 of us so want something cheaper and more flexible than what the ship's excursion offers

I've seen posts that the way to get from the cruise terminal into Bruges is by train but the bus sounds a lot easier, especially if it's found right at the cruise terminal. How often does it go and are there enough bus rides to accomodate all the passengers? Also, how much and how often is the ride back from Bruges?
-
Thanks for all this folks. There will be three of us(one is not that mobile) and I am trying to determine the most efficient but cost effective way. I do have a good quote for a private car to Heathrow but need to compare with NCL's cost for three people. At $59. each with NCL, the private car is cheaper. I will probably go that route.
Thanks everyone for your input

Great thanks

Does anyone know the cost of the ship's shuttle from Southampton to Heathrow?
-
I thought it was on the web site but couldn't find it either. Then tried calling NCL but there was a 45 minute wait for someone and couldn't sit on hold that long. So really hoping hoping someone on here had the answer
-
Does anyone know how much NCL charges for their airport transfer from Southampton cruise terminal?
-
Has anyone crossed the border from U.S. at a land border? Do they have to see your ArriveCan on your device or just look at passport and ask if Arrivecan completed
-
Thanks folks!
Great conversation and I have certainly learned a few things.

I've just reached Ambassador level. How long does it take to be able to book free cruise and what is the special gist I get and do we get one each ?
-
Well folks, NCL has just updated their peace of Mind policy and are offering FFC's for cruises up to May,
see below
"Simply put, for new and existing bookings made by January 31, 2022, for any voyage with an embarkation date through and including May 31, 2022, guests are free to cancel up to and including January 31, 2022. Anyone choosing to cancel will receive a full refund in the form of a future cruise credit to be used for sailings that embark through December 31, 2022. Reservations cancelled outside of final payment will receive a full refund back to the method of payment used to book. If outside final payment and an FCC was used as payment, the original FCC will be added back to the guest's profile."
I've just asked my TA to go ahead with the cancellation.. Wasn't expecting this!

Same here. Got a negative on a FCC from NCL for my February cruise. Hoping the CDC decides to issue cruise ban, then they have to give me something.
At least Air Canada was great. Got a full refund, no questions asked!
