  1. I'd love to book what I want, but $$$ definitely plays a factor.  For Symphony in November, we're in an Oceanview balcony.   As much as my wife and I would love to be in a JS (we've gotten used to them over the years), the price is literally more than double what we're currently paying.

That's where the Royal Up maaaay (?) be beneficial.  Or a substantial price drop where we can upgrade ourselves, but I'm thinking those days may be over.

I got my acceptance email last night. Sailing on the Anthem to Bermuda on May 25. On March 6 I bid $900 for a Sky Loft suite (bid range was $700-$1300). After checking on what it would cost to just upgrade (the SLS was $7,800 for two), I increased my bid to $1,000/pp on March 7, and got my Congratulations email on March 18.

Much congrats!  If you were originally in a JS or below, how did they handle the extra gratuities?  Did they just charge that to your card, in addition to the price of the bid?  Thanks!

  3. Nabalab- I always book direct w Royal. It seems like some people get some really nice perks from their TA’s but I am a bit of a conrol freak, if a price drop came up and I couldn’t reach TA, I would blow a gasket.[emoji23]

    Ah okay, perfectly understandable! Thanks!

  4. After having a few hotels cancel on me, booked my first AirBnB near the San Juan airport for this weekend. If it's good, I will recommend.

Definitely check reviews, cancellation policy, and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Before I booked, I narrowed my search down to two. I reached out to both hosts to see if the places had power. One responded almost immediately that there was power and running water. The other one took about a half-day to respond to say there's no power (yet their listing is still posted).

    Good luck.

  5. My reservation at Comfort Inn was cancelled also. I knew they were having trouble with their generator but thought they would have it fixed. We got a room near the airport on AirBnB for 2 nights near the airport. You might want to check them out before you change your reservation.

Looked into AirBNB yesterday. Narrowed it down to 2 places - one in Condado (ironically near the Comfort Inn) and one near the airport.

Reached out to both to see if they had power - only the host near the airport responded. They have power and running water. And the supermarket (in walking distance) has power too. So we booked it.

  7. Interesting because we were on a B2B in January and were able to use it both weeks for Wonderland.

    Not surprised!

The night we tried to go was actually New Years Eve. But we were told specifically that wasn't the reason why... they just said that Wonderland BOGO was just on Anthem/Quantum.

It all worked out in the end for us - wife and I went to Sabor on the Boardwalk, which wasn't crowded at all (and cheaper). And afterwards walked by the Aqua Theatre and ended up getting on CNN, who was broadcasting live :)

  8. I'm staying at the Comfort Inn San Juan (Condado) in early November, the night before a cruise. Had called a few times to confirm, but no one was picking up.

However, last week someone on the Adventure 10/14 Roll Call thread said that it's best to call them between 6 and 8pm. So I did just that last Sunday and got in touch with them. They are running on generators, but confirmed they're open.

I definitely plan on calling a few more times to double and triple check my reservation.

  9. Several people on today's cruise have reported that they have checked into the Comfort Inn with no issues.

I'm guessing/hoping that this is the one in Condado (San Juan). I have a reservation with them before my cruise in early November. Called a few weeks ago, they said things would be fine. Have tried calling again a few times since to get an updated status, but no answer.
