  1. Well after speaking with 3 reps and over 2 hours on hold (throughout 3 phone calls), seems they will honour the balcony upgrade at $80.00 CAD per day total for the 2 of us ($556 for the 7 night sailing). HOWEVER...I lose the $200.00 OBC I currently have.

    Or:

An extra $100.00 CAD per night ($694.00 CAD total for the cabin) for Concierge cabin. Again...we lose the $200.00 OBC.

So Concierge would be an extra $20.00 CAD per night.

I am on hold with them now to try and get the balcony upgrade. He is 'speaking with accounting' as I write this.

Now that the balcony has become  a possibility for us, my 22 yr old daughter is REALLY wanting the balcony...and she will pay for part of the upgrade. So although your 'move up bid' is an option, I am quite unfamiliar with it and also want to make sure we get a balcony as opposed to the gamble.

Whether we go for balcony or concierge...it is GTY only. That is okay as we are currently in an INS GTY.

We just booked this cruise 3 days ago!

Will keep you posted when I am done my next hour on hold.

  2. Wondering what you all think.

I currently have an inside gty on Reflection and can pay /upgrade to a concierge gty (cheaper than regular balcony) for $75.00USD per night. There are 2 of us.

Trying to decide if it is 'worth it' ( sorry).

Would I find a better use of $75.00 per day...or is a balcony its own better use?

Possible I may also get an additional $50.00 OBC.

It would be a gty either way.

    Thanks :)

  3. We take the local bus to Valley Church Beach. Vosts about 1.50 US per person and takes about 20 minutes. We also stay on the quieter side with our towel and a good book. Nest was still there last year offering food and drinks (and free wifi while eating/drinking).

    Hi everyone.

I have been trying to do my research on TA and Cruise Citic, and just have a couple of specific questions.

My husband and I feel comfortable taking public transportation in most places and like the local feel of the ride ...and also saving money!

We were considering doing a Glory Tour half day excursion to Harrison Cave, Bathsheba, and Welchman Hall Gully. However, I am not really sure if I want to spend $85USD pp. I would love to see that part of the island (we were there once before and saw the beaches along the west coast).

I am not sure that we need to see the caves however. We have been to several cave systems in other locations, and although interesting, I am just not convinced we need to do another one.

I would like to see the Gully however, ~with the hope of seeing some monkeys (although I know there is no guarantee).

So...my question... how feasible is it to take a public bus from Bridgetown (where our ship will dock from 8am - 5pm) to Bethsheba area... then catch a bus to Welchman Hall Gully, then catch another bus back to Bridgetown?? If time permits, we will then walk to Carlisle Bay for some swimming and maybe snorkel with the turtles.

    Thanks for your help!!!

  5. I know the Summit does. It is called the Thelassatherapy (sp?) pool.

It is on the same deck as the regular pools. It is very warm, just slightly less than the 2 hot tubs that are also in the room. It is in a solarium...very beautiful. Nice padded chairs and wooden slat comfy chairs. It is available to all room types, but is adult only. Google a picture of it. It has 4 'faucets', one at each corner, that spray down pretty hard to give a great shoulder massage.

On the two sides there are metal bar loungers that are submerged and spray little jets of warm water. This is sounding nothing like it really is...sorry about that. It is just the best way I can describe it. It is a large pool with spa like qualities within it.

    Very peaceful and lovely.

  6. Hello...we currently have a Land and Sea tour booked with Spencer Ambrose for $90.00 per person, including lunch, mud baths, Jalousie beach, and a boat ride back to the ship. The price is inclusive of fees and has other short stops planned along the way for photo ops.

I had also emailed Real St Lucia Tours, and they responded with a great offer as well. They would do a private...and I mean private...only the two of us and our guide...for $75.00 per person. This could be totally tailor made to what we would like to do. I had really wanted to add the Tet Paul hike to our tour, and this is a way to do it. The $75.00 per person is not inclusive, however. We would need to to pay $12.00 per person for the mud baths, $5.00 per person for Tet Paul, and of course pay for our own lunch...probably somewhere in Soufriere. Biggest con...land both ways...he said they no longer offer a land and sea package (or at least they aren't when we will be there).

Real St Lucia tours get top marks on Trip Advisor...a better rating than Spencer, but that may not necessarily mean that much.

    So what would you do??

    1) Spencer...$180.00 total including lunch and fees, and a boat ride back to ship.

    or

    2) Real St Lucia...$150.00 plus $34.00 in entrance fees plus $20-25 for a small, quick snack/lunch, for a total of about $205.00. No boat ride, but tour is totally private and we can do what we want.

    Thoughts on these tours??

    Thanks.

  7. Well...you can have breakfast in bed...why not dinner in bed. And instead of wearing a suit and tie, we could don birthday suits.

I think maybe we will forgo formal nigjts altogther. The only reason I would want to try is if they had something great on the menu. But, if I can order room service...that would take care of that.

We could also go ask at the dining room in the first night and see what they say.

We have done formal nights before...it is just not what this trip is about for us.

  8. Hi there...I have 2 main questions.

    1) We are staying in an inside cabin...is room service off the room service menu only, or can we also order from the MDR? Do you ask your room steward for a menu, or do you check out the menu earlier in the day and then call in your choices during dining hours?

    2) Do you have to dress formally on formal nights? We are packing very ligjt for this cruise and will not be bringing a suit jacket. Will we be denied...or be out of place, if we just wear our normal MDR clothes?

    Thanks

  9. lol..we won't be sending any pictures, that's for sure.

When she looked up Cellular at Sea, which is what Celebrity uses, she said phone calls were $6.99 per minute, incoming or outgoing...OUCH!!!! That is also when she told me about the texting cost...so I guess that's what they have agreed upon with Bell.

I will ask at the ship to be sure. Do I ask at the internet desk, or at customer service while on board?

    Thanks.

  10. Thanks...

We can get a ZONE 1 package that includes 200 outgoing texts and 60 minutes of voice for $45.00. That would cover St Lucia, Antigua, Barbados and St Martin.

Then we'd need a US plan to cover Puerto Rico and St Thomas, and that is 1000 outgoing texts and 90 minutes of voice for $30.00.

Both offer free incoming texts while on land for whatever package we buy.

Bell also told me that incoming texts are free even while 'at sea'...can anyone confirm this? She said 75 cents per outgoing/sent texts while at sea, but free incoming.

  11. Thank you...

I did check out the website, and it does have potential. My worry is that certain phones may be limited. ie) some islands say only with pay phones, some say only from certain hotels, etc. I wouldn't want to take the chance that it wouldn't work.

It also says you need to have a phone card. Although our cell phone is with Bell, our land line is through our local cable company, and they do not provide calling cards. So, for this reason, I don't think it would work for us. Good suggestion though...thank you.

I think I will keep my eyes open at all of the terminals, and if it is reasonable, I will use a pay phone and calling card. Either that or choose one of the plans my carrier offers.

    Thanks.
